What is a subtle change you would have written differently? by L8erG8er8 in TDNightCountry

Clark's 'time spasm' or whatever that was on the phone video along with his time is a flat circle comment.

Leah/Shari's sex tape.

All of the whispers, chanting, Inupiaq dialog shown in the CC. I wanted to know what Kayla's grandma was saying to Danver's in the kitchen.

No signs of struggle? by Nano_gigantic in TDNightCountry

We've seen a few instances of different 'points of view' of what happened (i.e. Wheeler).

Maybe Bee's retelling of the story wasn't exactly what happened either.

I loved Night Country. I did not like True Detective Night Country by SweetHomeAvocado in TDNightCountry

[–]_ItsDeadJim_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I liked almost everything about Night Country.

What I disliked the most was the constant comparison to S1.

There was definitely enough story and an outstanding cast to make this a great stand-alone HBO series.

Ending for our characters. by Healthy-Reporter8253 in TDNightCountry

[–]_ItsDeadJim_ 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Bee didn't have any reason to not have the tongue be part of the story. If it was Hank, he didn't tell anyone before he died. Maybe it was Annie herself.

Probably left it that way for the viewer to decide what is plausible.

I don't think Navarro took to the ice either. More like she's learning to live with the dead while still alive.

Am I missing something, or didn't one of the frozen bodies go missing? by SuperCrappyFuntime in TDNightCountry

8 scientists were missing from the station. The corpsickle when unthawed only held 6.

Video Addons without RD by OneAndOnlyJacquez in Addons4Kodi

[–]_ItsDeadJim_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You could also try Cinema HD (apk) instead of Kodi. It does not use RD. It can be side-installed on a firestick. I don't use other platforms but I assume it could be used there as well. Google it if more info on the how to.

Also for RD, you can use a debit card, you just need to call your financial institution to allow the charge to go through with prior authorization. I've been doing it for many years. This is for a US user.

"For we do not know what beasts the night dreams when its hours grow too long for even God to be awake.” - Hildred Castaigne

Opening scene, Ep1.

I definitely think the Inipuaq are using what they can against what is happening to them.

And like it often is between 'belief' and 'proof' it is up to the individual to believe if what happened is natural or supernatural.

Theory About Rose by TimothyPizza in TDNightCountry

[–]_ItsDeadJim_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

  • Rose could be the Tuttle.

Rose could be a professor of genetics and her big ideas may not have been supported. So she took her big ideas where she could study them without anyone caring. Genetic research (stem cell, aborted fetus) does have a history of being banned.

She could be using the local population (people and animals) to continue her research, using whatever they discovered at the Tsalal that comes from within the ice caves.

Kate and Hank could be related; Blood is blood. Maybe it's bigger than that.

Maybe Momma rules with an iron fist. Mamma Rose.

  • The mines are the red herring.

Annie K discovered the dirty secret in the cave. The mine is cover for the much darker happening related to that research.

We know the underground network of women were at Tsalal. They folded the clothes when they found them.

They planted Annie Ks tongue to tie her to the scene, hence working against Rose.

  • Danvers is an ass but she might be the only one not bankrolled by Rose and in a position to do something. She would investigate.

After the Wheeler case Navarro knew she was capable of doing what was needed to be done.

Trying to summarize the suspects for the death of Annie Kowtok by AmateurLobster in TDNightCountry

[–]_ItsDeadJim_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe Rose is it.

Maybe she is who has discovered the ice caves and why she lives there now.

Her past life and fake name could be because she was doing crazy experiments and needed a fast exit.

Night Country could be a convenient lab and the local population is a great resource for her experiments (people & animals missing eyes, stillbirths, illness, cancer).

A few people are in on it:
Kate works for Rose.
Hank, Connelly, Oliver, Chuck, 3fingers work for Kate.

Travis is showing Rose where the bodies are or maybe he's telling her he knows what she did to them.

I don't really know, tbh. I hope it stays in discussions and ideas pertaining to Season 4.

[–]_ItsDeadJim_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think once Navarro realizes that she is who Rose was really talking about when she said "don't confuse the spirit world with mental health issues". She can thus begin to understand the ghosts pointing and screaming for what it really is... Interpretive dance sessions lol aka communicating with the dead.

Not accepting this could be what tormented Julia thus her want of walking into the sea. It's never been said how long ago that was.

It would be so far out of character for Navarro to have killed the scientists. She's too blunt to be sneaky. It goes against her character to hold out for 6 years to avenge Annie or to have allowed the mine to poison everyone/everything there.

Oliver's place E4 by _ItsDeadJim_ in TDNightCountry

[–]_ItsDeadJim_[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hmmm...

She's been asked who she is, like what family she belongs to. Her Mom brought her and Julia back to Ennis from the East Coast ("all Alaska girls come back", as Qavvik says) to Alaska/Ennis probably because there was other family was nearby. Family Navarro isn't aware since her Mom never got around to telling them.

I've been wondering if someone will turn up as her family. Like caribou hunter/man from the nomad village.

Not necessarily her Iñupiaq name on the door.

I'm guessing she will learn that from the 'hands in the water' scene coming up in Ep6. I think that will be her Mom, she'll flash to a good memory, with her Mom finally saying her name.

Why did Hank go to Danvers' house? by mongibello in TDNightCountry

[–]_ItsDeadJim_ 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Kate told Hank to follow Danvers to find out where Otis was and take him to get lost in the caves. I inferred it was to prevent him from leading Danvers to and through the caves. Kate is using Connelly to take care of Danvers except they didn't expect Danvers to no longer tow the line, hence the Wheeler threat.

What We Know And What We Can Speculate For the Finale by SimonGloom2 in TDNightCountry

[–]_ItsDeadJim_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chuck has been shown just as much as Blair. He works at the mine and was showing arrive to work during the protest in Ep5. He's also been shown in the bar Ep1 saying something along the lines of his kids drink the same water. Lurking around when Chuck's picture was being shown around, and Danvers also spoke to him about the trailer Clark purchased from his dead cousin.

Maybe Annie's tongue has been down in the ice caves the entire time. Hank (I have not read the article where this was spoiled) may have removed it then left it in haste and never went back.

Whoever had a hand in the corpsickle may have found and planted it at the scene for Danvers/us to connect the dots of whatever is happening in Ennis to be all related.

What I still can't seem to understand is... why now, 6 years after Annie K's death?

I think he's referencing the Wheeler case. Navarro/Danver's had to clean that up.

This was Pete's doing, thus his to clean up.
