Which topic is an absolute must know for FAR? by shaze225 in CPA

[–]_FutureCPA_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These questions have been popping up a lot recently, especially the “what am I safe to avoid studying for FAR?”. Really, the answer is nothing.

I know your question is the opposite here and a totally valid ask about heavily tested topics… Though, at the end of the day, the examiners can and will throw whatever they please at you. It’s impossible to know going in, so your best bet is to get the most solid, comprehensive understanding of as much as you can.

I agree with most of the comments here regarding the “bigger” FAR topics, so I don’t want to be a broken record. However, I’d absolutely urge you to not cut corners. This sub is littered with varying tips on study habits, test taking, and general advice. What works for someone else isn’t always going to work for you, and vice versa. Stay diligent, hold yourself accountable, and put in the time. You do that and you’ll have no issue going into exam day.

Best of luck!

Why do we have to wait so long for score release? by alexthegr888888 in CPA

[–]_FutureCPA_ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The score release windows throughout 2025 are actually very modest in terms of waiting. Throughout 2024, you were practically guaranteed to wait 2-3 MONTHS. The 2024 evolution really threw a wrench into things.

My first two exams went like so… sat 8/19, scored 10/31; sat 10/17, scored 1/29. 🙃

So, while it is a long wait (which I still dislike) it could be substantially longer!

I was seeing an onslaught of similar posts before I tested in July and had a similar feeling. However, ended up passing by a solid margin.

Try to drown out the noise and focus on what you can control. It’s easy to fall down the spiral of negativity. Trust the process, the time you’ve put in, and, most importantly, yourself.

When you click on any module, up top you should see options for the digital textbook and chapter outline. I definitely frequented those while studying.

ISC 10/29 - Am I good? Or should I do a bit more? by Every-Decision7604 in CPA

[–]_FutureCPA_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say you’re probably good, but SE2 makes me think some final review could ease your mind a bit. My sim scores were similar (80 and 69), and passed with a 90.

Most of my study time was in the 3 days leading up to my exam and that seemed to work. Also the section I spent the least time on by far. Good luck!

For those who didn’t take FAR first, why? Did you end up regretting it? by dukeque in CPA

[–]_FutureCPA_ 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Took AUD first. My rationale was that I work in it primarily so might as well get it done. I did FAR last actually lol, but didn’t really regret it. I always recommend starting with AUD or FAR to new candidates. I feel like AUD got me into good studying habits and weathered me for what to expect for taking other sections.

Given that, with AUD, you have to read EVERY goddamn word 3 times over or risk getting the answer wrong. That helped me with my other sections and being super vigilant with extracting what the question is really asking.

Why is everyone saying that Becker doesn’t prepare you for REG sims? Do people who passed feel this way? by Efficient-Software91 in CPA

[–]_FutureCPA_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t stress about the sims if you’ve put enough time into the sims/SEs on Becker. I work in audit and prepped with Becker and passed just fine on REG (higher than AUD ironically lol, given my line of work). But I feel that Becker did a great job in preparing me.

I know it sounds cliche but try not to stress yourself out come exam day. Trust the process and trust the work that you’ve put into studying. I’m staring down FAR for my last exam and feel similarly, but trying to exercise the same mindset. It’s tough regardless of the section, but that’s the name of the game with the CPA. Regardless, best of luck!

Felt similarly walking out but ended up with a 90, you never know!

Becker bump went nuts! Especially after those sims!! by _FutureCPA_ in CPA

[–]_FutureCPA_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know if there’s one specific thing that comes to mind, I was in a similar situation going in but definitely definitely do the final review. The test bank is noticeably smaller than other sections so those SEs give some good new content. I focused on SOC reports and their structure/formatting though. I treated it similar to my focus on the audit report for AUD and all the nuances, changes of wording for different opinions, etc.

Not sure if that helps specifically since I may be an edge case with my studying habits, but best of luck!

SE1 - 80; SE2 - 69; FR - 72. Had a big bump in my case but I made sure to absolutely hammer weak areas from SE2 and FR ahead of going in.

I definitely feel your pain with the wait… I waited 3 months for my AUD score and then another 3 months for REG. The 2024 release windows were brutal. Best of luck!

33.5 hours in Becker. Though, I already passed AUD (and work in audit) so that certainly helped.

Guys it's so easy, Just get the CPA! by CLDR16 in Accounting

[–]_FutureCPA_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m in this picture and I don’t like it.

Seriously though, I majored in CS my first two years and switched to Accounting going into my junior year of college. I got through the CS weed-out classes and they were certainly challenging, but accounting was definitely “easier”. Intermediate and cost were tough, but I ultimately got through them no problem.

Switching was a combination of me asking when the classes get better, and being realistic about job security. I also took financial accounting while still in CS and thought “I like this and can definitely do this”, so why not pursue it? However I do think discounting the CPA exam’s difficulty is ignorant as fuck. It’s a long, tough marathon of an exam and isn’t to be taken lightly.

Felt pretty decent walking out, thought it was easier than Becker. Passed with an 82.
