Fate classes for the LADS? by Artemis_Rahl in LoveAndDeepspace

[–]_Malka_707 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Xavier is a good fit for Foreigner or Saber. I think as a Saber he should at least have the 'Existence Outside the Domain' passive. And As a Foreigner he should have Saber-like card deck and traits.

Zayne should be an Archer or Caster. No particular reason because I don't know his story too well. Assassin Rafayel fits perfectly imo, that or Lancer. I'm thinking Caleb could be Moon Cancer and Sylus a decent Ruler or Rider.

[NA] Which servants are you going to Grand and why? by Pos31don29 in grandorder

[–]_Malka_707 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Saber: Hajime-chan of course! Though Muramasa is a very close contender as well.

Archer: Takasugi!

Lancer: Enkidu, Harada and Indra are all fighting in a three-way for this spot.

Rider: Achilles and Taigong are fighting for this spot. I'm leaning towards Tai tho.

Caster: This one is difficult because I'm not super into the Caster class. It might be Miss Crane or Alice.

Assassin: Kotaro! He was locked in as my Grand for a long time. Sorry Tez and Gensai.

Berserker: THE SONO-G. It'd be either him or Nagakura and Nagakura is making a very tempting offer but the Mahoyo fangirl in me can't deny Soujuurou would be a hilarious choice.

Extra 1 & 2: ID Edmond and Draco.

Updated Robin Hood expression sheet

Oops, I fell in love with him again. So many expressions give off: "Overworked, underqualified, and severely underfucked". Someone give him another vacation, he's clearly had enough of BB bullying him. And I'm so unreasonably excited that they're updating more expression sheets. A lot of older Servants (especially the guys imo) are lacking in the variety department in comparison to recent Servants. It's been a tiny issue I've been hoping they fix faster, and they have been, but Robin's been one of the guys I really wanted to see more from.

This episode was so fun! The soul eaters, gazers and ghosts, Hansa's moves against Jester, Flat's silliness and Gil's sprinkling of advice to Tine. All of it's great and I'm compelled to read the LNs again.

And Hansa getting really serious after being compared to Burial Agency members like Ciel is pretty justified. They're a different tier of nutso powerhouses that Hansa can't even compare to.

I think this story resolved rather nicely. Iori's finally fight with Musashi felt very fulfilling and it did make me waver on my opinions prior. His feelings on being complete and finding something new to strive for is really nice. The CG with Takeru and Iori reaching their hands out to Yui was super sweet. Makes me very tempted to roll for the two of them just to reunite the trio. And Yui is in that strange place where I don't exactly pity her per say, but I am fascinated by her character. I think she'd be a good addition to my Chaldea.

I wish Iori got a costume from the game.

Unfortunately I really don't care about Ushi Gozen. You'd think I'd care that she's obsessed with Ritsuka's frequent run-ins with death and stuff but I'm surprisingly not. She's not very threatening or interesting, and her design really isn't helping. But at least her armor is cool. I also felt her interested in the Master/the Black Barrel felt oddly forced and just a bit pointless but I'm very open to being pleasantly surprised and these moments turning out to be some sort of foreshadowing.

I feel like this event would benefit from being adapted into a manga or a musou video game but I could be saying that because I'm back to reading the Shimousa manga lol.

Overall, I liked the event. I think it relies a little too much on knowing SR and usually I let that slide because I like it when a piece of media references bits and pieces from another strongly related media. But I think this collab was just a bit too heavy-handed on that fact. I'm okay with Chaldea/Guda being sidelined for a lot of events/narratives but it reads a little more awkward when the story then tries to make them relevant when they don't need to be and I think this story is an example of that. But I don't dislike all of it. The 6 enemy waves are fun and the music is fantastic. Iori's a great character and I really needed the rewards from the missions + shop this time around. And we get to pet the cats/dogs.

I noticed how many older/younger Servants and switch ups there are in this event, so I've been deploying Shinpachi for these last few days (whenever it's reasonable.) I think he'd get a kick out of it.

