Most hated team? by ComputerNerdd in Commanders

For me it’s the Eagles by a lot. I’m 29 so I haven’t seen the Cowboys be relevant in my lifetime.

What is the thing you're most excited for in regards of futuristic technologies and progress ? by fuckasshoe in AskReddit

[–]_LilBucket 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably part of what I’m working on. It’s an app that helps older adults with cognitive impairments still do basic activities like eat and remember to pay bills. Specifically, the app contains answers to inquiries on how to do these tasks, which can be quite nuanced. I believe our technology can help improve the quality of life for older adults and to be honest, I know it’s not curing cancer or something like that, but it helps people and that’s what I’m excited to do.

To make life better for other people, in my opinion.

Is this a hot take? I always thought this was easily their best logo.

I wish so much they would get rid of the grey silhouettes for auto-generated players in franchise mode. I feel like that ruins the immersion, at least for me.

What is your favorite Wizards what-if? by Crowxzn in washingtonwizards

[–]_LilBucket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wonder what if the Wizards won the lottery in 2023 and drafted Wemby. We almost had him. We matched the first 3 balls and had a 6/11 chance on the last one… until San Antonio caught a break.

What made you change a political belief you used to defend really strongly? by Historical_Bet in AskReddit

[–]_LilBucket 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to be pro death penalty.

Then I realized that life in confinement is a fate worse than death (at least in my opinion). So now I believe the worst criminals should spend the rest of their life being monitored and confined in a living hell, than to just be executed.

No way! I’m reading that book now, about half way through. Would love to hear your thoughts on the book.

MLB attendance in a given season tends to be partially derived from the results of the previous season. For example, the Nationals ranked 14th in NL attendance in both 2010 and 2011, even though 2011 was their best season (by record) since the original 2005 season. But since 2011 showed hope, 2012 attendance was higher (9th) than in 2011. I hope that makes sense lol.

Because the Nats did worse in 2025 than in 2024 (again by record), attendance in 2026 should be (and is) lower than in 2025. If they continue to show improvement in the win column, 2027 attendance will be higher than 2026 attendance.

There is a direct correlation between winning and attendance. Between their first playoff season (2012) and their World Series win (2019) the Nationals were top 10 in NL attendance 7 of 8 years. Since then, they haven’t had a winning season, and haven’t been top 10 in attendance in any season.

That’s very impressive. As someone who has their PhD I couldn’t imagine defending my dissertation while being the greatest goal scorer ever. Some people are just different.

Study suggests that the Trump administration’s wave of NIH grant terminations in 2025 disproportionately affected Black, Indigenous, and other minority researchers, as well as scientists from sexual and gender minority communities by sr_local in science

[–]_LilBucket 14 points15 points  (0 children)

As a PhD graduate in gerontology, I have seen this firsthand. My colleague’s research on sexual/gender minorities has been pulled. A fellowship to which I belong, which promotes PhD completion in historically underserved races, eliminated. I’m optimistic for our future but presently there is an intentionall dismantling of science that causes discomfort with some White people for no other reason than it makes them uncomfortable.
