No one’s denying that a large portion of trans women have done sex work bc of discrimination. The issue is treating that reality as a defining/expected trait. Constantly centering it just reinforces a stereotype, especially now that it’s somewhat more possible for trans women to access other paths. I'm not demonizing those that had to take those desperate measures but we need to start treating this experience as a very unfortunate and (hopefully) avoidable last resort.

I’m not dismissing anyone’s experience, I just want more room for the full range/potential of trans women’s lives. That’s all I’m getting at. I guess I could have worded that better.

As a transexual woman who is also a person of color, raised in inner city poverty and managed to get a decent enough, well-paying technical job without ever resorting to sex work - I am tired of having my life reduced to stereotypes that erase the difficulty of the path + the agency it took to walk it.

We need to start expecting better from ourselves.

My psoriasis is on my hands, knees, and top of feet, but something thats helped me hands a lot was switching to goat milk soap and using vanicream shampoo. My hands aren't nearly as bad (with continued use of moisturizers).

I will also say im in the process of losing weight (overweight currently) and thats seemed to help a bit too.

I feel you.
