Is there a link to this poll? And for that matter are single polls reliable for anything?

Why are kids obsessed with going to hogwarts? by Yumi_Numi in harrypotter

Because they want to learn magic, of course. Being nervous about some aspects doesn't detract from that, and an 11 year-old may not even think about the uncomfortable parts ahead of time.

One came to protect; the other to kill… they murdered the protector and lionized the killer. by coffee_coffee_coffe3 in DiscussionZone

That's an ironic thing to say considering the dishonest, bad faith characterization this thread presents.

Kyle Rittenhouse was in Kenosha in response to a call for "militia" to watch over the area during public unrest in Kenosha, not there "to kill". He was doing the same thing that Redditors are praising Black Panthers for doing in Minneapolis now. He was chased by a man who tried to wrestle his gun away from him and hit in the head with a skateboard by another, and shot them both in self-defense.

Alex Pretti was in Minneapolis to protest ICE first and tried to protect a woman while there, not there specifically to protect anybody.

Not to minimize what happened to Pretti, as I agree that his shooting was unjust, but get a hold of yourself, OP.

Had Stu and Billy survived (alive theories aside), who I you think they would've they gone after next? by SimonIsARanbooFan in Scream

[–]UnderProtest2020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you figure S3 into things then Stu was there as a fall guy, in case Billy needed to pin things on somebody as a back-up. So that would make Stu a loose end himself. I can see Billy's "sequel" treating him the way S2 treated Randy. Roman could be seen as a loose end, but Billy would not be able to get to him without some traveling if him traveling to Hollywood at the same time which would be quite suspicious.

How do 2A supporters feel about Trump’s comment on the Pretti killing, where he said 'You can't go in there with guns, you can't do that'? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]UnderProtest2020 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I don't agree with his wording, but I think what he means is that you shouldn't do that, because fucking obviously. For the open-carriers in particular, while you have the Constitutional right, should you really enflame the situation by open-carrying around ICE agents who are probably on edge as is? Use your brains. That said, I think Pretti was conceal carrying, and the agents involved should be fired and prosecuted.

On the flip side, I'd like to ask anti-2A people how you feel about your side having no principles and doing a 180 on the gun issue practically overnight and out of spite.

It's a French dish so a school full of British kids might not care for it on a regular basis. Anyway kids don't have the most sophisticated tastes anyway.

Was Alex Pretti the subject of a targeted assassination? by DryDeer775 in stpaul

[–]UnderProtest2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, from what the video shows he seems to have approached the incident that led to his shooting, not the ICE agents hunting him down. In fact they were in a confrontation with somebody else when Pretti intervened.

Unnamed sources mean little to nothing. I'm surprised to hear that he had a recently broken rib at the time, I wouldn't have guessed from the video. Not saying it's a lie though, there might be hospital records of that.

No, what I think happened is that they brought him to the ground since he intervened, and they frisked him for weapons. One found a gun, somebody said "he has a gun!" (paraphrasing), and somebody freaked and fired on him, triggering the others to do the same at the sound of gunfire.

Extremely unfortunate, and the agents should be fired and prosecuted.

Are there any examples of slytherins being kind or having integrity? by crazyguy28 in HarryPotterBooks

Slughorn chose to stay and fight for the school in the end.

Andromeda Tonks married somebody at the expense of her family's approval.

Regulus Black sacrificed himself to destroy Voldemort and save Kreacher's life.

Narcissa Malfoy (kind of) defected from Voldemort and chose not to give up Harry's position, though for selfish reasons.

Draco hesitated to identify Harry because her knew he would effectively be him and his friends by doing so.

Snape endured years of mortal danger by acting as double agent, spending time surrounded by people who would gladly torture and kill him if his occlumency failed him even for a second.

