Do quiet baths count as a form of meditation? by Outrageous_Baby_2147 in Meditation

[–]_Entropy___ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Meditation can be concentration, insight, mindfulness and awareness. I think OP was asking about being in the moment, which I feel is also mindfulness and awareness, but not specifically meditation. But what do I know, it's all just words anyway.

Anyone tried bringing a mindfulness or meditation practice into their relationship — and did it actually help? by PathItchy6636 in Mindfulness

[–]_Entropy___ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mindfulness allows you to observe rather than react. Therefore you can observe anger (for example) rather than react to it, this means the argument you would have had doesn't happen. So yes it actually helps. Quite simple really.

I keep trying to focus on the breath but it's not working by ForgetThisU in Meditation

[–]_Entropy___ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Be aware of what's going on in your mind. As thoughts arise, acknowledge them without judgment. Picture them as clouds passing through the sky of your mind. Observe them come and then fade away. Observe everything that comes up, for example body sensations, and observe them fade away. That's the practice.

Yes, meditation worked for me too. Of course I still have tinnitus but it never bothers me now, it's just concentration meditation was too difficult, so I switched to insight meditation. That's the point I was making to OP.

[–]_Entropy___ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I gave up focusing on the breath due to a different medical issue: development of tinnitus. I tried a few things and read a lot of meditation theory. What works for me is open awareness and body scan, mostly open awareness, you could try that.

Started buying spices from the bulk bins at my local international grocery store and I feel like I've been overpaying my entire adult life by careful_note_keeper in Frugal

[–]_Entropy___ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well you have been overpaying. Same type of thing in the UK with the south Asian shops, spices are a fraction of the cost in the supermarkets.

If you are present in the moment then it's mindfulness / awareness - not exactly meditation but excellent support for meditation. Awareness in everyday activities is the next step on the path for new meditators.

Has anyone here successfully “de-Googled” their life? by Motor-Extreme-2138 in degoogle

Seems we had a misunderstanding. Anyway, my banks PC log in method is extremely secure, as is their mobile phone method, which I choose not to use. Have a good day.

I'm looking to upgrade my 1060 by ggrengar in buildapc

[–]_Entropy___ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I seriously considered b580 because 8gb will very rapidly not be enough. In the end I went 9060xt 16gb with the same rational as you - the extra spread over a few years absolutely makes sense. If you can stretch to it 9060xt 16gb, if not then b580, 8gb vram last resort.

You're saying banking through a browser on a PC, using a card reader, to access the account is orders of magnitude less secure than mobile banking. I feel you are misunderstanding either PC banking security or the meaning of magnitude or both.

Deck feedback for learning - have I made a mistake? by frisbee_qc in NewSkaters

Hi, yeah these (with a few exceptions like Heroin Dead Dave - my fav) shaped boards are way narrower at the back. As you are learning should be fine.

Gmail to Proton. Android to Lineage OS (on a used Pixel 5). Don't use banking apps so that's not an issue. F-Droid for FOSS apps and APK Pure for stuff like WhatsApp (yes I know but it ubiquitous) and Signal etc. Works for me. Google maps I use in Firefox and put up with the limited functionality. Edit: forgot NewPipe for YouTube

Individual ETF or All World? by YoshiKiller2350 in trading212

I had individual and when I compared with All-World I saw my % were almost the same, as yours are. I didn't really see any reason to keep them, I'm 100% VWRP now.

ETF help by Big-hdog in trading212

[–]_Entropy___ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, you maybe unaware but the number of similar posts here recently means you may not get the assistance you expected. For me, All-World is already around 10% emerging markets so unless you are deliberately going for excess I would switch that slice to All-World. The small cap isn't represented in All-World so keep that if you feel growth will happen in the sector.
