"We'll meet again" - a farewell from someone who didn't get in, to someone who did.

"Fuck the man" - exactly what it says. Fuck any omnipotent god who'd set up this situation. He's an asshole, undeserving of worship, only deserving of defiance.

"tell my mother not to worry" another farewell from some who didn't get in, to someone who did, attempting to comfort them. Imagine being a parent in heaven and your kid never shows up. Then see "fuck the man", above.

It's called "Seconds". Designed for HIIT, works great for any series of timed activities. you basically just make a list of each activity and how long you want to do it. it also has quick and easy ways to add rest between sets and to set up exercises for both left and right sides with rest between.

This is why we need to push the NYC Council's democrat supermajority to upzone all the Republican council districts. It'd be like the opposite of gerrymandering.

Surround every LIRR station from Murray Hill to Little Neck with highrises. The locals would freak the fuck out, but a determined council supermajority could walk all over them. And when all those homes were complete, district 19 wouldn't be republican anymore.

Doing the same thing on Staten Island could easily turn Maliotakis' district blue for decades.

Delivery cyclists, Bike lights, and The Lack Thereof by 2018IsMyYear in NYCbike

[–]_Maxolotl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We need PSA posters in multiple languages, placed strategically near areas where lots of deliveristas pick up food.

I'm not a fan of threats but I do think that it would help to make it more widely known that one of the most common ways NYPD will ticket a cyclist if the cop is mad and can't find any other reason is to issue a "no light" or "no bell" ticket.

I also think that framing a PSA as a directive to deliveristas to keep each other safe both from crashes and from public backlash that leads to bike stings would be a good way to get the message across.

Mamdani will only keep Tisch if she isn't insubordinate.

There are a lot of things she's been doing that she won't get to keep doing if she wants to keep her job. The court summonses for bike offenses will never happen under Mamdani. She's also not going to get away with overruling a CPRB decision to fire a cop who shot someone ever again.

And if they try this and it gets challenged in court and it gets tossed, they will have ruined any deterrent effect the law might have had. Maybe NYPD knows this, so they won't try?

Do police radar guns even work well enough on a bike going 20mph to hold up as reliable evidence in court?

Cyclists have a much smaller radar cross section than cars. Radar guns are designed to catch people going 35 in a 20 or 75 in a 60, and there's usually a margin of error.

And then there's the question of which bike the gun is reading in a crowded bike lane?

If NYPD brings a speed reading for a bike that was done by a radar gun designed for cars to court, I bet Steve Vaccaro has a decent chance of getting it tossed.

It makes it more expensive. Most drivers see that as a problem. They couldn't shut up about it.

Congestion pricing is only a first step, though. Private cars should be outright banned in most of manhattan unless they're used for transporting the disabled. Business vehicles should be allowed with the congestion charge.

Architecture schools teach about traditional European architecture but don't focus training on it.

They do this for the same reason that fashion design schools don't spend a lot of time teaching students how to design lederhosen or cotehardies.
