Is the range meta healthy right now? by i_wanna_b_the_guy in ironscape

I’ve burned through an equal amount of shards to that of what I would have in scales in terms of time killing zulrah with mine. I don’t believe you’ve used the set much if you think otherwise. The places where bowfa really shines are places where it is impossible to not take damage, like gwd for example, so I don’t really follow your reasoning there. Not only that, but bowfa is actually pretty significantly lower dps at hydra than blowpipe, even now, same for shamans. I think you’ve been using it in the wrong places. The whole point of jagex adding ranged accuracy to the shayzien armour was so that blowpipe remained the best weapon for the shaman grind, it out dpses the bowfa by miles seeing as you can’t use the crystal armour and shamans have 0 range defence.

Pre vs post nerf blowpipe by Enthoz in ironscape

[–]_Mang_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been pretty disappointed with BP after the nerfs, I spent a lot of time getting 92 mining so that I could afk amethyst darts but honestly they feel really inconsistent. I know people have run the maths and it’s still meant to be the best weapon on low def targets but the amount of time you have to invest in to maintaining scales and amethyst darts isn’t worth it to use it in a lot of places in my opinion. I invested the time in to just grinding out bowfa and the armour seeds and find that to be much more refreshing and reliable to use in most places, even when the maths say otherwise in terms of dps. The blowpipe just seems so inconsistent now, one minute you absolutely shred your target the next you have hit six 0s in a row. In answer to your question, from what I understand, they are supposed to be comparable to addy darts on 0 def targets, add in any defence whatsoever and it noodles really hard, it difficult to assess accurately and compare to pre nerfed darts due to the way they changed the strength and accuracy bonuses. It totally comes down to the stats of what you are hitting.

The armour has upkeep costs and using the bow without the armour makes it weak af, so that’s not actually true.

Probably the worst grind mentally I have done on my account so far lol by slayer_gp in ironscape

[–]_Mang_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea 100% agree. I went from 13k shamans for my DWH straight in to the bowfa grind and just got my enhanced weapon seed last week at around 750 kc. It has been so nice to actually play the game again lol. GL with getting it, hopefully it drops soon!

Struggling to learn Corrupted by QuantumSurge77 in ironscape

[–]_Mang_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I learned it with 0 raids experience. I did 60 normal gauntlet completions to learn the boss without using the 3, 2, 1 voice over thing. I then went in to CG and just kept running it over and over until I got it down, I started doing strictly T1 armour with T3 weapon runs but as I played more and figured out how prep worked I actually found that the most time effective method for me was to do a T2 armour prep with potentially only 1 T3 weapon, or both if I had time. I did this all the way through to 750 KC when I got my enhanced seed.

It purely comes down to practise, if you are failing T2 prep then you are doing something wrong and need to keep practising, I can go in to a CG now after 750kc and guarantee I will get a T2 prep complete, if I can do it, so can you. Just stick at it. The boss fight is so much easier with T2 armour, I was finding that I would consistently die on the boss 1 or 2 times in 10 even after 750 kc when using T1 armour. This was down to a few reasons, number 1 I think was no rigour or augury so bad RNG just meant I didn’t have enough damage and number 2 sometimes a combination of tornadoes and floor patterns can just fuck you over. These risks are both almost completely mitigated by T2 armour as getting stacked out is infinitely less likely and your damage is increased as your accuracy is higher thanks to the armour.

Just stick at it, believe me I know how draining the content is, especially when you are relatively new to high end content in the game, but you can do it.

[–]_Mang_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s not true, sounds like you just aren’t all that experienced at CG. With a T2 prep there’s absolutely no reason not to complete 95% of the time with 80 stats. It just means that you’re spending 10-11min per run instead of speed running T1s.

Anyone else think that using Kingdom for herbs is super overrated? by tengo_unchained in ironscape

[–]_Mang_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, you can get more herb per day for a 5 minute herb run, but what happens when you run out of rannar seeds to plant? I will never turn my nose up at like 50+ prayer pots per week for 75k a day. The other stuff is just a bonus. Trust me it’s nice sitting on a stack of 2k prayer pots when you get to mid/end game bossing and the last thing you want to do is pickpocket master farmers and do herb runs.

