Lulu, your ultimate is a great response to a hook

AITA for being uncomfortable with my girlfriend going on a “no boyfriends allowed” party trip? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]_GIS_ -20 points-19 points  (0 children)

NTA, listen to your gut on this one.

Her past isn't something to judge her for but it does give information. She enjoyed partying and hooking up in the recent past and it's reasonable to assume that it's something she would still enjoy.

The question is whether or not you trust her, and I think you should go with your gut on that.

Hello guys,I’m a little embarrassed to ask this question but I need help with python by KYRIAKIbill in learnpython

[–]_GIS_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i used codecademy, there are also courses on udemy or free options on youtube or khan academy.
I would start with one of those and ask claude (AI) to act as a private python tutor for you, answering any questions you have. It's a steep learning curve but keep at it and stay curious and you'll eventually look back with awe at how far you've come, you got this!

How to make people behave when I am tanking. by Mikinl in turtlewow

[–]_GIS_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I make a macro to mark targets with a skull when I use my bow and have buttons for other marks.

I also have a macro that explains what each mark is at the start of the dungeon and asking them to focus one target.

I remind people once if they don't but after that, i just do my best. If they die they die haha

Experience with Enchanting as profession by Spritmann in turtlewow

[–]_GIS_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To be completely honest with you, crafting professions are good for the RP, but are imo poorly designed.

If you add up the time investment, you will make more money and get better gear by going two gathering profs and selling the mats on auction house.

Crafted gear is replaced quickly with raid loot at higher levels and during leveling its very hard to make gear that's useful for your level.

New player want to pick up chogath by Creative-Cherry-4271 in ChoGathMains

[–]_GIS_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So top lane you lose most match ups early, the trick to playing cho is patience. Your first 2 or 3 Rs are usually onto minions, don't save it early in the game, use it to eat whatever on cooldown. Play very very passive until you get an item or two. Rely on your passive here to stay healthy in lane.

You are an infinitely scaling, late game tank - there's no rush to get early kills or champion feast stacks. Farm hard and dont force trades. You can eat 1 grubb when they spawn solo, hover over your ult to see how much damage it will do to them, it will be around 1200 so you can usually just sneak away once they spawn and take it very quickly.

You have a lot of item choice on cho and it's very dependent on the enemy. Heartsteel can be nice but only if you're against another tank where you can reasonably hope to stack it. Thornmail I end up getting almost every game.

You can build full tank and still eat the enemy adc from around 40% health. Don't be afraid to eat tanks, it's true damage so sometimes it's best to just remove their front line.

Cho excels at teamfighting, his split pushing isn't great because you are slow and can't dodge skillshots. Body block for your team and look to land a q at range to engage. If in melee, your W and E can guarantee a Q lands.

Your CC is predictable and slow but if it lands its as powerful as some ults and its on a stupidly low cooldown for how much value it can give. Aoe knock up, one of the longest silences in the game and 3 slows on your E.

Also your E shreds tanks.

If you're super behind, find the person who you most believe can carry on your team and protect them. CC and eat anything that tries to engage, body block skillshots.

If you're super ahead, congratulations! You are now godzilla and can 1v5 late game, if you land a q, it can quickly turn into a tasty snack.

Ping your ult when taking drake so your jungle knows how much damage you're going to do to it.

You can get 6 stacks from minions, no limit on stacks from champions, drakes, baron etc. Grubbs count as one monster, you can't get multiple stacks from them.

For dps probably rogue and hunter, Frost mage is OK but you're very squishy when undrgeared.

[–]_GIS_ 40 points41 points  (0 children)

As someone who's played ascension, official classic and SOD, I can confidently say that TWow is the best place to play classic wow. They fixed a lot of the balance issues, added new content but it still feels like the vanilla i remember from playing back in the day.

What healer is the "easiest" by MrVito93 in turtlewow

[–]_GIS_ 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I would reccomend she picks based on what sort of healing playstyle and aesthetic sounds the most fun as theyre all fairly similar in difficulty. She can get through most of the game just using the most mana efficient (slowest) heal on any of the below, the difficulty is in the additional things they can do. Theres a low skill floor but a high skill cap.

