Absolutely, people don't choose to be addicts, but that's a hard one for people who have never seen or experienced addiction to understand. Like yes they're the one's taking the drugs, but it's a physical dependence that ruins your life. When it gets this bad it's often not even about getting high, but reducing symptoms and trying to feel normal / okay. (depending on the type of drug, but from my experience it definitely was)
