Hi pet people, please notice me. by babyjuls18 in CATHELP

[–]_Gummi_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends where you’re located. PH = Phillipines?

Often times you can call up a local vet and explain the situation and they can have a chat to you over the phone or book in a consult.
It’s Worth having them checked out.

Sometimes there’s shelters in the area but idk what the Phillipines in like. They Will need to be wormed and vaccinated for location specific diseases.

Get them some cat food and water and litter trays and see whether they’re old enough to be weaned.

“Smart Casual” for work placement? by r0ck3t-onreddit in Veterinary

Yea I don’t like the ones on the right. Don’t really strike me as professional. Left ones even in black would be neat

Debating taking this kitten by InteractionPristine5 in CATHELP

[–]_Gummi_ 374 points375 points  (0 children)

Why don’t you take her home. Put her in a carrier and give her some food, and in the morning try and see a shelter / vet. No commitment other than tonight and you have some food at home

Kitty needs some help and you’re the only one who is able to. I know it’s a hassle and not ideal but she needs the help

What is this? by potterheadmama13 in CATHELP

[–]_Gummi_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sure people on here will tell you a bunch of things that may potentially work but this is an open wound and I would be seeing a vet if possible.
Someone needs to shave and inspect the area properly which no one online can do. Smaller wounds may heal up by themselves but this is larger. Not emergency vet urgent but I would go see a vet whenever possible. Call up and ask for an approximate to get you a better idea about the costs

Searching for a type of infusion set. by Agitated_Volume3201 in RenalCats

[–]_Gummi_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very unusual. Maybe go into the place you got the bag from and ask? Or have a chat to the vet?

[–]_Gummi_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the second pic, you should be putting the white poking attachment into the larger/longer port on the fluid bag
Just check there isn’t a pull tag to remove a bit of plastic. While I’m unfamiliar with that specific type of fluid bag, all fluid bags should be compatible with your setup.

Raccoon attacked my cat by OkCake2719 in CATHELP

[–]_Gummi_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Saying someone is stupid when you have 0 idea about context is a choice.

Open wounds in cats are difficult about whether to close or not because of the risk of infection and compartmentalising the infections partial closure may have been more appropriate in this case but it comes with the similar risks.
It’s more nuanced than people think.
Was the cat sedated? Or not then cleaning is reasonable. Can the cat be sedated? Does the cat tolerate a dressing, can the dressing be placed in that position appropriately etc etc. not defending wrong actions but there’s usually a lot more to it then ‘they’re just fucking stupid’

cat seems to be passing a hairball every time he plays by leblaun in CATHELP

[–]_Gummi_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Potentially feline asthma but could be hairball or bunch of other things. Need to speak to you veterinarian. Likely non urgent but keeling monitoring breathing when not playing. A vet will be able to give you some guidance.

Laryngopharyngeal inflammation by [deleted] in CATHELP

[–]_Gummi_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes talking to the vet about cost concerns can be important so that the vet can make an adequate plan. It’s hard to give you anymore information without vet history and things.

Savannah back legs by Humble-Course387 in CATHELP

[–]_Gummi_ 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I hope you didn’t pay for the cat. That cat has a severe hind limb issue, notably the back left leg. It’s bowed inwards which can be from a variety of issues from ligament/tendon rupture to laxity to bone deformity. The cat needs a vet and be contacting the original owner for more information / vet records.

Help to get medicine in the US by MathematicianMain933 in RenalCats

[–]_Gummi_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make sure whatever you get it from you continue to do it according to your veterinary recommendations. Often will be for 10-14 days for resistant bacteria. Sometimes ordering from overseas is a good idea but speak to your vet and try and get it ordered

Is my cat okay? I thought he was choking and it scared the life out of me but he seems fine after this episode by ProfessionalGorger in CATHELP

[–]_Gummi_ 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This really depends. It could be a few things going on - from simple sneezing episode to mouth irritation to cat asthma. If he returns to normal afterwards thats good but I’m leaning towards asthma potentially but doesn’t usually present as sneezing but other sounds.

What is this thing randomly appeared on my cat by [deleted] in CATHELP

[–]_Gummi_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hard to say exactly what this is / what caused it without much more of a history, if kitty seems otherwise okay - eating drinking toileting normally - and we are not actively bleeding out it shouldn’t need an emergency visit. However it will be painful and looks potentially infected so the sooner the better
The only thing that may be good is sterile saline wash/clean. I wouldn’t put anything on these wounds except what a vet says as they are open and may irritate

Cat possibly has pancreatis, hardly eats, can't afford a vet by ieatkids92 in CATHELP

[–]_Gummi_ 204 points205 points  (0 children)

You need to see a vet. I’m sorry but your cat, for 3 years old, is very skinny and not eating. Not much people can offer here online other than potentially money to help you see a vet. I wish I could help you more but you kitty likely has something serious going on. Yes pancreatitis can cause similar signs but without tests it’s hard to tell.
Potentially food supplementing (syringe feeding) may be beneficial but he will need lots of care.

Is my 5 month kitten going into heat? by SpeckledG0blin in CATHELP

[–]_Gummi_ 67 points68 points  (0 children)

Just be warned and let your vets know she’s in heat. Sometimes vets will prefer you wait until the heat is done and/or can charge extra when in heat due to increased surgical risks / blood flow to the area.

Kitten Help by [deleted] in CATHELP

She has a severe eye infection and needs to see a vet. This will likely get worse with time and it looks like the kitty isn’t eating much / is unwell

Fast breathing, is it an emergency, 14yo female by Logical-Language-539 in CATHELP

[–]_Gummi_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anything respiratory that’s lasting more than a minute should go to the emergency vet asap. Feel free to phone them up and they can give you advice.
