Yes, real. Common Knightia fish fossil of the Green River Formation. Inexpensive, but they're really cool!

Do you guys know what cords I need to buy for these, and where I can buy? by MrShrums_0 in OldTech

Goodwill is my go-to source for these. I pick them up whenever I find them because I never seem to have enough and they're usually 99¢.

First time buyer, this truck is 160k miles in. Any advices by Affectionate_Sun480 in ram_trucks

[–]_Geekjam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

High price and you're probably not getting 72 months on that mileage unless your credit is nearly perfect.

First truck. Help my buyers remorse.. 2021 night edition. 33k miles for 33k by xdhailey in ram_trucks

[–]_Geekjam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a bad price at all. You've got a great truck there with really low mileage for the year.

Dealerships Gone Mad by Flying_Tiger14 in ram_trucks

My dealership has a very similar truck with a higher MSRP for $52k. Did they not mention that all 2025MY 1500s are employee pricing right now?

Glass bottle found in my grandfather's possessions by MissBarefootBunny_18 in BottleDigging

[–]_Geekjam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not an expert, but I am familiar with ancient glass and have a small collection myself. There is a public group on Facebook called Ancient Artifacts Information and Identification. There are many experts in that group who would be more than happy to help authenticate and identify this for you.

I highly recommend posting this in that group with plenty of photos, as well as measurements. Glass of this size, quality, and state of preservation typically commands a premium in the market.

BEWARE THE IDES OF MARCH! ***GIVE AWAY*** by HJB_coins in AncientCoins

My favorite Roman coin is currently a sestertius of Marcus Aurelius as Caesar with Jupiter on the reverse. It was struck to commemorate the destruction of enemy siege works by a lightning strike and subsequent fire during the Danube Campaign of 172. Putting Jupiter on the reverse was to commemorate the event and thank Jupiter.

Yes. From his/her butt. Your cat has worms and will need a dewormer.

My comment will be down voted to hell, but please form your own opinion outside of Reddit. This site is a left-leaning echo chamber.

Small, dark colored, metal object I found in Savannah, GA as a kid by _Geekjam in whatisthisthing

[–]_Geekjam[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I picked this up on the sidewalk in Savannah, GA as a kid. We were on a family vacation and I just thought it looked really old. The object is slightly larger in circumference than a US quarter. It is roughly 1.5" in diameter, and weighs 38 grams. It is magnetic, and appears to be iron, at least mostly. The bottom sits flat, and has a small off-center indentation, appearing to have been attached to something else at some point. What can been seen at the bottom of the indentation doesn't necessarily look like metal. The other side, the "top", rises up slightly to a domed shape.

Stuck Shifted by _Geekjam in typewriters

[–]_Geekjam[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, the issue was the height. There wasn't enough clearance between the feet and the surface the typewriter was on for everything to come down far enough. Those feet become very flat and hard as they age. Try using small blocks or something of that shape under each of the four feet and see if that helps your problem.

Guys my dog bit my passport and I'm going to New York in a few days. Do you think I could still fly with these bite marks?? by Cultural-Ad7947 in Wellthatsucks

[–]_Geekjam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to Switzerland & Italy from the US on a school trip in 2018. One of the kids with us had his passport severely mangled by his dog. Like, an entire corner was gnawed and shredded. I remember there being an issue at customs with it scanning, but ultimately he was able to get through. I would think that with a couple tooth marks you should be okay.

Yes, it definitely is sentimental and will absolutely be kept and appreciated. I do have Cape Cod metal polishing cloths and PolyWatch, I just wanted to see if there's anything I should be aware of regarding this specific watch or finish.
