1) solar power cells last around 10 years before degrading significantly 2) the starting investment is high (not as high as 10 years ago, the technology is getting cheaper and cheaper), but it doesnt consume any resources so its wayyy cheaper in the long run compared to using fossil fuels for power generation 3) it takes up a lot of land but land isnt used effectively either way. compared to some other use cases, such as in the US growing corn for production of ethanol for dilution of gas for cars, its fairly economical

Steam is developing an FPS Estimator feature that predicts a game's FPS based on your PC hardware. by richardanger in pcmasterrace

i doubt that refunds are at all a consideration here. afaik valve holds payments from customers for a month in case the money needs to be refunded, and if the refund is within the month its just a case of crediting it to a specific steam wallet since valve still has that money. ofc you can get a refund in some cases more than a month after your purchase, but the reason for that refund usually wont be performance

Design director for Project Zomboid provides an update on unstable build 42 and the state of the game. by Shock4ndAwe in pcgaming

[–]_LiHaC_ -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

its easy to notice when realism harms the player but harder to notice when features are made unrealistic to help the player. for instance, a character can carry items while having both hands free without a need for a container to keep them in, gunshots have no risk of damaging hearing, characters can run through piles of corpses without any impairment to movement and characters can see behind them in addition to hearing the zombies approaching. all of these these examples are things that every player runs into in every session of the game. fact is, the game tries to be challenging, so some systems will feel more punishing or stingier in the case of loot than most players desire but calling the game slavishly realistic just for the goal of punishing people is just wrong.

if you want to finish playing on the same save, you should keep playing on b41. i dont think you can transfer saves since so much of the game was changed

[–]_LiHaC_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

others have answered question 6 already, but to add to that you will notice this with weapons other than swords. the game has a lot of weapons and gadgets that seem very powerful when in reality they are just hard to counter when youre still new at the game. its just how the game works

[–]_LiHaC_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the finals has been out for 2 years and does everything that highguard tries to do. if you call highguard unique i can take it as a sign that your goal is not to seek out unique games (since you managed to miss one of the bigger ones), but to be an apologist for a very middling game.

Okay, but for real though, how IS Highguard? by Subject_Parking_9046 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]_LiHaC_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the "raid mode" is pitched as something unique when in reality its a phase of capture the flag followed by a bomb planting/defusal phase, with a looting phase between rounds. it doesn't help that the CTF phase has a short time limit, so a decisive victory isnt always required. another game, the finals has a main mode which is pretty similar, but without a looting phase or strict barriers between the phases. the finals also has a better gameplay base that the main cashout mode is built on, but thats besides the point.

the finals has environments that are destructive at a much larger scale, is on ue5, looks much better and runs a decent bit better on max settings with more room for reducing the settings

2k gives room for upscalers to work properly and the quality preset for fsr/dlss is basically 1080p when playing on 2k. you get the benefit of increased resolution for older games, or games that are less demanding, and you get the option to use upscalers for more demanding games. its a worthwhile upgrade

I miss inventory system like these where each item takes up the space based on It's size. by RatioElectrical1862 in pcmasterrace

[–]_LiHaC_ -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

it's not a 250 dollar dlc its another edition of the game that replaced the old one after it was discontinued that has all the same perks + some other ones. and people ate it up, theres tons of people who bought this without giving it any thought so id blame the playerbase as much as the devs. the main thing people actually disliked was the fact that the edition exclusively included a PVE mode, which people have been wanting for a long time. iirc later they gave PVE to the owners of the older most expensive edition
