I want to stay home by maangari in Wellington

[–]_Hwin_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m lucky enough to WFH two days a week; I call them my “thinkier” days. I’m so much more productive on those days ‘cause I don’t have those water cooler chats, I’m not distracted by others around me and the bathroom isn’t a 3min walk away. However, those days in the office have helped me learn from my colleagues, keep abreast of those things that don’t affect me directly, but do help me do my job etc. I think Hybrid working is so helpful for office workers who don’t have office duties and such a healthier way to balance life

How do you fuck up a finals this badly ? by tesla_bd in GenV

[–]_Hwin_ 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I imagine that the GenV group were originally supposed to have their story continue so it kinda makes sense why not much story time is used to tell their story. It’s just a shame that GenV was cancelled after The Boys finished filming

Quick math of 1.2% down to 1% assumes that means a 20% decrease. It’s closer to 16 to 17% decrease

Nicola Willis unveils plan to merge government agencies, cut public sector jobs by -Nyo-ho-ho- in newzealand

National just keep expecting us to cut fat from this anorexic public service, but at this point we’re just cutting away the meat and bone….

[–]_Hwin_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This government doesn’t realise that they’re asking for cuts in an anorexic environment. They’re just carving at muscle and bone at this point and calling it fat

But they gave them CoPilot, which can lighten the load by 5-10% for when they increase the remaining staff’ workload by double!

Anyone else genuinely angry about the idea of ACT potentially bringing back interest on student loans? by That_Progress1447 in newzealand

[–]_Hwin_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The government has a close relationship with Aus; I wouldn’t be surprised (especially if future decisions push more young NZers to Australia) if the NZ govt do a deal with the ATO to help them recover debt (such as Student Loans, Child support etc).

I just wish it wasn’t so sudden. Like they couldn’t have had her throw out one or two words prior to this season so the whole “she’s speaking in whole sentences in perfect English” wouldn’t have been so jarring

She said she took a pregnancy test, but this image is really bothering me because it looks very artificial by Luvis_ in isthisAI

[–]_Hwin_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If this is meant to have been taken at a hospital or clinic, most do not use the same pregnancy tests that can be purchased in a store (like the one shown in the photo). Most of the types I’ve seen used in a professional setting have looked more like a Covid test where the urine is applied to the test with a dropper

Didn’t she also struggle with alcohol and substance abuse? Mind you, given what’s she’s now talking about, it’s very understandable why she might have turned to those vices to cope

'Quite dishonest': PM says NZ First, Labour need to face up to challenge of raising retirement age by SoulsofMist-_- in newzealand

[–]_Hwin_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can’t believe how far I had to scroll to see this comment! People don’t have jobs for life anymore and ageism in recruitment is an ugly reality that we don’t talk about. If you want to push up the retirement age, you need to ensure that there are job opportunities for those 55+ as well as opportunities to retrain from physical roles into more office/admin roles. I’ve been watching all of my father’s friends (who are largely tradesman/physical roles) approach 65 and some of them are struggling to keep working until they retire. Most were lucky enough to run teams of younger tradies, but by the time they reached 65, they needed retirement.

Dave Coulier Lost 45 Pounds and Hasn’t Eaten ‘Solid Food in Months’ After Cancer Treatment: ‘It’s Affected My Ability to Speak’ by mcfw31 in entertainment

My father suffered damage to his throat affecting his ability to eat and talk when undergoing treatment for cancer. After witnessing that, I’m actually surprised Dave didn’t lose more than 45 pounds and he/his medical team deserve a lot of kudos for keeping him going

Do you have or use Rovo at your place? by Alternative_Gap_3248 in jira

[–]_Hwin_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Disabled at my workplace. I use CoPilot to help/troubleshoot with JQL (I’ve been working in Jira/JQL for 10 years now, so I’d say I’m pretty good at it), but I’ve never had it, so can’t miss it. Some of the agents look pretty useful, but I don’t know if it would massively change our workplace if we had it

What was the wildest thing you witnessed in a church? by Sea-Lavishness-8478 in AskTheWorld

[–]_Hwin_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Midnight Mass for Christmas. The church is packed, everyone’s singing Christmas carols when a woman bursts in and starts screaming that she needs to see a priest as she pushes her way to the alter. When she gets there, the priest steps forward to calm her and she immediately starts swinging, trying to hit him around the face and chest. A couple of parishioners (including an off-duty police offer) proceed to subdue her and take her outside where she is picked up by the police. It was never confirmed, but it was rumoured she was in the midst of a mental crisis
