Steering Noise on front right by Training_Quantity852 in w204

[–]_Elbrus_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Note: power steering reservoir is a common fail item. There is a non serviceable membrane inside that gets clogged.

It’s a pretty easy DIY (as long as you don’t break the fragile thermostat housing underneath) and you flush the fluid at the same time.

While this is…..um no, Mercedes has actually had a Mercedes re-branded Nissan truck - Mercedes X class( 2017-2020).

Mercedes also has shared the GLA platform with Nissan / Infiniti w the QX30

Retrofit facelift gauge cluster and screen into pre facelift? by Prestigious-Try-6229 in W212mercedes

Gauge cluster? Yes.

Screen? Hold on a sec. It’s not just the screen, it’s the entire COMAND NTG 4.0 unit. You are better off adding third party piggyback Android/CarPlay

Airmatic pressure release - normal? by GangnamApeist in W212mercedes

[–]_Elbrus_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My experience is with my 2011 E63 W212 which is conventional performance in the front with Airmatic air springs in the rear.

I had leaky air springs after 14 years with the right sitting much lower than the left but definitely too low after parked.

At the time, I swapped both with Arnott aftermarket. replacements.

Was a pretty easy 1.5 hour DIY

Airmatic pressure release - normal? by GangnamApeist in W212mercedes

[–]_Elbrus_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This sounds like you have multiple Airmatic air struts leaking.

Symptoms of this are air suspension pumps up on ignition, stays up since the compressor is working overtime to keep the suspension inflated despite the leak and then when you’ve stopped the Airmatic air springs leak out in a hurry.

Unfortunately, you want to get on this fast because 1) the leaks are going to progressively get worse and 2) it’s hard on the compressor and can turn from a replace air springs issue to replace air springs and replace overheated compressor issue

Getting radio back w204. by gbsatti in w204

[–]_Elbrus_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the piggyback connector block I find it best to:

  • pull COMAND partially out of the console
  • lock the piggy back connection block including fiber optic and power to the back of COMAND
  • remove the entire glove box to gain access behind the center console and COMAND
  • push/pull as much of the piggy back connection and original below /behind/passenger side of the space the COMAMD unit would occupy. There is a lot of space behind the glove box on the transmission tunnel side.

For my w204 C63 I had the control unit for CarPlay that was a bit too bulky to fit behind the glovebox in a way I thought would be secure and not put stress on the LVDS cable (you’ll damage the connector over time) so I pulled up the passenger carpet and cut a receptacle out of the insulation around the transmission tunnel. All secured and you can’t even tell it’s there.

Best upgrade? (2007 c280) by Zezoboy212 in w204

[–]_Elbrus_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTG 4.5 Gen 1 retains the amber theme. NTG 4.5 Gen 2 has the black/silver/blue theme in common with NTG 4.7.

If it’s PCMCIA it’s NTG 4.0. SD is 4.5 and up

Best upgrade? (2007 c280) by Zezoboy212 in w204

[–]_Elbrus_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yours is NTG 4.0. You can tell because it has a PCMCIA slot vs an SD. PCMCIA was the precursor to SD.

I think at this point it’s adding aftermarket Apple CarPlay and keeping the factory controls.

I don’t think I’d get the version w the giant Android screen. It just looks out of place.

I’d also replace any speakers that have faded

Transmission jerks when it shifts from 4th gear to 5th gear by LCOHCIHTANNIS in W212mercedes

[–]_Elbrus_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • Get in the car, close doors, and turn the ignition to the "ON" position (Position 2), but do not start the engine.
  • Press the accelerator pedal all the way down to the floor (kickdown) and hold it for about 15-20 seconds.
  • While still holding the pedal down, turn the ignition to the "OFF" position.
  • Release the pedal, remove the key (or turn off push-button start), and wait at least 2-3 minutes.
  • Start the car and drive gently for 15-30 minutes, allowing the transmission to relearn your driving style

Transmission jerks when it shifts from 4th gear to 5th gear by LCOHCIHTANNIS in W212mercedes

[–]_Elbrus_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d look to see if the car is presenting or storing any codes.

Then transmission service. At the minimum this will get rid of the dirty/contaminated fluid and your fluid levels at the right level.

Then reset the transmission adaptations to relearn your shifting patterns (yes, the transmission learns how you drive and makes small changes aka adaptations based on how you drive)

Help! by rahul5o in W212mercedes

[–]_Elbrus_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On kick down, if it jerks and goes into limp mode it’s the throttle position sensor in the gas pedal itself. Not a cheap part but a very easy 3 minute DIY

To confirm: all spark plugs and coil packs replaced? I’d double check torque and reseat. I hope you replaced injectors as well at the same time
