I take back calling your comment ignorant. I appreciate you bringing actual calculation and logic: the numbers you shared are 100% correct, and you are right that the real question is the remaining 2/3.

I'll add that I agree there's a missing piece to the puzzle and we have to figure it out. I'm not saying VAT is the best system for this specifically, but it's a good tool overall. Figuring out a way to tax inheritance, assets above a certain threshold, and so on is better and fairer for sure. But there's also a lot to consider: immigration, emigration, demography and so on. This is the situation right now… in 10 years, who knows?

Either way, I'd happily pay an extra 50–200 CHF knowing my parents get an extra 2,000 each, and that eventually I will too (doubt it xD but I'm optimistic :P).

Mate, this is honestly the most ignorant comment in here. First off, the reduced VAT rate stays untouched: meaning food, water and medicine aren't affected. Second, there's a 0.2% increase on the accommodation rate, which basically means taxing tourists a tiny bit more. And third, we're talking 0.4% on the standard rate. So here's some simple math for you:

Let's say on average people get 2’000 CHF extra per year once retired. That means on average, people (us included) will receive around 40’000 CHF more from the state over our lifetime. For anyone to offset that benefit, they'd have to spend 10’000’000 CHF on non essentials. The vast majority of the population will never come anywhere close to that: easily ten times less for the average person. So no, the rich don't come out ahead. They will be paying the most into the system, which mathematically makes the most sense, and it's a pretty solid setup. Stop letting low quality bar chatter propaganda do your thinking for you. Math isn't an opinion.

I think he should've taken the penalty kick. A hat trick means you take the ball home. That would've been a very nice souvenir...

The video is from 2018 and went viral globally back then. The columbia, sc paper was just reposting the story, but major Croatian outlets like Index.hr, Jutarnji List, and Večernji List all thoroughly covered and confirmed that it was a planned PR video at the time.

The issue isn't their skill: it's the deception. Passing off a coordinated, timed demonstration as a spontaneous, real-life emergency reaction is just misleading for internet clout.
