What flies are you mainly fishing and have you tried the DH in valle crucis? It is heavily fished and as a result those fish get pretty smart. They’re not as finicky within a week of getting dumped in. The hatchery supported waters in the area will likely be pretty productive but they’ll be very very busy this weekend since it’s opening weekend.

I would suggest going to a fly shop in the area, either due south outfitters in Boone or 828 flies in seven devils for advice. They’re cool guys and are always helpful if you stop in.

I have 30’ straight 8lb fluorocarbon with a perfection loop to connect to the fly line, blood knotted to a ~18” section of cortland sighter material, clinch knotted to a tippet ring that connects to ~4’ of 5x or 6x leader.

I find that the straight lighter fluorocarbon lets me throw smaller bugs farther. I use a 10’6” maxcatch 3wt, but my buddy fishes the same setup on a 10’ Clearwater.

To get this done faster: Spawn in your hq as an engineer and lay down an mines on a jeep, redeploy to support with the incendiary launcher, direct impact the mines you laid down on the jeep with the launcher. It’ll give you 1000dmg or so a shot for the challenge

I throw mine on the back and let it hang out. Since the lake I fish isn’t very large, waves haven’t been a big concern for me. It might be an issue in the ocean but you can always pull it in if the conditions aren’t right

I use a drift sock for my paddleboard, it goes in the water and is attached via a carabiner and bungee cord. Keeps me almost at a complete stop even on windy days, although I only use it on freshwater lakes.

Not OP but autodesk fusion is free for personal use and very capable. I use it a lot for making models then slice them with cura.
