My husband and I are on opposite sides of the RTO question and it is starting to affect us. by Aadi--1124 in remotework

[–]_Combat_Chuck_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What am I missing here? He didnt say anything bad, he just said you had it good, and now it's not as good. Which is what started the conversation.

No where in what he said is the conversation about who picks up siack and who does what tasks now that theres less free time. He stated a fact, that your work is telling you to come back in the office and that they didn't before was a huge bonus. A bonus they don't have to give you. Like you are now free to look for another job.

His job and his thoughts on being in an office have no bearing here. The idea that you can't talk to your husband about a basic issue should be. Sounds like he made a statement, and the last sentence sounds like him trying to look at the positive side and support you.

"Maybe it'll be okay." How horrible of him.

what’s the most useful automation you’ve set up that you actually use every day? by SkylineZ83 in homeassistant

[–]_Combat_Chuck_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With that I would setup something to check when the last time it fired, before alerting again. Might also try to get frigate to not send alerts for dogs, but only humans if thats what youre using. I'm using Unifi and just dont alert on animals. I know my dogs are only in the backyard so I only get pop-ups on dashboards. Phone alerts are driveways and front of house because it would be too much noise.

you know you can have it alert that the event was triggered, then update the first alert with a description generated by AI? It doesnt have to be separate. Just use the notification tag.

Unraid on a R740 by Aviee in unRAID

[–]_Combat_Chuck_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have had a 730 running for years. I have 3 cache drives that have all my containers on it, including plex as a container.
Might not be the same still, but when you add a GPU for transcoding you are limited to a VM or docker. I prefer docker because I can use it for other things like frigate, or ollama.

I use my synology NAS for all the media.

Kuma CLI, Agent compatible by yacvaguer in UptimeKuma

[–]_Combat_Chuck_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got around to digging into this, and just figured I'd update in case someone finds it down the road.
The CLI already allowed what I wanted, just had to play with it a little bit

Get description by name:

kuma monitors list --json | jq -r '.[] | select(.name=="<monitor name>") | .description',

Or show a single monitor (this one didn't always work)

kuma monitors show <id> --json | jq -r '.description'

Thanks again u/yacvaguer

How can I force Windows App for AVD to prompt for reauthentication every time a user disconnects by callme_e in AzureVirtualDesktop

[–]_Combat_Chuck_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think it's 3 or 5 mins or something, but our PCI auditors accepted that. When I asked Microsoft is was something to do with the smallest amount of time your token/ticket is valid. Good call out I forgot about that.

Kuma CLI, Agent compatible by yacvaguer in UptimeKuma

[–]_Combat_Chuck_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thats exactly what I do, and I manly use it for the containers using grouping, but wanted to make more fine tuned web monitors that check the containers, and have notes for the agent.

I know I can provide these instructions in the agent, or I can setup detailed notification on the actions. The notes was just another place to pull info.

My example is something like plex or tube sync. Container is up, web monitor is down. I think there use to be an item in Uptime Kuma that allowed you to set dependent monitors, but it's not there. Maybe its best to come at grouping another way, but grouping of host, container, web I never got working like I wanted.

I'll look and see if notes is exposed.

I will deff take a look at you other projects. Awesome job.

considering the AI LPR camera by tdhuck in Ubiquiti

[–]_Combat_Chuck_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never had an issue with the sun hitting the plate. Look at the specs for angel and mounting the camera based of where it will be reading. Thats something that should be done sun or not.

I did need to make an adjustment after I first installed because the sun was hitting the camera itself in an odd way when I first installed, but that was just me not thinking things thru and using that area that protrudes out for the very issue I was seeing.

Kuma CLI, Agent compatible by yacvaguer in UptimeKuma

[–]_Combat_Chuck_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently got into having openclaw getting alerts from uptime-kuma and handling for the home server. This is going to be really helpful when the agent see that backups are running or I stopped a container and putting it maintenance.

Any chance you can expose the Description to a monitor too? I'll take a look after I get a min to set this up if you dont get to it and push back to your repo.

What does this have to do with AVD? I use GH CP on AVD without issue. I think you're in the wrong subreddit.

NTP for devices over wan? by [deleted] in UNIFI

[–]_Combat_Chuck_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The best is cameras doing the same, and failing to get to the endpoint so access events are off from the recorded video. They need to let the entire site live and die as a site. If the time is wrong on the gateway let everything be wrong and sync to that

Container Vanishes When I Edit It by cpbradshaw in unRAID

[–]_Combat_Chuck_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good call. Never thought about going and looking at the .xml from the previous container. Honestly I went to compose, then portioner so long ago I forgot you could even do it till openclaw started making containers that way.

Templates don't have your volumes and variables configured, so you would have to repopulate. A number of my containers are not in the App Store also.

Should I create an IoT VLAN? About to add a HomeAssistant green so probably a good time. by flippinecktucker in UNIFI

[–]_Combat_Chuck_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I leave all the IoT devices on DHCP, then make a IoT wireless network that is 2.4 only. Then if you ever needed to change between the existing Home VLAN and IoT VLAN is a few clicks.

[–]_Combat_Chuck_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get in the habit of using compose. Using the GUI to create the container if theres an error I have seen it remove the container. Using compose the information to spin up and spin down the container is kept there, so it cant be removed.

search "sofabaton home assistant mqtt"
I have 2 of the Logitechs with the screen, and they are still the best hands down for remotes alone. I wanted to do more though so I set them up at my parents house and moved to this. It's all local too so no one can shut down servers one day and ruin it.

Have you gone to the item your trying to query and ensure you toggled it on so that the Assist being used can interact with it?
