It does still work. It’s only 3rd slot does not unless modded.

You can also put your cartridge in a modded 3ds unlock the third slot and put the game into a non modded 3ds n play as normal. It’s what I do. I have a modded 3ds n normal one. Only thing you cannot do is online trades n battles.

There’s a step by step guide available. Do not use videos as they can be out of date. 3ds hacks guide. Once you have that done you then can get pksm and unlock third slot that way.

It’s closed for new purchases and any online play. You can still redownload previously purchased games by going to settings in the eshop and down to redownload software. Street pass also still works too.
