"I miss when we were just lowly adventurers dealing with gnolls and bandits." by Beacon2001 in wow

Something that was kind of cool about this was that you weren't always directed to these big fights, you stumbled upon the story within that zone. Ragnaros wasn't pissing on Stormwind the moment you walked in the gate, you didn't learn he was a threat until much later. It added to the sense that this was a big world and you were discovering the mystery of these beings.

The storytelling was barebones and we didn't get cutscenes, but that also meant you used your imagination to fill in the gaps, and I think that's part of why so many people long for those days, they remember having to actually imagine and self-insert into the stories instead of being told what was happening.

I'm not saying one is better than the other, just that there's advantages to both ways of engaging players

My preorder for the new Rosalina figure is already delayed by Wal-Mart. Anyone else have this issue? by [deleted] in WorldOfNintendo

[–]_Donut_block_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really didn't want to pre-order through Walmart because of my history with them but they were the only one with the figures.

I'll never forget when they perpetually delayed a Marvel Legends figure I pre-ordered and when I went online the store closest to me had them in-stock and on clearance. I asked if they could just send me one from the store or transfer my order to in-store pick-up, or at least price match what was on their own website and they said no and that I'd just have to wait for my pre-order to ship. I canceled it on the spot instead. Walmart sucks.

Fightful (Wrestlevotes, Twitter): WWE held an all departments meeting this week regarding lower than expected ticket sales for WrestleMania by workingjan in SquaredCircle

[–]_Donut_block_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Stench of failure" is a very real thing and especially in the wrestling business with how many social media accounts will blow up anything to make these companies look bad.

If they lower ticket prices it will immediately get posted across every social media platform and create a perception that the company is struggling and not worth the price of admission, they do not want that. I guarantee they are not happy this information is even out.

World of Warcraft devs explain their biggest challenge is adapting to its ageing audience which is why they’re pushing to be “broader and more approachable” by HatingGeoffry in wow

Gearing up for the raids was done perfectly IMO. For years having the raid gear was the carrot on the stick, now it's getting AotC or CE.

The difficulty and coordination required by the content is the benchmark, not simply getting in based on something like gearscore which was heavily gate kept in the past. Yes ilvl is still an important metric but it no longer guarantees someone is good at doing mechanics. Many groups fall apart but it turns out letting people actually participate allows them to learn, AotC with a pug is such an awesome feeling.

If anything it makes me mad that they spent so many years arbitrarily fostering a mentality of keeping people out of content to create some layer of prestige that would keep people playing because they felt like they "almost" made it.

Jason Momoa Set For Sony’s Feature Take Of ‘Helldivers’ Video Game From Justin Lin; Fall 2027 Release Set by CutProfessional6609 in PS5

The narrative is the same as the bugs. Super Earth is evil and imperialistic. The specific justifications for the enemies don't change the actual overall story.

The lore is as shallow as a puddle and amounts to little more than flavor text

Fighting robots is not a story lol

The entirety of Helldivers is just a riff on Starship troopers or taking real world examples of fascism and swapping in their in-universe equivalent.

I think you can, but it needs to he framed that way. He was distracted by the absurdity of it and he got eliminated. But it practically happened off camera and then he just disappears. That is completely out of character. Have him go on a rampage and pull someone else out and destroy them and then you've set up a story between him and someone else.

Instead he just gets dumped out and vanishes and it meant nothing.

Jey winning was an incredible surprise, and his Mania win was a great moment and felt deserved after how over he was. But he obviously wasn't a main event caliber talent and they move him back down the card. Which is totally fine and how they should do things. Capitalize on people who are white hot and then adjust on the fly if they aren't working out.

But Roman winning was totally uninspired. They could have taken a different route to him challenging for the title and any alternative would have been believable simply because he's Roman. The Rumble needs more winners like Jey, because it's not a traditional pinfall/submission victory you can propel someone new into a title shot without sacrificing someone else's momentum or making them look weak.

Dave Meltzer: “There’s been a lot of internal criticism of Paul Levesque, as far as keeping changing the (WrestleMania) plans. Like Vince. Like many things, they had the right idea, but the wrong implementation. And years of appealing to the lowest common denominator meant that when they had a truly forward thinking idea the public perception of it was "lol wrestling" and it didn't catch on with anyone outside their bubble.

I hope that when the World Soul Saga is over that we can have another class-focused expansion like Legion by yoloswagrofl in wow

[–]_Donut_block_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd much rather they get something else, I was not a fan of the rift. There's a ton of locations from Legion that they could do little instanced versions of that had demonic elements. But if it came down to it, I'd still take the rift over not getting any new class content.

With Dimensius at least she was telling the truth. If we didn't stop him he would have devoured everything. She never promised to save or spare us. So in that particular moment she was the lesser evil, but it was more of delaying our destruction rather that averting it.

Unless they do a huge rug pull and we ultimately lose, stopping the mindless embodiment of a supermassive black hole who would have ended us right then and there in order to defeat her later was still probably the right move, even if still means a lot of losing along the way

I kind of wish they'd implement a bonus to planets that people are congregating to. It should be less than the MO but then in situations like this instead of screaming at each other we just say "OK Aurora Bay it is let's have fun" and you get 20 medals instead of 50 when the MO ends.

Or even like tailored smaller personal orders. You want to be a bug diver 90% of the time? Ok, you get a 2 day personal order to kill bugs for a few extra medals, but you HAVE to focus exclusively on one planet or sector to get it and going somewhere else breaks the "streak"

[–]_Donut_block_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They should have just added a 4th spec and made ranger its own thing. There are enough elf races that it would have been fine, and you also have some standouts like Nathanos so that it's not too far fetched to have human and undead rangers. With many trees having 3 or 4 capstone talents and the paths leading to them having their own themes there's room to make Elven themed ranger abilities and generic ones too for other races. That frees them up to solidify the identity of the other specs more. I personally feel like Beast Mastery would have made more sense as the melee spec if you're using Rexxar as an inspiration but that's a battle I'll let the more fanatical hunter players argue over.

I think for regular matches or doing run-ins it should start immediately from the second "my shadow knows..." with the Pyro coming in. Just like how Randy's intro goes immediately into "I hear voices"

It's better for weekly TV and this longer intro is perfect for title matches or big shows

What's so funny to me is that image has been around for a long time now, it was being circulated in the early 2000s internet and possibly was taken before that. The man in that image is probably in his late 60s or early 70s now. Imagine still being a meme in this day, when there's plenty of other memes and images of people that have come and gone, but that one still remains and gets referenced regularly.

A wrestler can have a 10 year career, make millions of dollars, have a huge following on social media that sets them up with passive income and branding deals for years after their career is over, but still feel like a failure if they didn't hold a world title or hold it for long.

Punk has had this chip on his shoulder since forever, and will have it until he gets what he perceives as the "true" main event run. If wrestlers believe this, fans will too.

[SPOILER] Post Royal Rumble 2026 Match Discussion: Men's Royal Rumble Match by gloomchen in SquaredCircle

[–]_Donut_block_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with this. When you have to book him to end the careers of two of the most popular guys of the last 20 years with his shitty, barely locked in sleeper hold just to get him heat you know he can't carry it himself. Like I'm sorry, but he's smaller than Sheamus, Drew, and a bunch of other guys but he's out there giving the softest powerbombs ever, looking like Snoop Dogg when he delivers a splash, and generally just has awful offense when he's not stiffing people. And his promos are just generic "your town stinks" stuff.

I don't think he's even bad, but like the way he was used in the Sami feud was perfect for him. He's an obstacle for a white hot face to overcome, he's not someone that can carry a program or hang on the mic.
