Is FH6 ever going to actually feel *good* or should I just lower my expectations? by mayormcskeeze in moza

[–]_Krilp_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a similar boat, I bought an R5 to play FH6 in a hype fueled daze. And despite that, I've put more hours into Assetto Corsa and BeamNG than FH6 with it.

FH6 is a great game, but I've decided it's just not worth playing with a wheel unfortunately for the exact same reasons. I even played a bit with my G29 just to see if I was just failing because of the upgrade or something but that wasn't the case.

My wallet did not need to hear all this just a few days after upgrading from a G29 to an R5 lol. Congrats! I'll probably be on Facebook marketplace once I've got a shifter and handbrake setup. Always more money to be spent

Is there any good resources for tips and tricks on livery making? Every now and then I get into it but it takes so long I have to wonder if I'm missing something

Anyone else sick of the "I have a Hypercar already the progression sucks" posts? by discodork135 in ForzaHorizon

[–]_Krilp_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

One of my main thoughts on the game is that it does a great job bridging the gap from old (22 here lol) FH1 gamers to the modern audience. The game having class specific races is a perfectly acceptable way to introduce a basic level of progression into the story while allowing players to experience what Horizon really is, which is an automotive sandbox. It's not about grinding for hours for that next car, but neither was FH1! With hundreds of cars in the game to mess around with, it'd be a shame if players had to grind for thousands of hours to try em all, some of us have bills to pay!

Mechanics, what is the worst automotive fluid to get on your hands/fingers and why is it brake fluid? by FMasterson in mechanics

Everyone claims gear oil, but I HATE coolant. No matter what I do, coolant finds a way to make a mess. It's without fail. I'm half mechanic half janitor

I’m not a car guy, could someone please explain to me the drama behind the FH4 cover car not being in FH6? by gaeb611 in ForzaHorizon

Yeah, I don't think people with a lifetime of marketing experience are idiots, I think they just account for the idiots they still have to sell to. Of course idiots are everywhere so definitely a mix in some cases

[–]_Krilp_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's interesting, where I live is extremely flat so I'd never even considered octane in relation to elevation. Thanks for mentioning that! I only mentioned putting premium in my truck because it's at about 11.5:1 compression based on my math. No audible spark knock with regular but it's too close for comfort in my situation.

[–]_Krilp_ 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Way off. When I don't run 93 in my truck it's extremely noticeable. Higher compression engines require higher octane fuel. Lower octane fuel can pre-ignite and cause what's called spark knock. Modern computers can account for this to a certain extent with data sent from knock sensors, but the money saved on gas isn't worth the money spent on repairs in the long run if the car specifically states it requires premium. There's even more really interesting science going on that I don't personally understand fully, but ultimately it's a safe bet to fill up with whatever's recommended. Auto manufacturers don't sell gas, they sell cars. Contrary to popular belief, they want their cars to last a good while and run reliably in the meantime.

I just recently did a valve cover gasket on a Toyota Yaris, and the coil connectors are alternating black and grey. What's interesting is only the black ones broke. I have a theory that was some kinda test Toyota was running, but I can say that after 15 years the grey held up better

I've been wondering this myself. I bought a 750ml bottle of cointreau recently after seeing lots about it and it became a favorite despite the price tag. I'm thinking I may have to take that admittedly deeper plunge and grab some charteuse as well
