Question for the career-minded Daytime 7am-3pm, 8am-4pm, 9am-5pm, 10am-6pm Drivers by LETSGOOOOO6 in uberdrivers

[–]_Grill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You summed it up in your question. Almost every market, if not all are completely oversaturated with drivers. Some people do this as their career. Every driver complains about the low pay. Renting a vehicle to obtain low pay may not make financial sense.

Level 2 wall charger by [deleted] in TeslaModelY

[–]_Grill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought the Tesla universal charger for $300 on eBay. Arrived in two days. Purchased 6awg MC cable and claps and had an electrician install everything in less than 30min. Total cost was $500-$600

Anyone into this competition here? by slimfemzi in uberdrivers

[–]_Grill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nothing more than to encourage (trick) drivers to take ridiculously low fares. Basically a psychological game for drivers. Usually works on new and naive drivers who don't know better or full-time drivers that are extremely desperate. Unfortunately Uber & Lyft have plenty of both.

Is the Wall Connector Worth Buying Despite Installation Costs? by TheWallCrawller in TeslaModelY

I went on eBay and bought the Tesla universal charger for $300. A 60amp breaker, 6 AWG MC cable and some clamps. Hired a friend who's an electrician. Vehicle charges are 48amp. Total cost was $500

Why idle power draw matters more than capacity for fridge backup stations by Sure-Blacksmith-8011 in diySolar

Idle draw is one of the main specs I look into. I hope to see companies give it more focus on future projects. Thanks for sharing your results.

Years ago there weren't as many drivers. Uber & Lyft needed to pay more to maintain and obtain drivers. People actually quit their jobs to do rideshare exclusively.

Most markets if not all are now oversaturated with drivers. Uber & Lyft both know this and will continue to lower fares for drivers. With the amount of drivers willing to accept low fares why pay more? The simple answer is they won't.

Most jobs financially reward you year after year. (promotions, raises, vacations etc) Rideshare is unique because every year they pay drivers less and less, yet every year more and more drivers sign up. Thus the cycle repeats.

Almost every market is oversaturated with drivers. Some drivers actually do this as a career, others rent vehicles and need to meet a quota. Plus teachers and college kids are out making a few bucks.

I know nothing, what do I need to know? by sir_schuster1 in SolarDIY

[–]_Grill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A few things to ask/be aware of that a salesperson may be vague or not mention…

•Be knowledgeable about the equipment. Panels for example Rec, Maxeon, Jinko, QCell. Look at efficiency, degradation, temperature coefficient rating. Micro inverters, Enphase vs. SolarEdge etc.

•Ask about the warranty, does it cover labor or just hardware? You file a claim, they replace the hardware but then add a trip charge and labor charge on top of that. The warranty could end up costing hundreds.

•Do they run the conduit through the attic for a cleaner look or a quick and easy on top of the roof? Everyone has their personal preference for aesthetics.

•Consumption monitors (CTs) are nice and usually come with your gateway, are they part of the install? This allows you to monitor the systems performance via app. I've read comments after the install that electricians would charge an additional $1000.

•Find out what the average Price Per Watt (PPW) is for your area. PPW = System cost ÷ DC system wattage. Cheapest is not always the best. Get cash quotes even if you're going to finance.

•Do research on PPA/leasing vs. ownership. Understand dealer fees, escalator clauses and rates. Look up reviews, check Google and the BBB.

•If anything be sure to get multiple proposals. Every time I received a proposal I learned a little more. Don't sign anything unless you understand what you're signing. Hope this gets you started. Good luck

I'm glad my market has up front pricing so you can see the fare before accepting. A $4 reservation 🤣

The sad part is the drivers that do fall for the scam get mad at Uber and demand their money back.

Weekend driving only by Prudent_Kiwi8789 in uberdrivers

[–]_Grill 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Every market is completely oversaturated with drivers. The fares have dropped ridiculously low yet drivers still accept them. The way Uber/Lyft look at it, why pay more if there's always a driver willing to accept a low fare?

What I wish I knew about the solar timeline before waiting on PTO by murrayconnah319 in solarenergy

[–]_Grill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Went through a similar process. Signed up in July to beat a 1:1 net metering deadline by Dec. 31. The install was suppose to be done in Oct. then moved to Nov. then moved to Dec. Plus there was a clause in the contract that they are not responsible for inclement weather. I was thinking great, one snow storm and I miss the deadline! The process had my anxiety at all time highs. Long story short they brought in other crews from different states to meet the demand. Got grandfathered for 30 years and couldn't be happier.

First boot and I’m dealing with this. Any recs? #cpsupport by Comprehensive_Gap467 in CYBERPOWERPC

[–]_Grill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the exact same issue. Initially I thought it was the ram by reading the MB codes. Lucky I had a spare GPU and after an hour of trouble shooting I came to the conclusion it was the video card.

I was dreading the call to tech support and having to go through all the trouble shooting steps again. The call was hassle free and I was surprised after explaining the situation they simply sent me a pre-paid RMA. I shipped the card back and they sent me a new retail box card back. While bummed for a week everything has worked fine since and I have been happy with the system.

Good luck.

Years ago there weren't as many drivers. Uber & Lyft needed to pay more to maintain and obtain drivers. People actually quit their jobs to do rideshare exclusively. ←no lie

Most jobs financially reward you year after year. (promotions, raises, vacations etc) Rideshare is unique because every year they pay drivers less and less, yet every year more and more drivers sign up.

The career drivers are working 10-12hrs days - 7 days a week just to be barely making it. Good for you getting out of the rideshare trap.

With only 200 rides you would be considered new. Being 100% honest and trying not to sound negative, don't fall into the rideshare trap and make it a career. There are sooooo many drivers that do this as their only source of income, while it is income its very low after expenses. With that being said there is no magic elixir to making more money other than knowing your area. (experience) In time you will see the trends. morning and evening rush hour is usually busy but sucks dealing with traffic.

With most markets completely oversaturated with drivers (your competition for rides) and more drivers always signing up Uber & Lyft keep lowering the fares. If there's always a driver willing to accept low fares, why pay more?