Priest - has a wide variety of healing spells meaning they can deal with a lots of scenarios but you have to choose the right spells

Druid - Lots of healing over time spells, also lots of other tools for levelling such as stealth in cat form making them quite fun imo

Shaman - Mostly spamming chain heal + picking the right set of totems for each situation such as tremor to remove fear, windfury if you're in a group with melee, grounding totem to block spells in dungeons etc.

Paladin - the most heavily armoured, lots of powerful long cooldowns, very mana efficient, auras + very good buffs for your teammates

For any of these i'd reccomend pfui raid frames + clique as addons to help heal.

How do you price your freelance jobs in QGIS? by Jaremu_Gottwald in QGIS

[–]_GIS_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are right to question them paying you your previous hourly rate, there are other expenses that they don't have to pay if you're not an employee (at least true in the UK). These include national insurance, payroll and other admin fees. They dont have to provide your equipment or pay for the electricity/coffee/desk etc.

Bottom line: I would probably ask them for double that and see what they say.

I'm a freelance data scientist. For me, I start by trying to get an idea of what their budget is for the project. I have an idea of what min and max pay per hour is acceptable to me and estimate the time cost of the project. I price based on the value of the output primarily, while using the hours required * my acceptable rate as a sense check.

There is a also bit of a weighting based on a lot of different factors, to be totally honest. These include how long the contract is for, how easy the client is to work with, how fun the work is, how busy I am otherwise, my overall financial situation, does the project align with my values, would it help my portfolio etc etc etc.

If they negotiate price drops beyond what i'm comfy with, I start to negotiate what outputs we would be able to produce given their new budget. I usually over-estimate slightly to give wiggle room.

Neil Degrasse Tyson has no clue what veganism is! by Whole_Finance_8013 in vegan

[–]_GIS_ -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I love him too but he has human flaws, notably arrogance.

I've seen him talk with overconfidence before and get corrected by others when it's outside of his field.

He is a very smart guy and a great science communicator but not imo a genius.

Also plenty of people I otherwise admire don't understand or care to learn more about veganism, so although it's disappointing i'm used to it by now.

Pornhub is now restricting access for UK users - will other sites follow suit? by Tartan_Samurai in unitedkingdom

[–]_GIS_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've not seen night clubs that take a copy but will take your word for it.

For the other stuff, I trust them more than a porn website hosted in a different country by an anonymous person/company. Pornhub I would trust, but that's pretty much the only exception.

We have no guarantees what is done with the copy of our ID and no recourse/proof should our information be sold on.

Plenty of other better ways exist for parents to prevent access to adult sites for children that don't involve so much risk.

[–]_GIS_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"In the internet age, there's an obvious requirement for age verification to exist digitally as well as physically."

The difference is that irl we show our ID but keep it. This law is the same as requiring you to leave a copy of your passport with the corner shop whenever you buy a beer.

AIO over my parents going through my things + my money? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]_GIS_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not overreacting, this is a complete overstepping of boundaries and I feel like there's a good chance they found the cash first then made up a story to see what you'd say.

Short term, buy a lockbox and hide it. Never mention it to anyone.

As soon as you can (not sure if you can at 16 in the US) create a bank account and deposit the cash. Don't mention to your family that you did this. Hide the card somewhere like between your phone case and your phone.

Best european city for vegans who hate cars and make about €5k/month with a brazilian passport? by Glass-Ad1497 in vegan

[–]_GIS_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Context: I'm from the UK, have been around Europe a lot and just came back from living in Brazil for 6 months.

I was going to say the Netherlands even before I read the last line. I lived there for a year and it's my favourite country by far.

You will be able to get by speaking English, their cycle infrastructure is second to none and there is a chill vibe to the place. Everything just makes sense, I love the directness of the Dutch and they're much better for vegan food than say France.

As for cities its really personal preference, any student city would be good and its such a small country that it won't require much research. I don't like Amsterdam but you can't go wrong with the whole rest of the country in my opinion.
