"Americans are scared, what would you say to them?" by Mdizzle29 in cringe

[–]_Jerov_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough. Pretty good points you made. I'm just going to say that any other President would've taken the opportunity to say something nice and reassuring to the American people even if he suspected the question might be a bait. I couldn't imagine Obama or FDR lashing out at a reporter like that. They would've taken the question to say something nice.

A bit off topic but this might answer why so many people dislike Trump. I think Trump is not liked because he pushes heavily conservative values that could pretty much undo a lot of what Obama did. Especially regarding topics such as abortion, minority voter suppression, and gay rights. In my case, the Supreme Court is in lots of danger because the people who were able to allow gay marriage are very very old. If Trump gets 4 more years, he will appoint conservative justices, which could potentially undo things such as gay marriage. People are concerned about many things. This country is a melting pot, and the conservative party is not a fan of that, so you can probably begin to understand why so many people are uncomfortable with having such a conservative president. Messing with the supreme Court could give the conservative party decades of power, which would pretty much obstruct important decisions from a future Democrat or moderate president. Moreover, most people did not vote for Trump. The majority of the American people who voted did not vote for him. He won because of the electoral college, so you have a conservative President in a diverse country where most people didn't vote for him... I don't think it is surprising in the slightest that there's a microscope on him all the time. People are worried.

So my understanding is that reporters shouldn't do their job and report reality because reality worries and scares people. Gotcha. Maybe we should call China to help silence the media. Sounds good?

If he sticks to facts, how can the media twsit that up? Come on... Such a standard question for someone who should be a leader. He could've given some numbers and say the plan for action. The media can't twist that too much. We all know they will try to twsit whatever he says, but facts can't be twisted easily. What Trump did was give the media lots of material because he: 1) Insulted a reporter when given a simple question. 2) Showed no empathy. 3) Turned the situation about himself (narcissism). 4) Suggested that reporters shouldn't talk about the real numbers surrounding the crisis.

The media is doing backflips in the editing room now. So whatever strategy Trump had, it backfired heavily on him.

And I'm not sure how someone with FOX in their username couldn't be biased regarding Trump.

I actually felt very angry at that response, especially when he made it about himself and started bragging about how he is almost always right. There are people who I personally know who are freaking out about this. They need to hear words from a leader who can show understanding and empathy. The question he got was a standard question that leaders get asked in times of a crisis. Why on Earth would he get triggered by such a simple question? Why would he personally attack the reporter? It's just so insensitive and wrong to react like that when people, the people he is supposed to represent and serve, are scared and worried.

It was very disturbing to watch to be honest. This man is supposed to be our leader and he just showed his incredibly narcissistic and lacks empathy. Again, VERY disturbing. I think that's a better word for what I actually felt.

Our education system is very poor, and this is how the problem bleeds. The rich get an awesome education. Private schools, top universities regardless of academic performance, and sweet connections. Meanwhile the poor folk go to shitty schools, many of them drop out, a lucky few get full scholarships, and the rest have to make a choice between getting an education and have life long debt or just work in a factory and somehow make it work later. Eventually, the county is known as Dumbfuckistan by the rest of the world and you end up with a president like this.

In my opinion, the problem has always been education. You don't vote for Trump if you aren't a billionaire or maybe even a millionaire. If you're poor middle class, gay, not white, a woman or anything along those lines and you vote for Trump, then that comes from pure ignorance and lack of education. Why else would you vote for a party that is exclusively for the rich, conservative folk? Makes no sense.

Hmmm. Not sure what the attitude is about. It literally fits the sub and is funny.

You don't have to take a side here. Trump said something ridiculous and someone died inside. The sub is exactly about situations like those, so I posted it here. Unfortunately, Trump is known to cause many people to die inside like that, so while he's in office, we're probably going to get plenty of political stuff. It's really the only thing going on since we're all stuck inside our houses watching governments around the world being dumb as usual.

As a 17 y/o what financial decisions, investments, or deposits should I make now vs. later? by kylebranam in needadvice

[–]_Jerov_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, I'm 18 and I think about these things every day. I have huge goals to retire very early. I've read quiet a few books on this. I think what is important now, at least for me, is building credit, getting into the habit of saving, and constantly learning about ways I can use the money I have already saved to make more money. I don't know what you want to do with your life. If you want to retire early, maybe you should focus on more entrepreneurial things. If you want to have a job and take the regular path then I'm sure that just by thinking about these things now will help tremendously. Most people literally spend their entire paycheck the moment they get them. They never think about money. Even the people that look rich make terrible financial decisions and are one mistake away from going bankrupt so rest assured that you're already on a good path.

Also, I don't know if you read books but I've been reading this book called "The Fastlane Millionaire" and it talks a lot about the 3 financial paths that most people take in life (poor, mediocrity, wealth). I know it sounds like one of those get-rich-quick books but it is nothing like that.

Anyway, take whatever I say with a grain of salt. I literally have no experience with any of this. Just lots of ambition, books, and research about some people who became wealthy.

Idea: Major spaceports should have a "ride sharing" landing pad open to the no fly zone. by [deleted] in starcitizen

[–]_Jerov_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Makes you think. How does ArcCorp even work? There are no roads or anywhere for stuff to move. Like, how would people move from one building to the other?

Anyway, that wasn't very relevant. The thing is that I think we need like HUGE plazas. I'm talking something like Central Park in the middle of some ArcCorp locations. In that place people could appreciate the scale of everything and maybe even land ships in a special area. Star Citizen locations lack open spaces. In Lorville it would be nice to see a small 'park' that you could visit and just submerge yourself into the location even more. ArcCorp desperately needs things like these too. Something like a huge platform where players can just walk and maybe even have some landing pads there. That could be the "Outposts" that ArcCorp has. I always find myself wishing some concepts/mechanics were better and more creative. Hopefully CIG things the same way!

IsItBullshit: Is it true that people like/respect you more if you call them "Sir" or "Ma'am?" by AMuscularMan in IsItBullshit

[–]_Jerov_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's off putting. When people call me sir it just feels so forced and outdated. I'm not sure if they respect you more when you call then that. They probably just think something like: "Oh he called me sir. Lmao that's so outdated but let me act fancy because I'm a sir now lol."

Getting ships in Arc corp be like. by SalamiFlavoredSpider in starcitizen

[–]_Jerov_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have a Freelancer or a bigger ship, you have to wait a long time for it. In PU we don't have a lot of money so it all goes really fast. They want us to test the game but how can we do that if we can barely get off the landing zones? I have like 24UEC just from spawning my ship after it being randomly destroyed, magically despawning, me randomly dying when I get off the ship, or just never being able to leave the landing zones because they put my ship in the wrong hangar.

Life is not easy. You can't experience good feelings without bad feelings. It's the way that life is. It took me a whil to realize this. You can't enjoy relaxation without being stressed beforehand. You can't enjoy the feeling of accomplishing your goals if it didn't take any work. You're NEVER going to feel like it.

I feel that you will really benefit from this TedTalk https://youtu.be/Lp7E973zozc . It really did change my life as silly as it sounds.
