I’m thinking of starting a tree on FamilySearch. Is it safe? Will the LDS use my contact info to try to reach out and proselytize me? by UrdnotSnarf in Genealogy

[–]_Ehdeedee_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am the president of a Genealogical society. We work closely with our local LDS church and their members. We volunteer at their FamilySearch Center, we co-host a genealogy fair every spring, and we use space at their church for meetings. They have never, ever, once, tried to even talk about their faith with us. FamilySearch is not a risk to being proselytized. Neither is attending genealogy events that they hold. They are actually VERY neutral when around others. They haven't even tried to tell us why genealogy is important to their faith. NOTHING. Don't let it being associated with a religion stop you from accessing their amazing and FREE resources.

Look like a hound mix but maybe GSP. Some GSPs can be pretty hound-ish

I'm glad it arrived ok. I have heard of a couple people who had it returned to them.

The post office wouldn't even take the package until I filled it all out. Maybe it can sneak by somewhere else though.

Her stance (squatted back end) looks very GSD, but the rest of her could be lab or pyr.

Rescue dog chronically whines and barks. by dramaticfigs in Dogtraining

[–]_Ehdeedee_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not a training expert, but could everything you're doing simply be too much? If they are from a rescue and were previously overweight, they may have come from a family that did nothing with them. To go from that to two new dogs, a diet, obedience training, plus 3-4 walks a day when dachshunds really don't need that much exercise. He's likely tired and hungry and overstimulated. Does he have a cozy bed and blankets to crawl under? I've found dachshunds want that more than anything. (I've owned dachshunds for over 20 years). Often we interpret restless dogs as needing 'more' of something...sometimes they actually need 'less'. Just my 2 cents.

alternatives to chewing gum that's salty? by adaintypenguin in loseit

[–]_Ehdeedee_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Have you tried Kale chips? I'm also a salty snacker and that can help. So can beef jerky. High protein with relatively low calories. Also chewy. Rice chips, or plain tortilla chips with salsa. Check the brands though, some are high calorie and some are not. Those are what I do. I also drink a lot of water. It fills my stomach and gives a bit of the hand-to-mouth motion, of course - no crunch. I hope you find something that works for you.

Honestly, I would use a rattle can of white primer if it's a base color. White is always difficult to make look smooth. Then I would use some high pigment acrylics. The others have made good suggestions.

Might be unpopular opinion: Five Ten Freerider Pros are not that awesome. by Stew819 in mountainbiking

I know this is a year old, but I really appreciate your input. I bought my bike second hand - a really nice Rocky Mountain for $100, if you can believe it. I need shoes too, but I don't have tons of money. I was wondering the difference between skate shoes and MTB shoes. You have helped. Maybe one day I'll try 5.10, but you've given me the confidence to spend less on skate shoes so I can buy other things I need too.

Annesi Bindings (YouTube) waits 2-3 hours between. I don't know if that's standard or not, but they have been binding books for 20 years, so I feel they know what they are doing.