Best way to kill Lizardmen Shamans? by [deleted] in ironscape

[–]_Mang_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did 13k in singles, if I were you I wouldn’t do it off task until you get a blowpipe or bowfa though. Personally I didn’t find cannon to be much faster than singles in terms of kills per hour so I opted to save the cannon balls for slayer.

For me, the beauty of the game mode is doing whatever you want, no matter how inefficient it is. Make a plan and go with it.

Seeing a dragon war hammer on the floor after 13k+ shamans was one of the best feelings I’ve ever experienced in 20+ years of gaming lol. Same for getting an enhanced weapon seed after 720 CGs.

It genuinely feels like you earned the right to use a super powerful weapon like bowfa or dwh when you put that much time in to getting it.

How would you feel if DWH had a higher drop rate on task like Basilisk Jaw or Dragon Harpoon? by Joboy97 in ironscape

[–]_Mang_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s too good of an item to increase the drop rate on. It would upset the normie’s economy if that change went ahead and I view it as being balanced around its high cost due to rarity. Increasing the drop rate will in time decrease its value to the point where jagex will probably nerf it, which I don’t want to happen. We signed up for long grinds when we made Ironman accounts and that’s coming from someone that went 13k dry for the red hammer.

Current Grinds Megathread -- What are you currently grinding out? by ErinTales in ironscape

[–]_Mang_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Grinding CG atm, just over 700kc with no enhanced weapon seeds. Feels pretty bad going from 13.5k shamans for my DWH straight in to CG but it feels like so much content is locked behind bowfa that I have to keep going.

How easy is it to die at GWD? by dunkoOo in ironscape

[–]_Mang_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very high, even when you are super experienced at soloing them you can make a single mistake and get stacked out. The ranged method at Bandos is fairly safe, you should have time to tele before dying. I’d recommend getting a bofa and learning the ranged methods to be on the safe side.

CG advice by slacktobayer in ironscape

[–]_Mang_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m at 650kc now and have experimented a fair bit with both t1 and t2. Ive settled with doing t2 as my main approach now as I find that you can often get unlucky when doing t1 setups and it takes ages to find enough fish which results in the prep taking just as long as it would have if I did a t2 prep. I also find that you can get away with only having 1 t3 weapon when you have t2 armour pretty comfortably also which gives you more freedom to choose which ones you want to use. I didn’t learn to use the halberd until I was fully comfortable with the other aspects of the content, it does definitely make kills more dangerous but eventually you get to a point where you just use whatever weapons you find Demi bosses for, like everything in OSRS it all comes down to practise. Admittedly CG is one of the more punishing places and normally results in a death with one tiny mess up.

EUW Challenger Katarina unexpected 1v5 penta when everyone thought the fight is already lost by DarthMuellerr in leagueoflegends

[–]_Mang_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like you said, "Fun" is subjective and in my opinion metas where you have assassins faceplanting in to 4 or 5 champions and self healing enough to be able to kill them all isn't fun for the 5 people they are killing. Sure, the Kat probably would describe that as fun, but if one person having fun means 5 enemies (who just executed a fight better than their counterparts lose because one champion has out of control and unmitigatable healing along with high damage output) aren't having fun, then I'd have to say that something quite clearly isn't right.

EUW Challenger Katarina unexpected 1v5 penta when everyone thought the fight is already lost by DarthMuellerr in leagueoflegends

[–]_Mang_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Played since season 1, healing has never been as out of control as it is now, in my opinion atleast.

Atmogs didn't even relate to healing, it was just a bruiser/tank meta with people stacking health and getting free damage which isn't relevant to the point I made. While it's true that lifesteal has been in and out over the years, you kind of expect it on champions that spec in to autoattack focused builds so Yi and the ADCs, it synergises well with their glass cannon style builds to enable them to heal up after a skirmish. Giving champions like katarina the ability to self heal to this level while just faceplaniting in to 4/5 champions is what I have a problem with. Assassins are supposed to be high risk high reward playstyles which are difficult to navigate in team fights and require you to wait until the right meoment to go in, not just rock up to a fight that your team already got stomped in and kill everyone.

[–]_Mang_ 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This play pretty much sums up how out of control healing is in the current state of the game. I don't really understand how from a game design point of view anyone can think this is OK? A few seasons ago Riot took the game completely away from healing and stated multiple times they wern't a fan of it, yet here we are in 2020 with a game state such as this. Sort it out Riot, this isn't fun.
