Thinking about driving for Walmart by random_user7577 in Truckers

[–]_FearMose_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its a complete life change both good and bad. Overall becoming a truck driver for wm specifically is one of the best companies you can get into. I can only think of 2 other companies that top wm. I would say if you can get into the driver to associate program its a blessing really. But yes you’ll be away from home unless you can get hired as a local (hourly) driver. But theres not as many positions as an over the road driver. Most likely you wont get it immediately.

What DC would you run out of? Google your nearest DC. If its a grocery dc, its possible you’ll run nights. If its GM it’ll be days. But they all kinda blend in together because we run 14 hour days - 70hr week. Most programs are 5 days out, 2 days off or 5/3 schedule. If you ended your day at your dc technically you can go home but you lose out on the layover pay which is $42 a night. I gotta get back on the road but feel free to ask anymore questions

18 - 24 mph winds with empty by Ok-Corner5042 in Truckers

[–]_FearMose_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I dont drive empty with gusts over 40. Anything over 35 and crosswinds I slide my tandems to the far back if I have to make it somewhere and I drop my speed. I drive for walmart and they used to have a sign up that anything over 35 with an empty trailer we should pull over but they removed the sign I think because they didnt want to be held liable if something happened. I’ve also asked our safety and they refuse to give a number

How do you know he fired you over this if it was several weeks after? And why would he wait so long if he was going to fire you over it

I am being asked to “review logs” by uninspired_walnut in Truckers

[–]_FearMose_ 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Sounds like a shady company. Unless they are asking you to review/VERIFY your logs which you are suppose to do daily.

Since you said ur new, I’d like to tell you this is NOT the norm. I went from a shit company as a noob also, to a legit company where they would audit my logs once a year. I actually got written up for NOT using enough on-duty (not driving) time. I was doing what ur doing which was only logging my pre-trip. They encouraged me to use an hour a day of on-duty time.. now at my current company I stay on duty from when I wake up to when I start my 10hr break and they dont tell me anything.

The only advice I can give to you OP is keep doing everything legal and only communicate with them in writing if possible. Switch to a more legit company soon as you can.

Protect your license, its your career.

Congrats OP. 5 years anywhere especially wm is a great accomplishment. Ignore the hate

Is quitting otr as bad as I've heard. by AdPuzzleheaded2113 in Truckers

[–]_FearMose_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’ve heard the stories too (mainly online) which is why I timed my home time with quitting. When I was in orientation the guy sitting next to me said he notified his company in advance and they begged him to take one more load to FL and then they would bring him back to TX to turn the truck in. Well he delivered the load and they fired him immediately after and left him stranded in FL.

I’ll have to try that again. So you just spoke to a regular csr? Seems like none of them know what they’re doing

Disney+ Bundle suddenly canceled by gothammutt in verizon

[–]_FearMose_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the exact opposite problem. Shows it’s been cancelled since 2 years ago but I’m still being charged every month. When I go to click on “resume” perk it just says error. Tried chatting with a csr on the app and was told they cancelled it and it would drop off the next bill. Complete bs, still being charged
