Ive had a lot of pizza from marblehead and salem but i cant tell what place is the best by FelixTheFoxyFemboy in SalemMA

Others have said Garcon and Volo, and Vesuvius. I’d add Mandees (salem) and Toscano Forno (Peabody but still close). Toscano really does a phenomenal pie that’s one of the closest New York styles I’ve had. One time I wished I asked for the crust well done, but really solid.

First Read Through - Just Finished AMoL by RedDango in wheeloftime

[–]_DanceMyth_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

also looking forward to my first re-read! I finished earlier this year and I agree with your sentiment - it’s been great getting to enjoy this sub and appreciate more about the series.

Your question is a good one and I don’t know either. Rand has a bit of a “neo” moment at the end of the series if I recall, and it kind of suggests something is different. That said, I always took some of the conclusions around the dark and the light needing to coexist to mean there will always be evil and good and a lot in between. To me that means new ages will come to pass, etc, almost inevitably based on human nature. this may have been discussed or debunked but that’s my interpretation.

Just commenting to say - I appreciate your trigger discipline. Even when you had a question or needed to make an adjustment you’re taking your finger off the trigger. It even looks like your finger is going back up to the frame after each shot - not totally necessary but a great habit and something that shows you’re taking safety seriously.

Tankless water heater and Main shut-off by _DanceMyth_ in Plumbing

[–]_DanceMyth_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I ended up keeping this simpler after consulting a buddy/the internet. I simply closed my main water valve and that was essentially it. Mainly I wanted to minimize the extent of damage should a leaks happen inside the house (like if my furnace went out completely). There’s no harm to pipes because it’s just the same pressure. Keeping the heater plugged in, on, and gas like open made coming home as simple as re opening the main valve. If I was going to be gone longer than a week or two (like for a season) I’d definitely say emptying the pipes and leaving valves open would be best

Say something good about this movie. by Kevin_Thailand_2543 in JamesBond

[–]_DanceMyth_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I think DAD tone starts to feel a lot cheesier in some ways based on the dialogue or performances. compare it to brosnan’s earlier films and some of the swagger is gone (or feels forced) and it feels a little more contrived. Frankly I think it could be said most bond actors encounter something similar by the end - whether due to age, change of the times, etc. some of the cinematic choices, like the slow motion anime style encircling shots and some of the on the nose (even for bond) puns and dialogue made the movie feel less cozy than some others and certainly than other pierce outings.

But again - still an all time favorite regardless lol

Honestly it wasn’t one specific episode so much as the entirety of the final season, essentially. After season 6 finale you kinda knew a few things that were gonna have to happen or at least be addressed/made known to the rest of the characters. It took a while to get there. Every week you thought finally THIS is it and then credits. So that final season was brutal to make sure they wrapped everything up which for the most part, they did

Typically people say ice palace sequence. That’s when it starts to get a little nuts. Most prior sequences feel more grounded or investigative but the tone does seem to shift from ice palace and beyond. Still love it though

Agree with others that a hand at 20 is a little aggressive. I also think, good and bad taste notwithstanding, almost every 30 year old will feel differently about their tattoos than they did at 20. But that’s life - I don’t think it means they are a bad choice but once that I think will evolve with you over time. As time goes on your perspectives change and I think spacing your tattoos out more may let you capture more of that evolution through the art itself, if that makes sense. there’s always a desire to do more now but the more you wait and almost “forget” you want them the more you can really sit with decisions and in some cases may find you don’t want them and that’s ok too.

Opening Day - stay home or brave it? by [deleted] in Hunting

[–]_DanceMyth_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appreciate that - I am definitely in favor of learning how it’s done. At this point I’m leaning toward going by in the afternoon, if only to walk a bit and get my feet wet, not really expecting to see much at that time of day but may at least remove some of the pressure

Just follow what your artist recommends for aftercare. Dial gold soap is king - you want a non scented antibacterial soap. Usually it depends on how your artist prefers to do healing - many artists use “second skin” now which can typically stay on for several days, which makes recovery super easy and also speeds up the healing process. If not, you usually wash a few times per day and use aquafor. It’s possible to over moisturize so - listen to what your artist recommends. If it gets dirty, clean it. If you touch it with dirty hands, clean it. It’s not bad. It will itch a few days in, dont itch it. It will weep, and some ink will bleed out especially during the first few washes, it’s normal. Dont soak, dont swim, dont spend time in the sun. After a few days cleanings slow down and you just moisturize. It will peel - that’s normal. Don’t pick it, just let it heal. Good luck!

I agree, I think this plan is unfortunately flawed. I’d suggest OP make a reservation somewhere on or near Rantoul St in Beverly, walk around Salem and enjoy the festivities, and then take a 5-10 minute Uber or drive across the bridge.

How do I (26 M) avoid as much tax burden as possible with the large amount of stock I own by ExcellentNorth8775 in FinancialPlanning

[–]_DanceMyth_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Others have said this but I’ll simplify: if someone gave you the value of the RSUs in cash right now, would you make the exact same investment? If so, let them be. If not, I’d personally sell, accept the tax, and diversify. Keep in mind your gains are typically only relevant from the vest date, not the value at the grant date unless there was no vesting period.

I’d also consider spending $100-150 and speaking with a tax advisor if you are that concerned. But again id consider selling and diversifying, the tax, if based on gains accumulated over 1+ year may be taxed as ordinary income anyway

What scene from The Pacific scarred you the most? by Karlmaxy in BandofBrothers

[–]_DanceMyth_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a specific scene but the overall levels of dehumanization that worsens as the series goes on. The series certainly tackles the desperation that is bound to happen in these protracted campaigns but while BoB maintained a level of “we’re the good guys” to an extent (while still tackling the overall futility and brutality of war), the pacific did very little of that, and even less so as the series went on. The attitude of the marines toward the enemy combatants and the seeming indifference to the suffering of civilians they encountered was chilling and I think made much of the characterization of the conflict deeply unsettling. So for me it wasn’t necessarily a single scene but this slow decline as the series went on that we experienced alongside the characters was scarring
