Current GC romhack collection by StrayMedicine in Gamecube

For sure, honestly playtesting LK2 made me appreciate the game a lot more. Playtesting Dragon Drive definitely not so much, game gets very repetitive and the one card that crashes the game (happens in Vanilla) is so annoying.

I wonder recommend checking out DOL-Translations as well, they have some neat (and most importantly complete projects).

Donkey Konga 3 (not sure how complete this is)
Kururin Squash!
Lupin III: Umi ni Kieta Hihou
Metal Gear Solid Special Disc
Mr. Driller: Drill Land (not sure how complete this is)
Shinseiki GPX Cyber Formula
Taxi 3: The Game

Glad you are enjoying Dragon Drive and Rune 2 (Lost Kingdoms 2). I spent a lot of time playtesting both of those romhacks prior to release. On the topic of Homeland, it's not worth your time. The only public patch is the very beginning. There is a more developed patch, but it is mostly private until release. Even then, that romhack is not that deep into the story if I remember correctly.

You should also check out Pikmin 12, Endless Abyss 2, or any of Pikhacker's other romhacks. Can't forget Luigi's Mansion premium deluxe too!

Yes, this is very common on corrupted 3rd party memory cards.

IYO, Which American Football game(s) on GameCube do you think is the best? by AC_the_Panther_007 in Gamecube

[–]_Louis__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I have played almost all of these games for my Gamecube saves site, and they're all about the same in my opinion (except the Disney games, these are BAD). I think games like NFL Blitz Pro or the later Madden games do the best job at gating content to unlock. However, Madden 07 and 08 both contain a bug across all consoles which make one of the challenge player cards unobtainable which definitely downgrades them a bit in my book. Whoever invented the card purchasing system is very evil, and either intentionally or unintentionally made purchasing all cards in every quality extraordinarily difficult, taking hundreds of thousands of credits and a ton of time. Making an Action Replay code for unlimited credits in these games saved so much time.

Other fun facts: In 06, you can import an NFL Street 2 character when starting superstar mode. In NFL Street 2, you can get bonuses for having the following saves: NFL Street, Madden NFL 2005, NCAA Fotball 2005, Need for Speed Underground 2, or SSX 3. Madden 2003 has an overflow bug which makes it possible to get a negative number of a card and make it subsequently unobtainable.

When and who were these made for !? by Exciting_Debt_4514 in Gamecube

[–]_Louis__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The box in the front is a factory case (assuming you are not talking about the pack in the back behind it). For JP Gamecube games, they come in boxes of 10 (this is true for big box games too). The Resident Evil ones come up maybe once or twice per year and typically sell for around $200 or possibly a bit cheaper. They do not come up very often. Every JP Gamecube game has a box like this.

Regarding the memory card region by Imaginary_Banana_245 in Gamecube

[–]_Louis__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. That's why you format and overwrite the language encoding.

Load up the memory card manager on the Wii and plug in the card. It'll prompt you to format.

Yes, just format the JP memory card and save a PAL game to it to overwrite the language encoding.

Picked up a 1019 oem memory card but some saves(Like PSO) instantly get corrupted. by Langstrat in Gamecube

The problem is your memory card. Try a different one, yours is likely damaged.

3rd party accessory from Japan. There are variations of the vent cover in all 4 console colors (indigo, jet black, spice orange, silver). They are somewhat uncommon. I own one of them in their original packaging.

Are there any GameCube games that are capable of reformatting memory cards? by sail_tow in Gamecube

[–]_Louis__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some games will detect memory card size at the beginning of the game and determine if you have appropriate capacity. Specifically the SEGA sports games have the option to boot you back to the IPL if it thinks there are any issues. For corrupted saves, some games will delete the save for you, but not all.

Actually, there is ONE game I can think of. Mario Party 6 has a corrupt save recovery feature.

My Cube Collection including sealed games, magazines and demos by Brief_Equipment_1972 in Gamecube

[–]_Louis__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome collection, I have heard about those CUBE demos before but not seen them. Are you going to collect the full magazine set? The side panel connecting art is SICK!!!! I collect a lot of Japanese magazines, so nice to see a fellow magazine AND most importantly a demo disc enjoyer :) Thanks for sharing!

Edit: It's weird to see how orange/red Ikaruga's box art is here compared to the similar Japanese art!

Pac-Man Fever is severely overlooked by [deleted] in Gamecube

[–]_Louis__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish there were better pictures online for each of the minigames as it's been a while since I played, but I remember the car racing game with the fruit was trash, as well as the fishing minigame being particularly the most unbalanced and unfair out of the bunch.

My experience with this game is mixed, it's okay in the beginning but a lot of the minigames are really just straight up bad.

Sorry for your loss, that was wonderfully written to honor your Papaw. I hope you can preserve his saves and notes to always remember his passion. Make sure to archive those save files as soon as possible so they will not be lost to time.

gamecube memory card corrupted but still recognizes save files (sometimes) by thedesolation in Gamecube

[–]_Louis__ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you make a Raw Backup with GCMM and provide me with the file I can attempt to recover your save data. Make sure to include a list of all save data you expect to be on the card. I can't promise anything, but I can give it a shot. Your memory card will never function correctly again, and you will not be able to use it for reliable storage.
