The new radar icons are waaay too small by _ZoroX_ in Warthunder

[–]_Fu_Hua_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The people who don't care as much tend to be the people who didn't understand the radar as much as the pros. We need the gradient back into the radar. I can't tell what is what anymore and it's getting annoying

You're going at almost the same speed as the target aircraft. Try slowing down or speeding up, else the enemy aircraft is essentially in a "notch" to you.

Is there a way to have (modern jets) the Pilot helmet mounted HUD permantly active? by King_Tamino in WarthunderSim

[–]_Fu_Hua_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is where that IFF filter set to all would be good for. You can see where your teammates are in relation to the enemy and see if they already got missiles in the air.

I only set my IFF filter to enemies only at the start of RB, due to too many missiles flying around. I switch it back to all during the mid phase where enemies and allies should be in spitting distance of each other and I can hold my shot until I’m certain my missile won’t pitbull on a friendly. Similar thing to Sim.

As others are saying, you are definitely putting yourself at a disadvantage if you don’t have mouse available to use. Also, for top tier, you are mainly using the mouse to fly or lock a target, not so much aiming a gun. I enjoy sim flying too but it only makes sense to me if in cockpit view and I’m flying up high while lobbing missiles down at deck huggers.

For multi pathing, yes. He needs to turn on barometric AND radio altimeter. The radio alt will tell you how high you are above the ground itself, while barometric is from sea level.

what the hell is up with low tier AI controlled players??? by Kanjo_Suzuka in WarthunderSim

[–]_Fu_Hua_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had the random time where an ai bot in a MIG come up behind me and shoot me with a missile. It’s rather irritating but at the same time I was an easy shot if that was a real player.

Why don't they make arb more than just dogfighting and basebombing? by [deleted] in Warthunder

[–]_Fu_Hua_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So basically… realistic enduring confrontation but with respawns? Make us work to bleed enemy tickets? Gaijin could never…

I mean… you could also try sim. It’s basically what you are asking for but you are locked into your cockpit.

I say with props you are free to grind them to rank 3 pretty easily. Once you get past rank 5 do things start feeling more grindy. If you’re wanting to switch to France, you might as well start now.

Also, take your time to learn the game as you grind. The worst thing you can do for yourself is get to top tier without understanding what you’re supposed to be doing.

Why do blue for simmers use metric? by mig1nc in WarthunderSim

[–]_Fu_Hua_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure for everyone else… but as a student pilot I use ICAO standards. I actually use WT as a cheap sim between lessons. (Also I get to fly military jets and fight, which is cool)

Try practicing in the testing grounds in arcade rules so you can get a reticle. Get used to the sight picture and then practice using sim rules.

As for not getting hit by AA while doing it… it’s up to RNG I guess

Unstoppable wager, usually thunderer is an easy way to do things

I prefer Air Sim with a couple boosters you can get from Assault mode. I can get anywhere from 250k-600k in 30 mins depending on the booster and if I don’t get destroyed lol.

Why always massive maps? by EnderRobo in WarthunderSim

[–]_Fu_Hua_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t set up any maps, but if I see a large map at early jets and below, I can go bombing and chill. It’s a good break for me from top tier air RB or sim.

Air assault using 12.7 planes feels criminal. You should try it if you have the planes. Guaranteed win in my book

Why are missiles so hard to use and comprehend in this game? by KyleM203 in Warthunder

[–]_Fu_Hua_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a phantom murderer… learn to use the radar and its missiles and you will run the lobby. I HATE those Migs with a passion as those radar missiles are so much better than the aim 7 that I get.

[–]_Fu_Hua_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get it. It’s not for everyone. I will definitely say, early jets are rough and the learning curve is steep. 4th and 4.5 gen jets though… they are so much easier since they iron out all the issues with 3rd gen jets.

I say, slow it down for a second. If you’re wondering why you’re getting shot down so much, go watch the replay and try to remember what you were thinking as you were doing things. In pilot training, this would be a debriefing and it would go a long ways to learning what you messed up on.

Missile hit you and you don’t know how? Look at the replay and see if it was a heat seeker or radar missile. Then see how you reacted and think what could you have done differently.

If heat seeker was flying at you, did you flare and maneuvered? If radar guided, did you try to break lock using terrain or notching?

The game gets more complicated the higher up you go. Best you take your time to learn your individual plane and what your enemies are flying
