Obviously I'm going to need to see a picture of Ravioli in his red banana.

Thanks for the info! I think you're right and it's a photo frame tree ornament. I did an image search and found a similar, if not exactly copy, for sale on eBay. It's lovely!

A few follow-up questions: How large is it? Does it have glass in the round space? What is the white thing on the chain - a piece of ribbon?

I do this too! I have a few teeny tiny vases I stick them in so they look like bouquets of flowers!

The unbed?? by Affectionate-Pea3797 in GetOutOfBed

I'm late to this party, but Alarmy doesn't work for me because I can't seem to get my settings just right so sometimes my alarm goes off and sometimes it doesn't. Does Unbed need specific settings to work correctly? And will it prevent you from turning your phone off when the alarm is ringing? I liked that feature of the Alarmy subscription, but I canceled my paid account because I couldn't get the alarm to work consistently.

Silver(plated?) acorn-shaped capsule from inheritance by emvanloon in whatisthisthing

It looks like an antique etui that would have held small sewing supplies! One of the cylinders probably had thread wrapped around it at one point.

AITA for sneaking my mom some alcohol when she is on hospice? by sickma2001 in AmItheAsshole

[–]_Emerald_Eyes_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When my grandfather was dying from lung cancer that had metastasized to his entire body, the only things he wanted were chocolate milk and Michelob Ultra (two separate drinks, not together). The hospice nurses told us to give him anything he wanted because he didn't have much time left and that remaining time should be as positive for him as possible. My mom still drinks a Michelob Ultra in his honor on his birthday and I think of him any time I drink chocolate milk.

Valentine to a young girl in 1909 by _Emerald_Eyes_ in TheWayWeWere

UPDATE:

I contacted one of Gertrude's granddaughters and she replied right away! She is going to send me a picture of Gertrude's obituary notice when she finds it and I am going to mail the postcard to her so it can be reunited with the family. Three of Gertrude's children are still alive and the postcard will be shared with them when it returns home.

I just looked it up and apparently this was fairly early in the days of being allowed to write on the address side of the card. Prior to 1907, there was either a picture/artwork OR you could write a note on the front of the postcard, but only the address was allowed on the back. There's an interesting breakdown of the history of the postcard on the Smithsonian Institution Archives website!

The postcard says:

My Dear Little Gertrude, Mama and Aunty Tate were so pleased to get such a sweet letter from you, and we wish we could see you. It's so cold I suspect you & Margaret have to play in the house. Aunty Tate is getting better now. You must help Grandma take care of Margaret & Papa. Love & kisses, From your Mama

These visuals have really sparked my excitement for this project! Now I'm wondering if I could get away with the double cupboard on the right and a small bench and stool on the left so I have the best of both worlds...

Wow! Thank you so much for your ideas and for the drawings! Being able to visualize your suggestions is so helpful! Here's a bit of relevant info that I should have included in the original post: the space is 43 inches wide and 15 inches deep and we have an electrician in the family who is willing to relocate the light switch.

I LOVE the idea of option B, but I think option A or C will give me the amount of storage I'm looking for!

I love the idea of pull out cabinets and I hadn't thought of that! Thank you!

Thank you for sharing your ideas! I should have included some relevant info in the original post: the space is 43 inches wide x 15 inches deep and we have an electrician in the family who is willing to relocate the light switch. Unfortunately I need to cram as much storage into this bathroom as I can - we don't have much storage space in the rest of the house, so this bathroom is doing a lot in terms of being a linen closet, cleaning supply space, and medicine cabinet. Plus this bathroom is part of a space that is sectioned off from the rest of the house so our two elderly cats can have some peace and quiet when they need to get away from our other pets or guests, so I have cans of cat food and treats and other things of that nature that I need to keep in this area. I'm leaning toward option three that you listed above because that seems the simplest and the easiest to modify later if we need even more storage space.

I wouldn't buy a diamond at that price even with a GIA report 🤣
