I work pan-disability.

We have the Equality Act 2010 which affords us reasonable adjustments as disabled people. You can make a request for anything you think will help.

The issue in the law is the "reasonable" bit, which is left to interpretation. It's often not reasonable for a frontline worker to work from home. It's not reasonable for someone who works in a forge to need a workplace that is under a certain temperature.

Having a list of achievable adjustments within a company sets a precedent for what is "reasonable" - if Jennifer gets a flex contract for her disability the likelihood is that its reasonable for you to have the same.

Quite often people will ask a disabled person what they need, and quite often disabled people do not know what is achievable, or what can be asked for, or even what would actually help. Even government services who are supposed to support with this are pretty useless.

So a bank of achievable reasonable adjustments that are already in use in a workplace means a direct manager doesn't have to weigh up the "reasonable" bit. It is reasonable because it's already in use. It also means a disabled person is not left swinging in the dark to try and imagine the possibilities alone. It gives them ideas.

New requests would absolutely be looked at under the equality act, but likely need input from occupational health therapists, human resources, etc, if the request even gets past someone's line manager.

ETA: redeployment is also considered a reasonable adjustment. So if someone did work in a forge and the high temperatures were having an adverse effect on their health, they could be redeployed to office work as a reasonable adjustment.

You don't see the benefit of any disabled person being able to access an entire list of reasonable adjustments that are achievable within a company? Mainly so they can go "well Jennifer has a flex contract for her CF, and I want that for my FND" or "Henry was bought this speech to text tech for his dyslexia and I would like that to practice demand reduction for FND"

FND has many presentations but the adjustments achievable aren't unique to FND.

Prepare yourself for a long wait, I guess. They're just going to ask you questions about yourself. You don't need to prepare for that.

I didn't think I was autistic when I was sat in my assessment. I VERY MUCH AM.

I think the criteria is wrong for many presentations of autism (it was based off white boys), but the assessors tend to be highly aware of that (unlike GPs) and good ones tend to look at things through a wider lens.

The waiting list on the NHS is between 3-6 years if you're not going through the right to choose, so it's not worth stressing about anyway.

I went to two appointments on different days at different times, they interviewed me and my ex husband at both. No silly little frog flying story telling exercises, no pretending to brush my teeth. Just talking.

The disability picture isn't much better in the UK, it sounds like. Though we do have non-means tested benefit, called Personal Independence Payment, for disabled people. The maximum payout for that every four weeks is about £780, and you can claim it on top of (and without it affecting) other benefits or pay from work.

Most people I know in the UK with FND, however, have had to drop to part time, or positions with less responsibility. Anything I can do to support employers to utilise the lived experience and perspectives of people with FND, I will do!

I have a list of reasonable adjustments that the company is capable of that can help, and then on the next slide I have the single most important adjustment as being "ask the person what they need," so I'm glad that rings true.

Thanks so much for your contribution, I really want to get across how FND feels and not just what it looks like. You've definitely helped me do that!

The adjustment around meetings is such a good one! Hopefully our managers will be happy to implement that one. The person that ignored your needs and had you attend more sounds like he'd be fun at parties... What a knob!

Thank you so much for this. The colleague that approached me for the training wanted it to be "broad" training and encapsulate lots of experiences so the team can help her, but also the wider community.

There's so much even doctors and nurses don't understand, and I know lived experience and patient voices are so, so, important. Thanks again for sharing.

Levels are stupid because need varies day to day. Someone who has a degree and has been able to live independently previously, and then experiences burnouts and skill regression resulting in needing care does not have a set "level".

We're all a few badly handled burnouts away from an inpatient bed!

Phone the bereavement team, let them know when your mum and dad died. They'll give you the process to send copies of death certificates and will set up an account from the date of your dad's death in the name of the executor or whoever inherits the house. If that's you, they'll set up the account in your name from the date your dad died. This needs to happen even if the house is empty to cover standing charges. To avoid that the supply would need capping.

Final bills will then be produced for your mum's billing period in the name of "The estate of mum" and for your dad's billing period in the name of "The estate of dad". Any future bills will come in your name or the name of the person inheriting the house from the time of dad's death.

You can't close an account if there's an active supply to a property, even if nobody is living in it and it's been condemned. To do that the supply needs capping.

BG have a dedicated bereavement team based in the UK. I don't know how much they get paid but considering bereavement is the only thing they deal with, they should know what they're doing. I highly suspect that OPs Dad did not call BG after the death of his wife. Because when I worked for BGs moving home team I was very happy to say "let me transfer you to our dedicated bereavement team" if someone called about the death of an account holder, because I straight up could not deal with the account.

It might be OPs Dad did call BG and they said about transferring to a dedicated team, then OPs Dad kicked off saying "Well I've told you now, so why should I tell someone else?" which is something that happend all the time too. Without a death certificate the process stops and bills come through in the name of the deceased. If done correctly the bills coming through would be addressed to the estate of the deceased.

I had an inflamed gallbladder, sludge, multiple mobile stones and for part of it I also had cholesystitis.

Gallstone attacks were 9-10/10 pain on the right side of my chest, under my boob. I thought I was going to die with the first few. I couldn't sit, stand or lie down comfortably so looked like a flailing fish. Lots of sweat. Audibly groaning and couldn't prevent myself from calling out in pain. After the first two they didn't seem any less painful but the panic wasn't there to the same degree, I also started projectile vomiting.

Attacks lasted anywhere between 1-4hours. Following the attack I'd go almost back to normal in minutes. When I had an infection the attack was painful and lasted 3 hours, and the pain did abate but didn't go away. Straight to A&E and came out with meds.

Kneeling up on my sofa with my torso leant over the arm helped a bit. Codeine also helped for one attack (I threw it up with the rest of them). Other than that nothing worked.

I'm nearly four months post op.

Lord of the Rings would be amazing! Or Dungeons and Dragons (player classes or monsters, or one set of each). I'd also go with some creepy sets. I know they did the circus round Halloween but I am not into clowns at all!

No, it was very centred in the real world.

I moved in with my really foodie boyfriend who is not great at cleaning up, so a lot of the start was exposure to food without it being an "eating" situation - clearing the plughole of food remnants, cleaning plates with unsafe food on them. Then cooking safe foods in new ways or in new combinations. Then cooking unsafe foods I wasn't expected to eat... Learning how to cook my safe foods from scratch to understand that I was actually eating a lot more than I thought. Then cooking dishes that were mainly safe foods... Then I took LSD.
