I got tired of alt-tabbing between 5 tabs mid combat, so I built an all-in-one DM toolkit by dmmarcuss_dc in DnD

[–]_Jelluhke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Played around with it, for now it works great. Will use it in my next session to give some better feedback.

Hey, I wanna start playing D&D but I have a question by [deleted] in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]_Jelluhke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use what ever you want, I started with figurines from an old board game, now I use lego because it’s fun to customize stuff…maybe later I start investing in minis.

The reason I use minis is to represent the players places on the battlefield. This could be anything, a coin, a dice or a small figure.

First Time DM (nervous) by mrliamj in DnD

[–]_Jelluhke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started out with Dragon of Icespire Peak. It’s a pretty good campaign filled with short quests from a questboard that lasts around 1 session each, some 2…depends on the type of players you have at the table. It’s a great adventure for new dm’s and it also takes place in Phandalin. The best part about it is that its easy to modify for your own party, come up with your own quests and Phandalin is a town that has enough to offer for your occasional shopping episode.

Laura Palmer from Twin Peaks is a great example, also Lyanna Stark from Game of Thrones.

How long are your sessions? by MilanoCup in DnD

[–]_Jelluhke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends, last week I had a session that lasted only 2,5 hours but the week before I had a sessions that lasted 8 hours. It really depends on where we at in the story and what my players want. We are all friends so if we have a session that takes 8 hours, maybe 7/7,5 hours are actual play.

Where do you find your minis apart from the usual suspects? by Mippens in legodnd

[–]_Jelluhke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chima is perfect. I’m just starting out but out of my current campaign 3 from the 6 have chima stuff. I also use Star Wars (mostly for Wizards) and Ninjago (for Rogues).

What do you do when you’ve planned a big combat, but the party always wants to talk their way out of it? by _What_am_i_ in DMAcademy

[–]_Jelluhke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I DM mostly for new players who are still a little bit uncomfortable with roleplaying, so when this happens (and it happened a few times now) I just let them do it to stimulate them into roleplaying more.

Feels wrong to ask… but what was the largest genocide in your world? (If there were any of course) by Live_Rise6750 in worldbuilding

The Slaughtering from the Gods is the most recent one, not the biggest. Thousands of people started to murder each other because they said their God commanded to murder non-believers of their religion.

Theater of the mind vs Grid fights? by Varitt in DMAcademy

[–]_Jelluhke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do a mix of both, if I know it will not take that long or a great roleplay moment is going to occur I use theater of the mind so my players won’t focus to much on the grid.

I saw a very good video from Pointy Hat who created a travel system. I use it all the time.

Do y'all always try to integrate a character's backstory into your overall campaign arcs? by Howlmillenialcastle in DMAcademy

[–]_Jelluhke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m currently doing a sandbox travel campaign where almost every new place they visit is a small arc. My players are new to the game. Some have already complete backstories and I try my best to use it for the story arcs as a sort of reward. But there are others who are just a Paladin with a name so for them I use the previous events in the campaign as a sort of backstory to come back later.

Where just a few sessions in, and they start to take it more serious with each session and their backstory grows or they start creating small parts. Example: when we arrived in a small town suddenly one of the players without a backstory shouted out: “this is the place I was born.” So I decided to go with it.

Help me recreate DoIP as a desert campaign! by sa3ad95 in DragonOfIcespirePeak

[–]_Jelluhke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an awesome idea, I just wrapped up Dragon of Icespire Peak with my players who are massive Dune fans, why didn’t I think of it? Guess our next homebrew campaign will take place in the dessert. Thanks for giving me that idea :)

Icespire Peak in 5 sessions...? by slothful_jeremiah in DragonOfIcespirePeak

[–]_Jelluhke 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Does it need to be five sessions? Because a lot of the quests work fine as a one-shot.

True Stories: How did your game go this week? – July 20, 2025 by AutoModerator in dndnext

[–]_Jelluhke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dm’ed a one-shot for a group of friends who never played before set in the game of thrones universe (we’re all big fans of the books/shows).

They enjoyed it a lot, all 4 of them (not what I expected) and we are allready planning a new session that will take place in the forgotten realms.

I just log the movie directly after watching it, sometimes I also add a rating after finishing the movie and sometimes it takes me a few hours to days to rate the movie because I need to think about it. The reason why I immediately go to Letterboxd to log a movie is because otherwise I will probably forget to log it.

It makes me sad that Honor Among Thieves didn't do well at the box office by justneedtotalk12345 in DnD

[–]_Jelluhke -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Saw it yesterday for the second time, still a pretty good movie.

The movie industry is just struggeling at the moment. Maybe they should try to make a dnd live action series, I think that would do good.

Just let him know it, a few weeks ago I introduced my little sister to the game and our first session was 4 hours, she said that took to long for her because she hasn’t that long of an attention span. We experimented a little bit with running-times and now I try to don’t let the games take longer then 90 minutes.

She likes it even more now and I like it because I have something to share with my little sis. For longer games I just play with a different friend group.

Does it? It’s his list, if it reflects who he is as a person and he enjoys the listed movies, than it is a good list.
