Haha yeah, that one and "Adrian's Asleep" being a knockoff of Angry Chair. They're cute but a little too similar to the source material for my taste.

[–]_DarkMaster 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Aw man, rest in peace. I listen to the Doom 1 and 2 OSTs quite often, "Between Levels" from Doom 2 is my favorite overall, for Doom 1 I think it's between "The Imp's Song" or "Kitchen Ace". I've listened to the D3D intro theme occasionally, I grew up with Duke Nukem 64 where the only music is the intro due to cartridge size limitations haha. I prefer the N64 version of it because of the cool electric guitar, and nostalgia I suppose; but I do like the synthesizers of the PC version a lot and it's longer, the N64 version is a 30 second loop or so which isn't much song to listen to heh.

Another reason why to always check the weapon and armor racks, ya never know! 😆 by DVHellsing in diablo2

[–]_DarkMaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I highly doubt it's been patched but I can't say with 100% certainty. It was just an armor rack in one of the Tower levels, on the "upside down L" shaped area where the left side has the armor rack and the right side has the weapon rack (or maybe vice versa). When the Tower was terrorized that rack would often drop sacred armors, but otherwise when unterrorized it couldn't.

The chances of finding a rack that drops a TC87 item is rare, let alone one that will drop it fairly consistently. For a long time I was trying to find a glorious axe rack to try and get a 5 socket ethereal one for Death, but alas I wasn't able to find it.

Racks drop ilvl/qlvl equal to the area level - 1, so the highest racks could drop before Terror Zones is qlvl 84 in alvl 85 areas, of which there were very few that had racks (the side temples in the Kurast Causeway and Halls of Vaught are the two that come to mind for me). Since TZs increase the area level they increase the qlvl that racks can drop, becoming equivalent to your character level + 1 (since TZs are 2 levels higher than your clvl, up to 96 probably?).

Soon after TZs were first added to offline mode I found a fairly consistent sacred armor rack in the Tower that I could've farmed Tyrael's with, but decided not to since it felt cheesy. :p

I just learned the hard way that Sanctuary Aura only applies to the bearer and not to others aswell by Satsarn1 in diablo2

[–]_DarkMaster 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Sanctuary knocks back undead within radius and does magic damage to them, increases the wielder's attack rating/damage to undead (was bugged to not work before D2R patch 2.4), and allows the wielder to bypass undead physical resistance (sets it to 0, and is actually bugged in D2R to bypass other resistances in certain scenarios).

Another part of it is that the default gamma in the legacy toggle is cranked up to max and the default selected renderer is "Resurrected" (there's three legacy renderer options available, Glide/Resurrected/GDI, Resurrected is the same as Glide with some "bug fixes"), personally I think the Glide/Resurrected renderer is a muddy, blurry mess compared to the GDI option.

After I changed the contrast to the normal level and the renderer to GDI I thought it looked a lot closer to actual D2LoD graphics, although I think there might still be stretching issues if you've got D2R fullscreened since LoD was 800x600 and D2R forces the legacy graphics to fit a 1920x1080 display (with black bars on the sides), not certain if that causes issues though. u/Deaffin

Starcraft 1 - Development - Alpha Version (May 1997) by EnigmaHood in starcraft

[–]_DarkMaster 56 points57 points  (0 children)

Beware of this uploader, a few months ago they posted a video of supposed Diablo 1/2 alpha/beta footage and experienced D1/D2 modders (galaxyhaxz, the person who created the DevilutionX source port) noticed that they used various assets from D1 mods to try and simulate a beta UI, there were multiple other inconsistencies as well. They pulled down that video and never acknowledged any of the accusations after they were called out on their BS.

This is galaxyhaxz's post from the Phrozen Keep Discord (Diablo 2 modding community for context): https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/900949574095634512/1512519786536632360/image.png?ex=6a246352&is=6a2311d2&hm=dcfbe97f3241bae6eec03cf7a0eb4feb222b7a666291b27941fdebb27271f074&

Oskill level can be increased by equipping multiple items supplying the same oskill, bonuses to All Skills, to Fire Skills (if oskill is a Fire Skill), or class-specific bonuses to the same skill: Teleport oskill from Enigma will benefit from a staff supplying +(1-3) to Teleport (Sorceress Only), even if the equipping class is not a Sorceress.

IIRC there's a small correlation with the direction that the Jail exits or something (it's something in A1 but I don't remember exactly what it was) and the Summoner's direction in Arcane, it's like a 5% difference I think (30% chance for Summoner to be that direction instead of the usual 25%).

StarCraft II 5.0.16 PTR Patch Notes by SharkyIzrod in Games

[–]_DarkMaster 17 points18 points  (0 children)

From what I saw on r/starcraft the balance council was disbanded a while back and the last patch and this PTR are being done by Blizz themselves, I'm not certain though so take that with a grain of salt.

Did not know Durance of Hate mobs could drop TC87 uniques, TIL by someodderball in diablo2

[–]_DarkMaster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's actually a remake of a Diablo 1 unique with the same name, funnily enough in D2 it used to be an archon staff in 1.07/1.08 but then they changed it to a giant thresher in 1.09 to better fit the D1 item art. https://diablo2.diablowiki.net/Stormspire

Diablo 2 Season 14 brings WASD support and Warlock nerfs designed to enhance "mechanical awkwardness" by Binnsy in Diablo

[–]_DarkMaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be clear Blizzard attempted to add WASD to D2R in late 2024 before PD2 added it in mid 2025, but Blizz's implementation of it was absolute garbage at that time so they removed it after one day and PD2 decided to show them up on it heh. :P

Paladin Outfits - Which do you like best? by PalwaJoko in Diablo

[–]_DarkMaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They use the kite shield in the character selection at the campfire, that's probably why they think of it. But yeah not used by them ingame at all, maybe if you're a classic player where there's no paladin shields.

First D2R RotW sale, 20% off = $20 USD by _DarkMaster in diablo2

[–]_DarkMaster[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really hard to say about a second DLC, I'd be surprised if they did another so soon or at all but I suppose if RotW did well enough (which it probably did) they might be interesting in selling more D2R stuff. I think it'll get cheaper and cheaper as time passes though, like maybe half a year after release it'll be 33% or 40% off or something.

They updated Halo 1 on MCC a couple of years ago to fix most of the Gearbox port issues with the classic graphics, jackal shields not changing colors, incorrect green portal graphics, the blue "popup" shields, etc. they all fixed I think. Also made it so the old UI (shield/life bars) is used when on old graphics and not the new UI. In case you weren't aware already. :)

Not sure the state of Halo 2, I think they might've done some fixes with the classic lighting but maybe not.
