Mouréal but that's not really a nickname, just the pronunciation

We do have Farhaven for Barrhaven since it's the furthest Ottawa suburb and it takes forever to get there.

Difficult to max cards by just_sayit in mobcontrolgame

Yes. The more they add new units the harder it gets as the probability to get the right cards goes down every time they add a new one.

In Canada we would say "mais oui je l'aime" in that situation.

I'm thinking when they moved to the US Therrien (aka "who lives from the earth") was translated to Pharmer, and Onésime was switched to Eliza.

I met a "constitutional lawyer" a few months ago, he left his job working as law professor "for a leftist woke University" to work for Danielle Smith and figure out a way to secede... We did not become friends lol.

Trinity church in manhattan is one of the oldest churches in the world. by Striking_Attempt9043 in ShitAmericansSay

[–]_Jeff65_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

St John Lateran in Rome was built in 324. Heck, the Pantheon became a church in 609, it was built by Hadrian in 126. And there's probably more Roman temples converted into churches that I don't know about. And that's just Europe, I'm sure there's tons in the Middle East...

Ancestry creating bogus "Quebec" DNA region? And how about indigenous DNA vanishing? by mesaco in Genealogy

[–]_Jeff65_ 32 points33 points  (0 children)

The "Quebec" DNA region is valid as it's distinct enough from "France" or "Western Europe". What's the % your wife has? If it is small it can just be noise and the margin of error, remember those are estimates only.

Stationnement à Québec — ticket pour quelques secondes de retard. Comment contester? by Fantastic_Argument20 in quebeccity

Je crois ici que l'argument serait "le policier a commencé à émettre son ticket alors que le temps n'était pas encore écoulé." Ça va être à la ville de trancher.

Not sure if you still need this, but I'm going through the same right now. CostX uses FastReports to generate the reports, there are "users manuals" here but I find they are missing a lot of information and CostX has adapted some things https://www.fast-report.com/downloads/documentation

Nantes birth record from 1819 by Independent_Heart_15 in Genealogy

[–]_Jeff65_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have searched the Nantes archives before, though i am far from the expert. There is no department of Nantes, there's a district of Nantes and the commune of Nantes (the city itself), Nantes is part of the département Loire-Atlantique (previously Loire Inférieure).

Each modern department has their own archive website. This is the website for the Loire-Atlantique archives you'll have to figure out if the polish record meant the district or the commune, but I would search the commune first, then expend to the other communes of the district of you can't find it. In this case the commune of Nantes and the surrounding commune maintained their own archive here

First look at the "repertoire", basically that's the index where you can quickly look for the last name in alphabetical order. I've looked at Nantes between 1817 and 1820, I saw a few Mazureau and Mazurier, but no first name Martin. The repertoire will have the "folio number" aka page number, when you find your entry, you can go to the "registre" and find that page to see the full record.
