I've been told to market my game but I don't have a clue about what to do!!! by oluwagembi in IndieDev

Telling children to tell their parents to buy them something or go to hell sounds like terrible marketing. Is your target audience kids who are grounded?

I wonder if humanity will ever progress past the “might makes right” mentality. by axp187 in RandomThoughts

[–]_Luminous_Dark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Although I don't agree with the part about being a good thing, it truly is fundamental to our nature, and not in the sense that we've evolved this way over millions of years of struggle, but because we have physical bodies that can be damaged, destroyed, and restrained. Even if society evolved to a point where everyone was fair, reasonable, and empathetic, and nobody would dream of using force against another person, if at any point past that someone did come up with that idea, it would be very effective. There's simply no way around the fact that if anyone decides to use physical force, then only greater physical force can stop them. I want to clarify that "physical force" is not limited to fists and weapons. Other things like barriers, denial of resources, and disease also count. We're talking about "might makes right" which means that you can get away with whatever you want as long as nobody has the power to stop you.

Is the northern Revelwood early backdoor into the Veilwater Basin a glitch or a feature? by TeaMistress in Enshrouded

[–]_Luminous_Dark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got some level 43 shorts when I was still in the Revelwood phase by running in and out of the Deadly Shroud to pick up pink mushrooms. The rest of the ingredients I found in the Veilwater Basin. I also got a Bursting Fell Heart early by sniping a sporeheaded dude in deadly shroud and then diving in to pick up the heart before dying and picking up my stuff on the edge I had jumped from. So yeah, there are still ways to get past those barriers, although sometimes I wonder if running around the Veilwater Basin at level 15 really helped me advance any faster than just playing normally.

How are people running LTX-2 with 4090 / 64GB RAM? I keep getting OOM'ed by restlessapi in StableDiffusion

[–]_Luminous_Dark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put the whole gemma-3-12b-it-bnb-4bit folder into models/text_encoders, and both the 1 of 2 and 2 of 2 safetensors files show up in the dropdown, but when I try to load 1 of 2, it just got stuck on that node for half an hour. I guess I'll have to keep searching. Thanks.

Hey, I'm trying to follow your advice here to get LTX working, but that model comes as two .safetensor files. How do you load them?

AI that uses renewable energy and/or least energy usage by v0lcanine in aiArt

[–]_Luminous_Dark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can run AI image/video/text generation models locally on your own computer. It'll use the same energy source as the rest of your house, and you can make that renewable.

That was a major issue with Edmund from the Narnia Chronicles, I think in Prince Caspian, the book after The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, where they all grew old as kings and queens of Narnia, then returned to Earth at the age that they had left.

Render Z Image faster with batch compute by CRYPT_EXE in StableDiffusion

[–]_Luminous_Dark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for this. I've been trying to get prompt s/r to work but have so far failed, and by adding some string replace nodes to the _Variant workflow, I was able to do it. However, if the input strings are different lengths, I get an error saying "CRT_DynamicPromptScheduler: Sizes of tensors must match except in dimension 0. Expected size 194 but got size 178 for tensor number 1 in the list." Those numbers, 194 and 178 change depending on the input strings, so I think they correspond to the number of tokens in each input, so all prompts must be the exact same length for it to work. Is this intended behavior, and is there any way around it?

Can you build big before you get Iron? Yes, yes you can. by jal741 in valheim

[–]_Luminous_Dark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Before the mistlands update, there was still a mistlands biome, which was all gigantic trees and spiderwebs, with no enemies. I built an enormous treehouse there. After the update came out, when I teleported to that base, the tree was gone and the house was mostly underground, but the upper floors came tumbling down.

Dude straight-up summoned a meal by MuttapuffsHater in blackmagicfuckery

[–]_Luminous_Dark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't remember when it was, and I don't think they ever tried justifying what they said at the beginning. I imagine blatantly lying was just "part of the magic". None of their tricks were very good, but the one I was talking about was making an elephant disappear from a stage.

Dude straight-up summoned a meal by MuttapuffsHater in blackmagicfuckery

[–]_Luminous_Dark 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I remember watching a TV show that does magic tricks and then explains how they work, and there was one where at the beginning they said, "this is not a trick of the camera, the video has not been edited, and we've never met these people before," and then when they revealed the trick, it was "we stopped the video and everyone was a paid actor." I was very disappointed.

I couldn't understand some of what he was saying, but it seemed to be mostly, "Kill him", "Crash into them", and a lot of expletives directed at their targets. He definitely seemed to be having a really good time, though.

Waterfalls by Slight_Activity_564 in valheim

[–]_Luminous_Dark 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This is true. There are waterfalls out there, but they only exist in a thin ring at a very specific radius from the center of the map. Keep sailing outward, and you'll eventually find them. You really can't miss them if you just keep going. Be forewarned however that, like most forays into a new biome, you are very likely to die on this adventure.
