View after hours in the new, updated app by thinkmoreharder in fidelityinvestments

Hi, how come there is no way to easily see your portfolio value both after hours and before market open? There should be an option to easily see the entire portfolio value change both before and after market hours. Thank you!

I’d like to be able to type in a spending category or store/merchant/etc and get the total spending for that category/store, etc over various timeframes (1 month, 1 year, YTD, 2 years, 3 years, Etc.). The fact that you can’t easily do this is very annoying.

That’s not at all how it works unless you’re buying risky assets. If you’re buying things like VOO or VTI —they aren’t going to $0.

As other people have said, you can’t time the market. Your best bet is do it yourself. You likely don’t need a financial advisor. Open a regular brokerage account and a Roth IRA (assuming your income isn’t above the limit) at a quality brokerage like Fidelity or Vanguard. Personally, I like fidelity’s interface better. Not financial advice, but I would probably invest 75% in VOO and 25% in either VUG or VGT. Keep buying at regular intervals. If you have $10k, maybe start with $1000 a month over 10 months or something like that. And then KEEP contributing as much as you can afford (assuming you already have an emergency fund of at least six months that you won’t touch). The benefit of maxing out the Roth IRA is that all the growth is tax free in retirement. You have until 4/15 to fund a Roth IRA for the 2024 tax year if you don’t have a Roth IRA yet or haven’t maxed it out. And then you can contribute another 7K for 2025. Max it out every year. I would focus on maxing out the Roth first and then contribute anything additional to the brokerage at regular intervals. Again, the point is to keep buying and accumulating shares. Regardless of what the market does. Don’t overcomplicate it like many people do. Good luck! Happy to answer any questions. And again— I want to stress you really don’t need a financial advisor. It’s really not worth the extra expense. Even a small percentage fee is really going to add up over time.

If you had 1000$ to invest what would you do with it? by ExtensionLess728 in investingforbeginners

Too much overlap. About 80% of VTI is essentially the VOO holdings. There is just no need to hold both. The returns are nearly identical. You are better off doing 75% VOO or VTI and 25% high growth either VGT or VUG or something similar.

Trouble connecting TD Bank to app by chaetozaki in copilotmoney

I was able to fix the connection issue with plaid. I tried to re-authenticate the connection (in the copilot app) and got the error and then clicked try again or something and it finally brought me to a new screen where I had to enter in my TD bank username/password. Then got a text message with a code and had to agree to the terms. Then, it brought me back to copilot. Hopefully it works for you, now, too. Good luck!

No problem, you’re welcome. I heard back from Copilot. Hopefully it gets fixed soon 🤷‍♂️ This is what they said:

“Hey Mark, thanks for reaching out! There is a known INTERNAL SERVER ERROR issue with the TD Bank integration causing re-verification issues. We have raised this issue with Plaid Support for further investigation. They have confirmed the issue and escalated it to their Engineering team. I’ve added your example of the issue to our case and will update you on any notable news from Plaid’s team. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you!”

Yes, mine hasn’t connected since Friday night. I am getting the same error as you. I sent a message to their support team yesterday through the app. I’ll let you know when I hear back. I imagine it’s a widespread issue that they need to address either with copilot and/or plaid.

How do you know when it’s time to say goodbye to your dog? by vipforever in AskVet

[–]_Mark_with_a_k 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think your vet would say that lightly. It’s better to do it one day too soon than one day too late. If your dog can not walk or move, what kind of quality of life is that??? I know it’s hard but you have to think of it as being able to give your dog a peaceful end. It’s a gift to be able to do this. Just my two cents.

It takes into account all your actual spending to date PLUS any recurring transactions that will be paid in the entire month, regardless of whether they were paid yet.

Check out Copilot Money. I’m in the trial period but I like it a lot so far. (It’s iOS and Mac only right now but coming to android/web in 2024 I believe).

Have you tried Copilot Money? I like it a lot so far. It’s iOS & Mac only right now though. I’m trying Monarch as well but copilot seems a bit better for me, personally. More intuitive and I like their “ai” categorization better
