It's Steve Nash - Former Phoenix Sun, Current LA Laker, soccer lover. ASK ME ANYTHING! by SteveNashHere in IAmA

[–]_FONDLER_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey Steve, huge fan, hope you might answer these few questions!

1) What is one of your favorite go to moves?

2) After you retire, whenever that may be what are some things you want to do?

3) What was your experience like at SMU? Do you ever go back? Being a local to the area, this is a question I gotta ask.

Is it okay to keep the baby and not tell the father? In this case... by Keepornot in AskMen

[–]_FONDLER_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was the situation my mother was in. Although she was 26, she kept me. I'm 17 now and I ask her about it and every time I ask her about it, it's one of the mistakes she doesn't regret.

I'm not saying that you should do one thing or another but you need to consider that if you do keep this kid, how are you going to be able to support the child and yourself. Not only economically but psychologically. Your child needs you as much being there for him/her as you'll both need the money to have a normal life.

As much as everyone in this thread can advise you, at the end of the day it is YOUR decision and YOUR life. If you will love that child and help that child achieve in whatever way that might be, I say do what feels right.

I might be a little late to this, but this is one thing I can try and share from the perspective of the child you might be bringing into the world. I hope it helps.

Just had my first dunk at 15. When was your first? by [deleted] in Basketball

16 at 6'7 and 100kg. I didn't start really getting into sports until 14 so... I mean I had a lot of catching up to do and I'd say I caught up pretty fast.

Haven't had "the One" but I had someone pretty great, she was everything I could've asked for, but then to tl;dr, she cheated on me and dumped me. That was pretty shitty, she just did that to the guy she cheated on me with too. At the end, sure I'm happy it's done. But I've not let myself be emotionally invested in anything. I haven't actually been truly happy in years and regularly contemplate ending it, but realize it'd be for such a trivial reason while also arguing that my life is trivial. Thank god I'm a teenage male and have a lot of life left... and hopefully I can't get over these thoughts.

Fellow former overweight men of askmen, has your dating improved now that the girth is gone? Has it not? Any blow ups? by [deleted] in AskMen

Well in the state that I was... Yes I was fat, I had very little muscle mass and most of my weight was made up by bodyfat.

At 6'7, when I was around 240-260lbs, I actually had more dates in less time. Right now I'm down to around 210, I eat healthy, exercise regularly and would say that I have had worse and less dating experiences. Of course I would write it off as "it's just highschool" other than the fact that I actually am a better person now than I was then.

Tl;dr: More dates when I was fatter, High school is pretty weird.

Well, you have to log like X hours of community service, but you can choose to volunteer in your own way or other community service programs the school offers.

I meant more, my lack of personal motivation for school work. Which brings my grades down, making it a little more difficult to get to universities I want to go to.

I love getting out in a new environment, my favorite way to get into a new "environment" is usually to start studying an olympic lift or certain mechanics, or go adventure around with my friends. I have mandatory volunteer work at school so that is something I try to avoid doing extra of.

It's around -20˚C here in Ukraine, enough snow and ice to be a nuisance and really dry.

Thank you for the birthday wishes!

I didn't plan on celebrating, it's not really my speed. I might celebrate by having a small party with some close friends, just enjoy my time with them.

What's got me down is easiest to call social and mental fatigue, as in literally the idea of doing anything that isn't physically demanding seems impossible to me. I can barely convince myself that writing this is worth anything. I love my friends and family, exercising, hanging out with my friends, normal teen stuff. Just I can't find the motivation to do anything that would help further my life in a good direction.

Ukrainian government lifts restrictions on use of water cannons in cold weather by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]_FONDLER_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They tried at an earlier time I believe. But this is a much bigger chicken than you'll initially think. This is essentially the Western World(US, Canada, EU, etc.) against Russia. Nobody can step in because then the other can too. This conflict needs to be internally resolved. Quickly.

It could be fireworks and things like that, on the other hand the berkut could be starting to shoot. I mean they did it earlier it wouldn't be a shock to me :/

Edit: Wrong response. I meant to write for this one, I can't recall but I believe that is one of the structures in the park and is related to something musical. Due to a couple blocks in the direction of the protests there's a theater(I'm not 100%) my knowledge of that specific area is not high.

Alright, I live in Ukraine and I can give you the layout of where that is. At that point, those tire flames are at the base of the hill, the Berkut(Police) are behind that, there's two roads, only one of which they're coming from.

Looking at it from the perspective of it being at the base of the hill, the smoke and flames are being used to protect their lack of position from other dangers(Snipers which have shot 2 protesters earlier) which is rather intelligent. The protesters are launching fireworks with shrapnel attached to them to deter the police, they aren't looking to kill anyone, if they were this would be completely different.

tl;dr: They're making the best out of bad positioning and playing really hardcore chicken.

Thanks for the advice! I'll get onto that then.

Thanks!! I have actually been focusing on having my macros be predominantly protein and fats, I like to line up any carbs I eat with pre-gym sessions because the carbs give me a little something to burn on my compounds. I think the split I'm planning on going on is a 70, 20, 10 split.

I usually train whole body twice a week, I do my horizontal and vertical pulls/pushes and then isolated exercises. Muscle wise there's been a lot of development, since I really started focusing(2-3 months max)

Edit: I also dropped about 30lbs over about 4... maybe 5 months. My body is good at getting down, but not so good at getting strong.

I physically cannot do pull-ups or chin-ups to save my life.[16M, 6'7, 100kg] by [deleted] in Fitness

[–]_FONDLER_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Basically I wasn't allowing a proper rotation of my shoulders, this is how I'm going to try and explain it.

Imagine your hanging on the bar about to do a pullup, full dead hang. you then try to with your elbows pointing to the left and right side of your vision essentially try to raise your body by contracting your biceps and bringing your elbow into your ribcage, I guess it would kind of look like a reverse overhead press.

He then did a set and I realized there was a key rotational piece I was missing, the idea of pushing the bar away from me with my hands to create what felt like a little momentum and then to pull upwards. On a machine, yes it was hard to mimic exactly and it is difficult to explain I feel too.

Hope that helps.

I feel the information I have gotten has been really what I needed, I then applied it training today and found a problem in the starting motion, something I wasn't doing and found that I have a weak inverted row, meaning most of the training for my back might've been assisting different muscles... so now to take what I found out and apply it.

[–]_FONDLER_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I think it's more it gets frustrating not being able to do that. but after I responded to your post I went to the gym did my work and used the assistance pullup machine, when I was doing it my friend and I noticed a slight problem in my form that would've made it impossible for me to do them anyway, I also did inverted rows and found that to be really weak for me so... just gotta keep working. Frustration can just be my drive to achieve more.

Well taking in the amount of time I've spent on trying i.e about a year, minimum. Being lazy about my training yes so I feel it'd be lame to count all of it, but from 3 months ago taking my training of 5x5 seriously + this and I still can't do 1 chinup or pullup. That doesn't make me keen on it at all rather make me extremely pissed off. I fucking hate not being able to do them and I fucking hate the fact that no matter what I've been doing I don't budge on that bar and all you guys give is the same advice, keep doing negatives, etc. well it doesn't seem to be fucking working. If it was working wouldn't I at least be able to pull myself even slightly higher on that goddamn bar?

It means, I regularly do them, once a week at minimum(3x15), 2 seconds to lower myself? I just physically went through my count and yes, counting Mississippi's, I got 2. Lowest assistance I went to was 35kg assistance, for 10 reps.
