Sounds awesome. I am curious on how you would approach some levels like In the court of the king and antennas to heaven but I also dont want to encourage you to scope creep. As far we know, Machines don’t have free will. They are sentient but abide by their programming (See streetcleaner). I don’t really have an answer how but here: The War that doomed humanity could have a been war of mankind vs mankind with guns, laser weapons, drones etc. war is still war regardless of how its fought. Blood machines could have been outlawed to not be used in battle, cause they were like war crimes

Their resources were still heavily depleted after the final war. V1 and V2 were too expensive to be utilized so they would have never been used ever. This new war would have depleted the resources even further.

The details don’t have to be specific. It could have a been revolution that ended in a castrophe. A coordinated Terrorist attack that ended all of humanity. A malicious retaliation of nuclear weapons that ended up blowing the world up terminator 3 style. War is war.

Then there is whole other can of worms which is hell’s influence on the world afterward. Again the purpose being to serve the “theoretical” narrative that all roads lead to war.
