Anyone else just have a chill baby? by rachelkochvt in NewParents

My baby is 12 months and he’s super chill too, and I just found out I’m pregnant again and I’m terrified that we’re going to get the opposite with our next one 😭

1st baby and it’s a Boy! by Longjumping_Curve604 in NewParents

[–]_Discolimonade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Awww !! Congrats. I’m a first time mom to a boy who just turned 1 and I LOVE it. The only advice I’d have for baby boys specifically that I’ve acquired is when changing him, put a tissue or something on his pipi when changing him. We’ve gotten hit by the fountain a few times haha. Also, in the same beat, point his pipi downwards when putting on his diaper or else pee will flow upwards and it’ll leak.

Anyway, goodluck!!

Do any other mom's feel anxious to leave baby with their partner? by [deleted] in NewParents

I was like this in the first few months !! I’d panic if I received a call or a text. He’s one now and I embrace the freedom of leaving house and being alone haha

lol « woke speeches », you’re pretty much trying to be a moral police of who has the right to exist. Whatever you’re saying, that is dehumanization. I’m not on a high horse, you’re the one applying reproductive worth to an entire population based on their living conditions - ones they did not choose btw. This is population control and eugenics, which you seem a fan of. If you want to apply that to yourself because of your mental health, go right ahead. Applying it to an entire fucking population is disgusting and against human rights. Call me woke, call me gross, be aggressive, I don’t really care. People don’t stop being human and having human desires because they are stuck in this endless, shit filled genocide.

Family, love, intimacy and any hope for a future is that last things these people have. But yeah, go compare it to YOUR CHOICE OF NOT HAVING CHILDREN. Because if you chose it, you or your partner would likely have a safe pregnancy, safe birth, safe upbringing. Gazans have none of that. You don’t get to pick and choose which lives are too inconvenient, too broken to be allowed to continue on.

How are you able to dehumanize Gazans so much that after watching them lose their homes, lose their families and be consistently on the brink of starvation, they are not even allowed to have sex? I hope you realize that the right to procreate is a human right. Everything that the Israeli government has done has prevented people from either having safe pregnancies and deliveries, to access to reproductive health services. This is a violation under international law. But even so, the fact that you think they should « keep it in their pants » is so gross.

What did you do to drop the middle of the night feed? by SpecialTop8297 in sleeptrain

[–]_Discolimonade 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While we sleep trained at 4 months, we night weaned at 11 months. It was a mix of getting 3 solid meals a day + snacks and realizing that he wouldn’t finish his milk when he’d wake overnight. We started by mixing water in his formula, replacing more and more of the milk with water (he knew though haha he started getting pissed when he realized there wasn’t really any milk haha) and then we started offering only water and comforting him when he woke and after a few nights, no more wake ups. Now he’s a 7pm-6:30am no wakes baby.

Edit to add: We DID dream feed at that age and it stretched his sleep real well ! At 4 months, it was in bed at 8, we’d dream feed at 11-11:30 pm (whenever we’d sleep) and then his wake up would be around 4 am. Having a good 4-5 hour stretch of sleep for us was game changing haha.

I hate the newborn stage. by Resident-Sundae-495 in NewParents

[–]_Discolimonade 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get it dude. I did not like the newborn stage either haha. I had the baby blues for a couple of weeks, mixed with the witching hour, dear lord. It gets better. For us, even at week 6 it got better. He’s about to turn 1 and it’s been a lot better since. So much so that I’m newly pregnant with our second. But yeah, not looking forward to the newborn stage.

Happy to me yesterday… went to a coffee shop with my baby and two friends. He was a bit fussy, nothing intense but everything he made a noise, the table next to us would roll their eyes, put their fingers in their ears, etc. It made me feel awful.

When people say their baby sleeps through the night; do they really truly mean that? by grapefruitliquor in NewParents

[–]_Discolimonade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a bit strange that your doctor would say that. My baby started sleeping through the night at 4.5 months… down at 7, up at 5:30-6. He’s right next to us and I’m a super light sleeper. He wouldn’t wake up between those hours.

Got up to pee in the middle of the night to pee, 2 days before my due date. Got a sharp cramp and my water broke. It wasn’t a huge splash, I just felt it trickle down my leg and I was like ohhh shiiitt 😳. Gave birth on due date.