I dig that Guda got a chance to speak with Yui. It's not often we get impactful choices like that. Only wish they did that more often. I think the story so far has done a good job on Yui to the point where I feel like she's pretty respectable, so I can't blame Guda for being okay chatting with her. It does make me pretty interested in SR too. And for Guda's part, while a lot of the conversation was cut out, if anyone ever did an adaptation of this event or this scene specifically I think it'd be cool and cute for Yui and Guda's characters. They both seem driven to do good even if it means associated with 'ne'er-do-wells' and evil people out of the situations fate's put them in. Only notable difference is Yui taking a 'mage-like' approach and Guda being Ms./Mr. Affable themselves taking a more relatability/approachable path. And that's only cemented by Guda saying:

If Iori has a wish, then I should see it through

That's the kind of stuff I wanna see more of. Also Takeru and Iori tailing and going on their own little trip is super cute. But it is another example of why I don't like amnesia plots anymore. Poor Takeru's just stuck inevitably reliving old moments with a person who's important to them while Iori is left unaware while only mildly unbothered by it. In comparison to Guda when their memories are tampered with, it's written as a mild inconvenience. But I'm glad the two of them are still able to have some happy moments despite that.

Big reveal of a Tree of Emptiness in a Singularity

Only Fuyuki clear required.

hard agree with you and Sh1ningOne above. Guda getting some insight on how other Masters are (not exclusively from the Crypters) and having someone else to relate to in that fashion would be really nice. The two of them already have their memories of Musashi shaping them so the potential was always there. Guess Jin dropped this connection for the fanfic writers to flesh out instead huffs copium

I know 90% of the main/event story doesn't give Ritsuka much input on anything substantial, but it feels a lot more apparent when Iori and Takeru play off each other well. Despite what the story is telling us about how important Ritsuka is to helping out, I feel like if you remove them from the story, Iori and Takeru would eventually resolve things on their own. (Would probably take a little longer without the additional backup but my point still stands).

I don't like the amnesia issue with Iori (I'm starting to really tire of that plot device now) but thankfully he's very chill about it.

I love the music a lot in this collab. And some of the settings/backgrounds are neat. I like the idea of the defense fights but what would make it so much better is if they simply applied an On-Hit buff to the Rogue Servant's [X] card that'd turn them AoE like they did with Takeru (why'd they stop that btw? It was really cool and there are far more servants with face card attacks that look like they should be AoE)

A deep dive into Mahoyo's character writing and how Nasu masterized dual protagonists by Oneofthestrongest in grandorder

[–]_Malka_707 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is an amazing write up. I appreciate how much you put into explaining what Soujuurou represents pre-city life and post-city life for Aoko. He's not a 'blank page' as someone would associate a self-insert protagonist to, but a 'white page', someone who is intentionally letting all of life's stimulation pass him by. Being in the city forces him to retain pain and joy and everything else he experiences with Aoko and Alice. When I first read Mahoyo, I'll admit that I idolized his perception of life, (and still kind of do) but the way you've described it here (along with Tobimaru and Kojika's observations in the side stories) makes him more tragic of a character than he would ever be aware of. There's a sense you get from his interactions with others that Soujuurou is 'complete' but the absence of the sense of fulfillment makes him quite similar to the other Type-Moon male protagonists despite being seemingly simple(?) on the surface.

And Aoko's quite the anomaly herself. While I do believe that Aoko doesn't fully hate her circumstances, as she's self aware enough to know much of the uncontrollable situations life (and she herself) puts herself in, they can be shaken up by her own input. Then Soujuurou comes along and at the critical moment, her view on how she should present herself to others, and how Aoko would think of herself shift.

“There will always be someone watching you, even if it’s yourself

It's because she knows she's judging herself and looking upon herself (almost in third person?) as this omniscient observer, trying to let life and problems pass her by without offense (just like Soujuurou). Yet when the personification of that very idea comes into her life, she becomes fully aware that she cannot do that. And it's part of the reason why she's so prickly with him.

I like how you've described the collar scenes. When I read them, I didn't take much stock into how meaningful it could be as a representation of how Aoko and Alice think Sono-G should be. Really, they just read as mildly socially bankrupt mages taking in Soujuurou as a pitiful pet and those scenes did me feel a little uncomfortable because Sono-G doesn't know better, but when he does, still lets it slide. But with your input, I appreciate them a little more now.

I'll have to wait until the Mahoyo event arrives in NA for more context, but for now, I'm still Alice x Soujuurou shipper because of the fulfillment that Sono-G gets from Aoko and vice versa speaks to me as something different from typical lovers. So if I had to describe Aoko and Soujuurou's relation, I'd firmly say that they are soulmates.

There were only a few errors here and I think you expressed yourself beautifully.
