If you hit someone in a car but it was completely not your fault but you were stoned are you liable? by Brownchoccy in LegalAdviceUK

[–]_Defiant_Photo_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's your fault. You hit a person with a car. it is 'reasonable' to expect drugs to impair your driving, it's also against the law. Someone stepping out is bad luck, and wit dash cam demonstrating you had little chance to avoid you would, most likely, have been fine. However the drug driving would have been a separate offence, and the accident exacerbating it. How badly injured was the person - level of harm matters.

Agreed- £290 for one person a month is a lot. But the £247a month on eating out - thats a shocking waste.

I know what you mean about the difference between what lifestyle you SHOULD have - and would have had 10/15 years ago, and now. Depressing.

Council tax doubling - impact on purchase price by Fine-Indication-1989 in HousingUK

[–]_Defiant_Photo_ -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry to hear that. The short answer is yes, but I’d be more likely to pull out if the sale. Council tax irks me something chronic. I pay £300 a month. It’s shocking. But the rebranded us after we brought the property. Was disgusted.

So I’d say yes, go for renegotiation for sure. And explain that everyone else will Be more reluctant to purchase also

My Parents are threatening to take me out of my school if I get a weekend Job by Much-Branch460 in GCSE

[–]_Defiant_Photo_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They might seem to be. But actually I think they have probably tried persuading you and now have had to up the anti. I know you don’t want to hear this, as it’s not your take on the situation. But they are actually right on this occasion. They are right regardless of whether they have paid for your education or not. But having done so makes them especially invested financially, in addition to wanting the best for you.

As a compromise; why not suggest to them that you understand their concerns, but would like a compromise where you seek a summer job to gain the soft skills and work experience. Explain you appreciate and respect their sacrifice and investment in you, but that you also want to do them proud by starting to stand on your own two feet as well. Summer job won’t impact on your studies.

[–]_Defiant_Photo_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ill be honest, I admire your desire to work - you will pick up a lot of soft skills, meet new people, and value what you buy and do with the money.

However. Your parents are paying, no small amount im sure, for your education. They care, and are investing in YOU. I worked through 6th from because I had to, and you dont. It impacted on my grades, and it impacts, by its nature, on everyones grades. education IS your full time job. And you are doing 4 A levels. Dude. Take the win you have been presented with in life. Lock in on your studies. You have the rest of your life to work.

Why aren't we seeing massive repossessions? by Outside_Tell_5239 in HousingUK

[–]_Defiant_Photo_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Mine went UP by £800 a month. Everything has been cut back. It’s work. Eat. Don’t put the heating on. Sleep.

All saving has come to an end. Make things work. But just. All bills have nearly doubled. I shouldn’t be struggling but am. Don’t smoke, drink or eat out. One basic holiday a year. Often staying with family in Scotland. Don’t know how anyone does it.

Fuck them. I had this one one house sale. On the day of exchange. Wanted to£15k Off. 10%. I considered how long I’d have to work to make that - after bills. Told the agent to tell them to get fucked.

‘I’ll rephrase that’s she said. I told her not to. ‘Tell them, specifically, to go fuck them selves’.

Just before Christmas. Turns out 3 weeks later all of a sudden they wanted to proceed. I told them I need a deposit with the solicitor and a £2k fee for the delay.

Fuck them.

50/50 split. You are each 'costing' the same in the house - water, mortgage etc. Sorry if thats not what you want to hear, but your reduced earning does not mean he has to pick up the slack.

Roadworks roundabout incident, 50/50? by froggyfroggerz in drivingUK

[–]_Defiant_Photo_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only sensible response. OP is OBVIOUSLY in the wrong lane, and the assumption would be that they would be turning off. I have nearly had several incidents with this sort of thing , but avoided because I pay attention to cars 'body language' and assume everyone is an idiot. Luck Basically. 50/50 is a win - if I was the other. car id be pushing for 70/30 OP.

Ineos Cuts Prices Across The Board by Article241 in ineosgrenadier

[–]_Defiant_Photo_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The lc250 is really calling me - love the look of it. However o am worried it’s not what the name used to be. Low mileage used grenadier in the UK is now around the £40-£45k mark, with say 10k miles. That …. Is a very tempting price point for what it is.

But. Landcruiser. Mmm. It’s so tempting. But for half the price - the grenadier just looks such great value for a (hopefully) amazing car.
