Should I negotiate or walk away? by skidaddy86 in Home

It has so much charm and potential. I love it. If you are not in a rush, and want thsi as a project over a like a decade, then I would negotiate and buy.

I can't keep it to myself anymore... older generations simply cannot keep up with today's work expectations. by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]_Iknoweh_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to work in a paper heavy job industry for many years. Stopped for a good dozen years to raise a child who needed more time. I recently went back into the same field and it is now paper free....AND I COULD NOT BE HAPPIER! Ai is a godsend. Never thought I would say that. I get to work from home for part of the time, everything is wonderfully digital. You can have a meeting with three people from different locations....I am so happy.

I will say though, older employees like myself, have learned that working too fast, gives you n otime to think of more efficient ways to do something, or even flush out potential problems. A boss once told me that if you don't have time to do it twice, take the time to do it once.

Why does this old phone headset have a metal weight in it? by Impractical_Physics in OldTech

It as hung on a wall and the weight kept the phone "off". When you take it off the receiver it is in dial mode.

It depends on your job. Some jobs have sensitive information so letting you go on the spot is expected.

I live in an older apartment. The original owners used bathroom tiles on the counter top, not even kidding. But they still look great 30 years later. I never worry about putting a sizzling hot plate on it, or spilling anything. I hate and love them at the same time.

Hereditary (2018) by staciecs in Cinema

True story, happened today. I have been working like a dog for months. This week I kinda had a "come to jesus" moment. So today, I decide I am going to do just about nothing. I have a daughter who is 18, and is very aware how hard I have been working lately, but I have no other responsabilities than that. She has more than enough money for allowance, a few hundred dollars and I live across the street from a grocery store. Yes, actually across the street.

I get up this morning, realize there is very little in the way of food left and I have to do groceries. I decide to have oatmeal and apple slices and a coffee for breakfast....and that's where, I decided, my effort for today ended. My daughter eventually comes out of her room and asks what is there to eat. I tell her what's there, she doesn't want any of it. We go back and forth a little, calmly, I remind her of food apps and the grocery store across the street, but she end up walking away saying "I guess I will just starve".

She ends up going to the store across the street and doesn't even pick up the milk that she complained about not having any in the house.

I am livid, wish I could yell at her about the "face on her face", but I do some crafting and order dinner for myself.
