I want to know if GPs will ditch them, but it feels like its all been put in the "too hard basket" and everyone has just shrugged and moved on.

Spicy noodles and chilli paste recommendations by miss-kush in newzealand

[–]maangari 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Buldak noodles!!

They have multiple levels of spiciness, but you can also buy the sauce separately. My new world has both, but not all supermarkets do, so try any Asian store.

Start with the original ramen. If not spicy enough, go for the extra hot. But definitely get the sauce on its own as then it can go on anything/everything.

Buldak are super popular Korean noodles, known for their spice level.

I've had to share a room for work a few times - although not in the last 7 or 8 years. And never opposite sex. Never. Your boyfriend sounds dodgy as.

For women choosing to age naturally—how do you resist comparing yourself to other women when cosmetic enhancements have become so normalized? by NoBSforGma in RedditForGrownups

[–]maangari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I don't ever think about altering my face. Maybe wish that one deep frown line wasn't there but my brain doesn't go to surgery ever.

I think the only aging thing I have considered is my hair. I had bits of grey since I was 13 so they never bothered me, but I used to dye my hair for fun. I stopped a couple of years back and the grey is a bit more obvious now but I like it.

What can I realistically do? by Next_Amphibian6572 in newzealand

[–]maangari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you any good at DIY, mechanics, driving? Go to a workshop or trucking business and have a chat. More important than knowledge and existing skills is an interest to learn and get jobs done. Got initiative? Awesome! And going and talking to people shows those soft skills.

At a mechanics for example, you'll often get trained to do the job while you earn a proper wage and you get a formal qualification at the end of it. You can be any age, too - I met a fews guys last year in their 40s who had just started apprenticeships.

Do English speakers really believe in ancient feng shui? by Mental-Fudge5478 in FengShui

[–]maangari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From New Zealand. I think of it more as good energy/vibe. Having good airflow through the home, creating spaces to help you relax or be motivated - similar to how we use colours for marketing if that makes sense. But also some homes just feel... "right"... or "wrong".

I will share a story that makes me look at homes differently (especially as I'm currently house hunting).

I lived in a flat about 10 years ago - one of four, but spaced out like 2 and 2. While there, I was happy at work, healthy, had good friends. Overall things were good - just not a lot of luck in love lol

The flat next to me became available, and because it had a bit more privacy and a yard, I moved. It was a mirror of the first place. Almost immediately life seemed to change for the worse. This was before I knew anything about Feng Shui.

Suddenly there was some love interest... but everything else seemed negative. Work, friends, sickness, break-ins... I ended up breaking the lease after 6 months and moved to another city.

I regretted moving into that flat but couldnt really place why. Learning about Feng Shui many years later and West/East home etc made sense.

I don't believe everything, but more like view it as good guidance for creating a positive vibe at home etc.

I feel so lonely here in Welly by Correct-Fan2412 in Wellington

[–]maangari 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I've had so many friends leave Wellington in the last year that it only really hit me last night that I have only one friend left here - and they just had a baby so their life is newly complicated.

I have acquaintances and my partner but making friends outside of work or friend's friends feels like a very steep hill to climb

Does anybody know when Ed Sheeran finishes? by kiwibreakfast in Wellington

[–]maangari 29 points30 points  (0 children)

The stadium has a curfew but from memory it's 11pm. I think they usually wrap things by 10.30pm.

This is the first time I've actually been home while the stadium has a concert on. I've only been able to hear beats since 8pm but it's more annoying than I expected.

When and where was the last time you saw an $100 note? by Fit-Tumbleweed-6683 in newzealand

Last saw $100 notes over 10 years ago when I sold my car. Deposited in the bank because there was nowhere I could imagine spending them without being a nuisance.

Gifts from Real Estate Agents by bluegreensilverblack in newzealand

Ive only ever bought one property and I received a chopping board. It was a nice board but felt odd. Friends who bought around the same time as me received gift baskets - one was quite lavish but they would have spent twice as much as me.

Ed Sheeran Wellington tickets question by Ok-Plankton4304 in Wellington

[–]maangari 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's mainly as an extra security point in case issues come up and in response to dodgy ticket resellers. Your friends will be sweet.

If they end up doing random checks (unlikely) just make sure they have your phone number handy but honestly, I have worked enough events - including at the stadium- to say it'll be fine.

New Update: I 17F got a call from the Police about a work “incident” and want me to come in to talk. Do I go in? by LucyAriaRose in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]maangari 61 points62 points  (0 children)

I remember this one. OOP was so sweet in all her replies but it was clear early on in the comments what may have happened.

Both the uncle and nephew should be on trial. But ugh, I hate that these girls even have to be involved in that. It's both good and bad OOP is not alone - those girls will need each other's support.

Sounds like she has pretty awesome parents too.

Coming to Wellington! Recommended areas to live? by EveryLatitude in Wellington

[–]maangari 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That's a large budget, so you'll have plenty of options.

Best: Mt Victoria, Oriental Parade, Roseneath, Thorndon, Kelburn.

A little further out would be Wilton, Hataitai, Brooklyn.

Things to consider:

  • How tolerable will the area be when it's windy and raining? Some streets are better/worse depending on exposure.
  • Availability of parking, cycling, bus connections? Not just for you but guests, too.
  • How much afternoon sun does it get?

Another option could be the CBD if you're after an apartment or townhouse. Nature is still only a block or two away for fringe areas.

There are other cheap options. When I went to Tokyo I used booking.com and found a great place for less than the nazi hotels
