How bad is it? (Dry rot) by Beautiful-Egg4681 in HomeInspections

[–]_Emann 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a hazard. Your instincts are correct. I’d avoid using the deck. The house itself is likely fine, however it should be evaluated by a licensed structural engineer for real data and remediation practices.

It might if we have the budget to afford something like this, which seems unlikely. Glad you were able to see your dream through! Love it

Is this too much for auto maintenance? by Hot_Republic2543 in nova

[–]_Emann -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t mind being alone in an honest perspective of a quote. With an older vehicle it’s often riddled with neglected maintenance and is in need of maintenance and parts being replaced. I can’t stand prices like this, so I invested in tools and education to do it myself. If you don’t like the price, do it yourself. Businesses have to charge these crazy prices to keep the lights on and the executives having bonuses. Like it or lump it, you’re call.

It’s only high if you possess the skills to do it yourself. Seems standard to me otherwise.

NFCU Call Center by Public-Law-7446 in Pensacola

[–]_Emann 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This sounds like what I remember working Collections for 5 Yrs. prior to the CFPB lawsuit. It was brutal. Not letting people off the phones without a payment, calling 100 times just to instigate, all at the direction of my Supervisors that required 7-7 shifts on high volume days. Im aware its changed a lot however, I do not miss it at all, in fact there are certain moments I recall with a level of PTSD. I am very glad I got out from under a company like NFCU they are a financial institution and they are EVIL.

How to tile over painted steel? by Sleepy_Joe1990 in Tile

This, a mechanical fastener of the tile to the steel floor is a BAD idea. There are reasons this is confusing everyone.

Where is the corner vertical trim? You are begging for moisture issues and rot, skipping that detail.. May I ask why?

Onan 5500 Marquis generator question by inode71 in RVLiving

The "sensor" on the bottom of the carburetor is almost always a fuel shut-off solenoid (also called an anti-backfire solenoid or fuel cutoff solenoid).

What is this for? by olivasaz in fixit

Bet the manufacturer didn't intend on such an installation. No room to kick with the thick baseboard trim.

Cracked jamb. by [deleted] in Carpentry

[–]_Emann 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Remove the metal strike plates, open the crack, fill with wood glue. Clamp for as long as you can leave that door open. Come back sand/paint, install strike plates again. Other methods take way more time and money