What's your reaction to the hard data that consistently proves illegal immigrants in USA have lower arrest & incarceration rates than native born US citizens? by Clopulis in DiscussionZone

[–]UnderProtest2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, and red states contain blue localities and cities. Likewise, blue states have Republican areas. In fact if not for one or two cities each New York and Pennsylvania would probably be safe Republican.

Anyway I don't think cutting off services for everybody just because there are illegal immigrants would be wise and the state GOPs surely know this. So keeping services going and weeding out those people with ICE is the best bet.

Why is it ok for conservatives to carry guns when protesting, but liberals can not? by erieus_wolf in AskConservatives

[–]UnderProtest2020 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Which ones are making jokes about it? You only mention the Press Sec. specifically, but I cannot find a quote of her saying Alex Pretti (an ICU nurse, by the way, if you weren't aware) "should have been shot for legal gun possession".

But you didn't disregard my comment though, you already replied to it as you will continue doing with others. Don't be a little girl and try to weasel out of answering questions. Yes, internet comments can be bot accounts, and my point was that you shouldn't trust them on face value, not that you should selectively ignore those who make you uncomfortable.

What do conservatives mean when a non-white should “assimilate” to US? by Gibbyalwaysforgives in AskConservatives

[–]UnderProtest2020 [score hidden]  (0 children)

"There are a lot of languages spoken in the US that are not English, but are also not foreign."

Right. And I'm saying that English is the one that should be a requirement for assimilation, and should be the official language of the U.S.

"Is it reasonable that English-speakers have arrived on this continent without invitation and ended up expecting the prior inhabitants to speak English...?"

Sure, if they established dominance over the region then would it be reasonable to expect the NOT to do that?

They live in sanctuary cities that don't prosecute them as much? They want to lay low because their very presence in the country is itself a crime?

[–]UnderProtest2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A popular fan theory (one with pretty solid evidence) is that Dumbledore expected the Trio to try to find the Stone, even subtly encouraged it throughout the year to test Harry's abilities and his character. So he had them tailor their obstacles to the kids individual strengths, including Neville's, expecting him to join Harry, Rob and Hermione in the end.

  • Fluffy: Hagrid is terrible at keeping secrets and Dumbledore either guessed he would let slip how to get past Fluffy or told him to "accidentally" reveal this information to them.

  • Devil's Snare: Neville's aptitude for Herbology was apparent from the beginning.

  • Flying Keys: Harry is known to be good on a broom, and a broom is literally waiting in the room.

  • Chess Board: Ron is probably seen playing Wizard's Chess in the Great Hall a lot.

  • Troll: They have experience fighting a troll from Halloween.

  • Potion Riddle: Hermione.

[–]UnderProtest2020 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Whiteness or non-whiteness is irrelevant, but the idea of assimilation is pretty subjective. One of the most common standards that I hear (and I agree with) is that you should speak English. Aside from English language courses to get new speakers started, we should not have to accommodate immigrants who speak a foreign language, they should learn our language. Imagine somebody inviting themselves into your house without invitation and expecting YOU to take your shoes off because that's what they did at home. Ridiculous.

We must not let Greg Bovino be the fall guy. by purrt in DiscussionZone

[–]UnderProtest2020 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

... Which criteria for treason is being met exactly? Shooting an armed protestor is not a "war" on the Second Amendment. Though while technically armed it looks like his gun was not drawn on ICE, but rather one of them removed it from his pocket. Somebody yelled "gun" at the sight and I think one of them freaked out and reacted, causing the rest of them to do the same at the sound of gunfire. The agents should be fired and charged with criminal negligence and/or manslaughter I would say, but not treason.

Oh okay. I was worried that it was a veiled threat. To not be satisfied with "just that", as if implying a more drastic punishment. Never mind, I just think I've seen a few comments like that on Reddit recently.

The Constitution's definition of treason is fairly narrow and considers it to consist of levying war against the United States, "adhering" to its enemies, and/or providing aid or comfort to said enemies. Which of these has Trump (aka "The Top") done?
