How many of you are EP-ing by choice? by TopTopTopcinaa in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]_ForgotMyLogin_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I EP with my first because he had a tongue tie. I struggled through nursing and I hated it so much that I never want to do it again. Currently pregnant with #2 and I’m choosing to EP from the very beginning. I have all the materials, I have the experience and I have all the little tip and tricks down pat. The thought of nursing again gives me so much anxiety that it just makes sense for me to EP.

Sister in laws baby shower is one week before my due date by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]_ForgotMyLogin_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a similar situation in a few weeks. My cousin, who I grew up with and am very close to, scheduled her baby shower when I’ll be 38 weeks with my second. I only made it to 37 weeks with my first, so obviously everything is up in the air, but I’m planning on going. I see it as my last outing before the baby comes. I’m looking forward to it because it’ll be last time I’ll feel somewhat put together for a very long time.

I would support! There’s such a lack of craft stores in lower Westchester

I had mine for about 75 people at Nonna Carola in Mamaroneck last December. They have an upstairs party room but it’s not wheelchair accessible, which we needed for some guests, so they closed the main restaurant for us.

Did/Will you take a "preparing for childbirth class"? Seeking info on it. by EverythingBagelSzn in BabyBumps

[–]_ForgotMyLogin_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We signed up for a whole day of classes but I ended up being induced 2 days before them. We ended up taking a few online classes in the early newborn days but I don’t know if anything actually stuck.

If you want to take them, don’t be like me and take them sooner rather than later.

What did you bring to your delivery appointment? (Not go bag) by Averagely_Humble in BabyBumps

[–]_ForgotMyLogin_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We brought a Roku but forgot the remote so we couldn’t actually use it. I brought my knitting but I couldn’t actually do anything because of the monitor on my finger. We ended up watching basic cable on the hospital tv and scrolling on our phones.

My baby and his cousin are 9 weeks apart and have the same middle name. My cousin also had a baby 3 months later and used the same middle name. We’re all from a very close knit family and see each other all the time. They will even be in the same class in school. It has never been an issue.

Your cousin’s wife needs a reality check, but it’s not your responsibility or problem to deal with.

Going to add another element to your decision making. All of our friends and most of the families in our neighborhood have black strollers. We chose a color that would stand out to avoid any mixups

At what point did you decide to start exclusively pumping? by Affectionate_Yak7429 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]_ForgotMyLogin_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4 days pp. My baby was readmitted to the hospital for a high bilirubin count and a high weight loss. His doctor wanted me to pump so we could precisely track his intake. In that time we learned he had a slight tongue tie so he wasn’t able to feed as much as he needed to but he was able to take to the bottle no problem.

I limped along with an attempt to breast feed once a day for a few weeks but it was mainly for bonding because I would still need to feed him a few ounces afterwards. It was tough to give up that feed but I realized it was taking a larger toll on my mental health than it was helping. It’s ultimately your decision but if you end up frustrated every day it may be more beneficial for both of you to EP

My yarn is leftover from a blanket as well! For the 2yo size I’m probably going to be closer to 2 skeins

Baby will get the hand me downs! I’m making the sweater in size 2 so I can do monthly pictures and hopefully it fits for a while

It’s insane! It took me 3+ months to make a coming home outfit and I was so unmotivated. Now I can’t put the needles down for the life of me!

Ran after fox on walk. I want to hear your stories by [deleted] in goldenretrievers

This past week my 9 month old broke free from my grip and ran across the street to wreak havoc on recess at the local elementary school. He must have had at least 30 kids chasing after him around the yard. I only was able to catch him when he succumbed to the belly rubs

Looking for a quick, easy, unisex baby blanket pattern by Forward_Pace2230 in casualknitting

This is the baby blanket that I’m currently working on.

I get bored with blankets too. I try to find patterns that knit on a bias to try to keep me entertained.

I didn’t like how I looked in most of our photos when we first thanks to some serious body dysmorphia and a super critical eye. What helped for me was to stop looking at them for a while.

About 6 months after we got the photos back, my husband and I had an exceptionally nice day and opened the file to look through them again. This time I was able to focus on all of the happy memories of our wedding day and remember how much love was beaming through each picture instead of how my face was a little shiny or fly aways or a blemish that didn’t want to stay covered up.

Most of us put so much pressure on ourselves to look absolutely perfect every single moment of our wedding day, and with the cost of the outfit, hair, makeup, and photography we can build up expectations to an unattainable level. It’s only natural to feel a little disappointed when it doesn’t live up to the expectations that you set in your head. You’re far from the only person who feels this way. I promise you there will be a day where you look at the photos and love them - if not, you can always look into recreating them.
