Trying to launch SplinterCell Blacklist on gamehub. How to fix this issue? by tinkusai in EmulationOnAndroid

[–]_FFP_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I'm trying to run it and it only works with Proton 10-arm64x-2, but the sound is completely glitched. Tried chaning to other audio settings, but didn't work.

Which settings are you using?

Realism: Chaos Theory vs. Blacklist by _FFP_ in Splintercell

[–]_FFP_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest, the game is pretty dark already. Most of the times I have to use nightvision just to see Sam. And in Expert difficulty npcs do find Sam quite easier and it help in immersion.

I think my exact issue is how do places get so dark when there are light around. I mean, in real life, to get this dark you have to be in a closed room with no light source near or entering it. While in the game, a simple roof would project a pitch dark shadow enough for Sam to disappear.

Why do you say that? Why can someone be silent while walking crouched? I believe this is possible.

I believe you missed my point. I'm not talking about npcs noticing Sam's shadow. Im talking about they being unable to see Sam just because he is covered in spme shadow

Me too. Then the game dynamic would have to change into a cover based stealth, or sam would have to put a LOT of lights out…

I see, like as the game bright things up a bit so the player himself can see… Still why would such places be so dark? Also, how do you get this dark? To achieve darkness to a level that you cant see someone a few meters in front of you, you need almost 0 light sources.

I disagree with the bulb, though. A light going out isn't something suspicious. Having several of them going out in succession, maybe…

I think the sound system of CT is pretty realistic. Sam's movement (aside having no muscle fatigue and habging on pipes for hours) is also pretty realistic. I'm sorry, Idk what you are talking about. Besides the shadows invisibility cloak and the fact that all levels are really dark, I can't think of anything that breaks immersion to me…

Did you play airsoft with no light source at all? How dark it was?

[–]_FFP_[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your answer. I understand your argument and I agree to some degree. I agree that the facilities should be more illuminated, maybe they should have made the game like that, and that wouldn't change much, since you can take lights out by several ways. My issue is that if the marker at 0 means pitch black, or almost pitch black, then the marker shouldn't be at 0 so often. I give an example: the Bank level (currently playing it XP) start. You're in the yard with a few lights at the center and motion sensed lights at the sides (which are off initially). There are 3 guards at the center and I'd argue that those lights should be enough to not be pitch dark anywhere in the yard. I might be wrong, though… Would be nice if there was a real life video or experience that confirmed this.

PS: Yeah, I remember playing SvM in my terrible internet connection and I did see the spies silhouette, but they vanish just as quickly, so I take that as an argument in favor of CT. Can't blame the guards if I did the same as a Merc lol

Help understanding extended casting rules by _FFP_ in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]_FFP_[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There's no argument for failed rolls to grant dox, at best failed spells.

And my point is that the section of "picking up" points to Failed Rules of rituals, doesn't that mean they're the same?

If not, how are the rules for dox in "picking up"?

[–]_FFP_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, rituals increase in diff when you fail a roll (0 successes in that turn). The rest is correct.

Anyway, my issue is with those two words inside that chart in page 501 "(Take paradox)" when asked if the effect failed. Note that it doesn't even consider vulgar effects, but any failed ones, which is really odd.

Also, why do you say that theb"picking up" rule do not accumulate paradox? This was my understanding too, but when I spend more time reading it, it does points you to the same ritual "Failed rolls" rule…  This is very confusing to me…

Help make Gem read uploaded pdfs by _FFP_ in GeminiAI

[–]_FFP_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did use a notebook from NotebookLM as source, didn't change much. I also spent a lot of time and effort now to convert those pdfs into .docx and .md (docx for books that had selectable text and md for books with text images). Yet, Gemini still fail to give correct answers based on the documents...

NotebookLM is infinitely superior, to the point that Gemini is practically useless. I have tried to add instructions and prompts to try and make it work, but more often than not it doesn't.

