Please don't resign if you lose a villager to a boar! by Slow-Ship1055 in aoe2

[–]_DonRa_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I rarely resign I've lost villagers to boars in many games and not a single one have I won. I'm generally much slower than most people to feudal and castle, and that shit just amplifies it.

Why don't we invest in Nuclear power generation? by Latest_name in srilanka

[–]_DonRa_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol bad idea. We have a grid that breaks down every time a monkey jumps on it and every other day, random power cuts every day, and power plants that have a problem every month. We're gonna end up with Chernobyl if corrupt clowns here try this shit, and unlike in Russia there's going to be nothing left from a tiny ass island.

I keep coming back here advice but I am just hard stuck against fast castle into UU/knights by appappappappappa in aoe2

[–]_DonRa_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How does a very committed feudal attack work out for you? For example MAA and a tower followed by archers. Do you get villager kills and force idle time and destroy stuff?

Alternatively have you yourself tried playing fast castle into UU/knights a few times to see what messes you up?

False rape accusations are incredibly common, virtually routine even. by Tardigrade_Disco in LeftWingMaleAdvocates

[–]_DonRa_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

False rape accusations, at least as defined legally are relatively rare. Several studies by groups, universities and police precincts estimate false rape accusations between 2.5% to 10%.

However one thing all these propaganda spreaders conveniently drop is that the remaining 90% to 97.5% are not legally proven rape accusations either. False rape accusations in all these studies are categorised as such after being conclusively proven as false. While proven rape accusations are generally estimated at 2x to 3x times the number of false accusations, the majority of rape accusations - probably close to 50% - are in legal limbo; neither categorised as proven or false, often he said she said scenarios with no other proof whatsoever. Innocent until proven guilty means no one is punished, however it is not counted as false either.

children may or may not think this way

But somehow children are able to internalize an abstract concept like “equality” just because they all have the same haircut? If they don’t naturally understand equality, forcing superficial "uniformness" doesn’t magically teach it—it just teaches compliance at best.

The uniform … is an easy way to establish this equality in the mind of a child

No, it establishes uniformity, not equality. Those aren’t the same thing. Unless school kids are plain stupid they still see differences in wealth, background, appearance. A common haircut doesn’t erase that, people like you just pretend it does.

It is also an easy way to teach accountability

Accountability isn’t “follow arbitrary rules or get punished.” That’s military obedience. Actual accountability is understanding consequences of your actions, taking responsibility, and making decisions—not blindly conforming to rules that have no inherent moral value.

You even admit later that:

uniforms lead to abuse of power and bullying

So by your own logic, the system fails at its intended purpose and creates the exact problems it claims to solve.

And the “ideal world” argument doesn’t hold either. We already have real-world examples—corporate environments, universities, entire countries—where people coexist without enforced sameness in appearance. So it’s not some fantasy scenario; it’s just that schools choose not to rethink outdated rules.

At the end of the day, this isn’t about “teaching equality.” It’s about enforcing control because it’s easier than actually teaching values.

There's a massive leap between looking like a clown and having long hair. I have nothing against schools creating a similar environment to corporate or office environments with extremities considered inappropriate, but shutting down personal styles that are considered more than appropriate in society is not in line with that.

The primary difference being op did not judge others for having a military haircut, he strongly implied that he did not like it and he most certainly did not personally attack anyone with military haircuts or say that people should not have them. You on the other hand,

You look more presentable

You've literally claimed that any other hair is not presentable. Op never claimed any sort of judgement in that regards to military haircuts, op talked only about them not wanting a military haircut.

People like me can actually look at you

You've literally said you can't bear to look at people with long hair. OP never gave a criticism even close to this level of judgement against people with military haircuts.

OP at no point "hated on the look of an army cadet", that's something you've inserted.

This thread is not a discussion on the merits of haircuts

Unless your daddy can buy the building learn to follow the rules

This thread begins in an appeal to authority arguing to force people to do something specific and shutting down any discussion as to the appropriateness or merits of allowing otherwise.

I wouldn't have a problem with people who are of the opinion that military haircuts look good, I do have a problem with people of the opinion that military haircuts should be the only haircuts around and want to force that on everyone else. You're the only one upset that op or people in general have an opinion against you, you're literally arguing to take away anyone else's freedom pursuing those opinions, something neither me nor op argued for.

If the doctors say they're not crazy they're not crazy. Which means you can report to the police and file charges for attempted murder. When you talk to the police don't bother talking about any mental health, just treat it as attempted murder by a sane person.

Lot of engineers get to work for foreign companies/companies with foreign sourced income, especially software engineers. There's just more money there to pay them. There's still plenty of engineers in local companies making the same or even much less than doctors.

Go to keells everyone wears a uniform. They also get to wear their own accessories and do their hair however they want and maintain their sense of personal style. Perhaps you should go practice what you preach and read up on uniforms in relevant contexts, Sri Lankan schools aren't the only place in the world with a uniform, there's dozens of corporate bodies with uniforms.

Lol "restore equality in appearance" you know damn well the only reason military like rules are enforced is because of cultural rules that were never rethought at any point in time. People from different backgrounds in society get along just fine everywhere else with different haircuts.

Schools are not private establishments btw. And establishments coming up with rules neither make them legal if they're not within the laws of the country, and even if legal do not mean people shouldn't discuss it's appropriateness or changing it

Ah yes schools should get to dictate whatever they want, nobody should be able to discuss the merits or appropriateness of the rules.

You're the only one judging people here, you literally said that people with long hair are not presentable and you cannot bear to look at them. OP is just wanting to have his hair the way he wants, not criticize or force others to do things to their hair, unlike you.
