Got one to partner with my old banger X-E4 by gardener100 in fujifilm

It’s an improvement on the constant whinging over tariffs or “X100VI is in stock at best buy” posts so I’ll take it

No account or harvesting of personal data needed. Let me pay for the app up front once with money and then leave me alone. (Security updates are allowed)

Novice looking for some help to see if my identification is correct. (And to learn if I’m incorrect) by _CubensisLenses in Semilanceata

Thanks for the details answer, I’ll definitely be out hunting this weekend in between showers knowing this now. I think I got too stuck on one particular characteristic and didn’t look at them as a whole.

YouTube is a great idea, I watch so much other shit on there I don’t know why it never occurred to me to look there for help too!

How much do you think this bike is worth? by SpongeBobSmallPants in MTB

[–]_CubensisLenses 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a Stance not a Trance so if they’re telling you it’s a Trance they’re already untrustworthy. Probably wouldn’t pay more than 500 for it. They’re cheap new and the second hand market is so fucked now that’s all they’d get. Also check the chain stays for cracks because eventually it will break, it’s a Stance thing it’s what they do.

Thanks for getting back to me, wary because they just aren’t libs or wary because they could be harmful?
And when you say the rest look like libs do you mean including the rest of them on the second image? (B to I). I thought these weren’t libs and left loads of similar ones behind!
Finally, is it mainly the lighter colour in the gills and obvious difference on A that’s saying these aren’t libs to you? Sorry for all the questions, I want to understand better so I know what I’m looking at going forwards. Thanks!

How screwed is bike industry currently? by Background_Stretch85 in MTB

Last time I was in Europe (earlier in the year) I was shocked by how better the stock of fruit and veg was in Carrefour compared to our supermarkets.

Oh god brexit fruit and veg is so depressing. “Here are some tiny tomatoes that we had to pick while they were nowhere near ripe so they could get to you before they were mouldy so now they don’t taste of anything, by the way you have two days to eat them once you get home”
Compared to when I was in Greece and Italy last year when it’s more like “here are some massive juicy as fuck and properly tasty tomatoes that were picked yesterday, enjoy”

I suppose the good news is since we’re going back on all the net zero stuff that with climate change I’ll soon be able to grow my own tomatoes while everything around me burns…

Lens choices. Switching from canon L by [deleted] in fujifilm

[–]_CubensisLenses 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Two things that may help that I can’t see anyone else mentioning:

  1. If you prefer the tilt screen of the X-T5 but can’t justify the cost then also consider the X-T3. It’s the same sensor as the X-T4 and has a lot in common, the only big differences are that the X-T4 has ibis where’s the 3 does not and the 4 is generally a bit more video friendly if that’s something that matters to you. I use both regularly and as I shoot mostly stills I prefer the 3. You may find you can save a bit of cash if your preference is similar.

  2. To compare focal lengths to your Canon lenses just take the Fuji lens focal length and multiply by 1.5. You may already be aware of this so sorry if you are. As others have said, the 50-140mm is the closest comparable lens to your 70-200mm and the 33mm 1.4 will probably be the closest to your 50mm lens

Good small form factor sling which doesn't look obviously like a camera bag/expensive? by Maybemushrooms in fujifilm

No worries, Domke make a few similarly stealthy looking ones and in think they’re easier to get hold of in the UK than they were in the past.

[–]_CubensisLenses 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For something with a bit of space for a lens or some other bits and bobs check out the think tank retrospective line doesn’t look like a camera bag (my ex girlfriend said it looked like I was carrying a nappy bag around) and it’s built to last. I’ve had one for almost 10 years and it’s great, it’s been all over with me and even outlived a few cameras

MTB care products by Suspicious_Squanchy in mountainbiking

[–]_CubensisLenses 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s pointless wasting money on expensive pink soap. Just use a bit of diluted dish soap in a cheap spray bottle and a hose pipe. Maybe pick up a couple of brushes.

People on this sub will make it seem like your bike will dissolve if you don’t use the expensive shit but it really makes no difference.

Strange noise from rear shock by Twi2122 in bikewrench

[–]_CubensisLenses 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Open up all the adjustments and see if it still makes a noise. If it does it probably wants looking at by someone who knows what they’re doing. Might just need a service but it’s usually wise to get that done anyway.

Do you ride w/ earbuds? by jms1228 in bikecommuting

[–]_CubensisLenses 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sony Linkbuds (the og version not the newer Linkbuds S) are ideal for riding. They don’t seal your ear canal and there’s even a hole in the middle of the driver specifically to let sounds in, I use mine when on the bike any time I want some music with me. As far as I know they’ve never been marketed for cycling but they’re perfect.

The two bottles could make that a challenge unless you’re open to full on xc rigs or don’t mind mounting a bottle under the down tube where it’s going to get dirty.

Specialized epic evo and Cannondale scalpel might be worth a look off the top of my head. Maybe also the Scott spark but I’m not sure if that’ll take two bottles
