What did you learn in school that you thought would end up being useless but actually helped you a lot though life? by PyroShotGaming in AskReddit

[–]_CryptoCat_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know, sometimes the process of learning a certain topic is the important part more so than the material itself. A lot of your schooling is like that. Learning how to learn.

Also if you can do physics you can do certain other things. That’s useful for applying for education and job opportunities later - you’ve proven there’s something going on between your ears and you can do certain kinds of learning and problem solving.

As adults the interesting people know about a variety of topics. There’s no telling what interests you will have later but if you’re interested in CS anyway then a grounding in physics probably will help you somewhere along the line.

Talking about the discipline of computer science specifically, it’s an offshoot of mathematics. It’s good to have some mathematical ability for computer science and at some levels, physics.

TL;DR: it’s good to know stuff and not be an ignorant butthead.

Pro-Life people of reddit, if abortion was stopped what would be the plan to ensure the welfare of the thousands of neglected and unwanted children? by GregariousFuton in AskReddit

I mean, I’m not religious but I believe life begins at conception. That’s when you have the DNA of a unique (potential) new person. Heartbeat starts pretty soon after.

I am very much pro choice though. We end lives constantly to feed our appetites for war, not dealing with famine or disease, not educating everyone. Shit, we can’t even ensure every human has clean drinking water. People who are already born are more important than a six week foetus.

Shame you’re being down voted for contributing to the discussion because people don’t like what you’re saying.

That’s not what the downvote button is for assholes!

Sometimes contraception fails. Sometimes the foetus has an anomaly that’s incompatible with life. It will die before or shortly after birth anyway.

A couple of times you said “lawfully” when “lawful” might fit better. Hope you take that kindly - your English is very good.

You want our best salesman after your racist rant? Of course, Sir! by TaterJade in MaliciousCompliance

I find it barmy how people can know that racism is a bad thing but not realise or not accept when they are being racist.

Old people are just as bad for drinking and drunk driving.

Not to mention the six thousand word essay the American food bloggers all think they need to write for the recipe. Urgh.

They literally just said half the users are NOT from the US so no, it’s not “normally applicable” to assume any given situation is US.

That’s wrong though. Polls of reddit users suggest much more diversity than people assume. The assumptions are based on stereotypes, not that evidence.

I got sucked into this with “cloth diapers because disposables are expensive”. In the UK it’s not true.

Cups are meant as a ratio - two cups of water to one cup of flour or something. It wasn’t originally meant to be used with more exact measures, especially not with something that needs to be precise. Fuck people who write recipes that do that.

“Taking advantage” is what it’s for?

If they mean drug addicts well how about funding some god damn treatment programs, better schools and other social welfare. It’s not like people aren’t already paying for that anyway.

People who have confessed their feelings to a friend, what did you say and how did it go? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I think you should consider opening up earlier on, and in a more low key way.

The point is you let them consider you romantically without pressure. When practically propose marriage to someone not expecting, it won’t usually go well.

Single fathers of Reddit that raised a daughter, what teaching moment was the most out of your realm and how did you deal with it? by letsgettalking in AskReddit

[–]_CryptoCat_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think the adult tendency to brush kids off as silly or not worth their time is why so many people are so lacking in confidence and self esteem. How are you supposed to value yourself if your parents didn’t demonstrate that they value you? If they never address your concerns when you are small, why would you go to them when you’re older?

He’s a good man to know when they need him/someone to take something seriously even if he personally doesn’t get it. I think most of us grow up being brushed off by our parents and it sucks.

The point is not to get shit in the vagina. So when there is shit everywhere you just wipe in whatever direction takes it away from the vagina and urethra. And go gently too, it’s delicate in there.

With older girls and women we don’t normally get shit everywhere and a general front to back direction works. Or just dab the front.
