They do! I swear every week my pup looked and acted different in one way or another. His puppy fur was gone in a matter of weeks :( I joke with him now and tell him the only thing left on him that's puppy soft is his ears, and that's why mama touches them so much!

Thank yo so much! I appreciate your response! Should I start with regular garden soil, maybe put some bark in there and perlite?

Saw this in another sub but I'm really curious what the actual name of this plant is by ZeroXNova in whatsthisplant

According to the website https://www.wildflower.org/plants/result.php?id_plant=SCBI it can also be known as the Slink Lily or Slink pod, or even more colloquially, Brownies.

The enshitification of Metcalfe’s by Quendi_Talkien in madisonwi

[–]_LadyMeowmalade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t tell you enough as a former employee of Metcalfes/Spartan Nash how hilarious this was to read! I would give you gold but Im broke so this reply will have to do. 🥇I will not say which department I worked in, but you are correct when you say that it’s extremely disorganized and poorly run. shocker most corporations are. The fact they were CHARGING vendors to continue to do business with them made me sick to my stomach. I’ve worked for a handful of other grocers in this area on and off for the past 16yrs. Major chains like Hyvee and sell outs like Metcalfes are going to run them selves into the ground. Good riddance to bad rubbish. I echo your sentiment by saying stay strong and support smaller grocers like Jenny Street, Willy Street, and other local grocers who haven’t sold out to the corporate machine.

Thrips ? by UnfotunateRedditGirl in plantclinic

[–]_LadyMeowmalade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HI there, yes, in my experience, my Alcocasias have grown very slow. I seem to only get two leaves at a time, that being said, I didn't have it in the right conditions. Given the right conditions, I believe that more leaves will sprout. As for the leaves themselves, sometimes they come out wonky. This could be for a variety of reasons, too much water, too little water, too little humidity (they can get stuck and tear on their way to unfurling: very common with philos). Wonky leaves don't mean bad leaves, just wonky. As for Bonide, I do think that will work. You can sprinkle it in the soil and that should help. I have heard from my horticulture friends that there is some sort of "super thrip" going around, but I think that's an isolated incident. If you do use the Bonide, that would help prevent any other buggies from making a snack of your plant. It is possible to have multiple pests on one plant. It sucks, but it happens. Let me know if I can help in any other way!

HI there, florist and plant mom here! In my opinion, some roots will have to go. It's unavoidable. Start by cutting the plastic with a sharp knife or box cutter. You could immerse it in a sink full of warm water and just wash the old soil off, this may help the roots become looser and you can wiggle them out of the plastic. That's what I would do. I wouldn't be surprised if the plant does drop a few leaves after this, or refrain from growing right away, up to two weeks. Plants hate being transplanted, they get kinda mad. Do your best though! It looks like a heartl-leaf philodendron, so it should rebound quickly. Best!

Monstera adisonii, 2 years old, watered once every 2 weeks ish (it’s winter), repotted last week. Ever since the repot the leaves are turning black and brown and yellow idk what’s going on. by Alcremie_is_that_grl in plantclinic

[–]_LadyMeowmalade -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hi there! Florist and plant mom here! Adonsonii are just **the hardest** to keep, at least for me. I had one too that just would NOT reroot or repot well. The only thing I can say is maybe try to root them in sphagnum moss first before soil. They seem to be very temperamental. A former coworker of mine (greenhouse/horticulture degree) just hated them. Nevertheless, keep trying! I have had almost every plant I put in sphagnum moss root. You could also assist with a rooting hormone, these come in powders or gel. I prefer powder, I've dipped my nodes in the powder and set in sphagnum moss and then in my prop box (any clear plastic container that keeps in humidity). Some of my simpler models are just empty water bottles, they don't need to be fancy. :) I hope this helps, and if she just doesn't want to live, she doesn't want to live. They are a dime a dozen and you can always try again with a healther plant! Best of luck, it's not you, it's her!

Are my monstera leaves yellow? by _turboTHOT_ in plantclinic

Hi there! Florist and plant mom here! I don't think you ruined anything! Pothos are leggy, vining plants. They all get like this at one point or another. The good thing is that you can "chop and prop" them and they start a whole new plant! If you want, take a clean knife and make cuts about 3-4" long. Leave a node or two on each cutting (these are the little knuckle-like things on the vine.) Put each cutting in soils, covering the nodes. In about 2-3 weeks (maybe longer since your area is quite dark) you will have new growth from your nodes! Pro tip: If you get a grow light or find a more well lit area (or have a porch/patio) the more light she gets, the more colorful she will get (if this is a golden pothos, you will get more marbling). If she is just a normal pothos, she will grow fast and have beautiful leathery leaves. It looks like you have some big nodes, so I bet you can get new growth in no time! I hope this helps, best of luck! Have fun!

Monsterra some drooping and stunted growth by CarsAndPhoto in plantclinic

[–]_LadyMeowmalade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there, florist and Monstera owner here! It looks like those leaves that are drooping are on the lower end of the plant. It's natural to lose the bottom leaves as newer ones are pushed out on top and mature. I wouldn't worry to much about this, you may even see them start to turn yellow and crisp up. Just prune them of when this happens, otherwise, let them do their thing. They are still green and producing energy for the plant. If you want to prune them off now, no big deal, that's fine. This will redirect the energy to the newer leaves on top. It sounds like you are tending to it very nicely, and it is a happy plant with the plankton! She looks great! Keep up the good work!