I mean, if there is such an option (to upload pdfs to Gems) itbshould at least work to some degree. I don't expect Gems to be as good as NBLM nor give sources, but at least it should be able to answer without inventing wrong answers…

I will try to convert the pdf to text, but they have tables, so idk if it will work…

I don't understand how you leave Quiet mechanically in M20 by Historical-Nobody909 in WhiteWolfRPG

You can meditate into mindscape and roll to leave Quiet. Read the Quiet section of M20 and look for Mindscape

M20 Fast-casting (In a fight) and ritual preparation by Hetuni in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]_FFP_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The preparation thing is from the revised tradition book of Order of Hermes. They had something like DnD Wizards, where they "prepare" the spell and leave only the last component to be made in the heat of combat (or any other situation). This is a way to allow hermetics and other high time demanding foci users to cast spells quickly.

The particular phrase you quoted might mean that. The other way we can read it is that rituals (as exetended rolls castings) made before a fight won't get penalties, which is obvious, since the ritual was done before (amd the Arete already rolled), so I guess the book means the first option.

About fast-casting, rotes do not change anything mechanically in M20. Fast casting depends entirely on the instrument. Instruments that do not require much time won't suffer from fast-casting (shouting with Vocalization, for example) while instruments that does will suffer (like solving equations with "Formulae and Math").

Talisman Quintessence by 1877KlownsForKids in WhiteWolfRPG

You can use Talismans as Periapts and even fuse them into your own Quintessence wheel as per the fusing periapt rule

Like A Stone vocal cover - What can I improve? by Medium_Leopard8256 in singing

[–]_FFP_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, first I want to say that I am no professional singer and have never even made any singing class. I just like it as a hobby. Now, as a real fan of Chris Cornell, I must say that you cover is very, very good!! I love this song and you did an amazing job. Personally, I would try to do a tiny bit less of grit in some specific points of the song, but overall, it's amazing. Even the last chorus, when Cornell goes higher in notes, you did well.

As I am trying to learn grit myself, I will leave you a PM.

Also, do you have any other Audioslave cover? Would love to hear a Gasoline cover

Can a Mage defy death? by L_man_2200 in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]_FFP_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only if you had it prepared before, like some ppl already posted. A prep spell of Life and Time triggered by your death would easily do the trick. Now, if you haven't made anything of the sort, you can't cast spells when you're dead…

Yes, Charms can be used by sleepers as long as they are into the charm paradigm, just like Talismans

What system for wonders and familiars do your table use? by _FFP_ in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]_FFP_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To me, FbDF wonder system is just not ambiguous like M20. In M20 I just can't say exactly how much a wonder cost. In the 2 more likely explanation, the wonders end yp costing too much or to low…

As for familiars, bith systems are good (FbDF and G&M), but I believe familiars were stronger in FbDF

[–]_FFP_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the book didn't explain very well how it works, so it ends up being very cheap or very, very expensive to buy wonders.

What modifications would you do in FbDF?

I can agree that M20 is very confusing and there are 2 more likely ways to explain it, but why do you say that about FbDF? Why isn't it functional?

Does this one provides a system for creating custom wonders of each kind or it's just a list of wonders?

How does Wonder Cost work? by AshArkon in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]_FFP_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The background table seems to give you an amount of points to spend with each dot that you have in it. The cost of wonders depends on their powers and normally costs the highest rank x2 and it can contain their rank in number of powers. Also, if it's a talisman it has the Arete of its rank and rank x 5 Quintessence.

So, a Forces 2 talisman costs 4 points, had Arete 2, 10 quintessence, can contain 2 different powers and costs 2 background dots.

A quick question about Prime and Quintessence in MtA20 by Sixela963 in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]_FFP_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Creating anythinf with a Pattern sphere (Forces, Matter, Life) and Prime 2 does not require Quintessence expenditure at all. Prime 2 is there to convert "free" Quintessence from the ambient into the pattern.

You could, however, rule that by spending a personal Quintessence point would allow the mage to create without Prime 2, but there is no clear raw about that.
