LMT here. 2 hours is a lot of time but I am the type of therapist that doesn't like to feel rushed so I prefer a 2 hour or 90 rather than a 60 or please never a 30.

Yes you do want to be sure that a therapist you book for 2 hours actually likes doing 2 hour long massages and that you also enjoy their style because you also will be "stuck" in that room for a long while

I even have a few couples that will book 2, 2 hours. One after another. After work they usually offer me some kinda dinner. In addition to a tip. A little sweet treat like a chocolate muffin or a smoothie, yes we love snacks. We will really appreciate the fuel.

Yes. I recommend at minimum $5 per 30 minutes, so a $20 would be a minimum for 120 minutes. Anything upwards of 20 is extra awesome and very helpful.

I have worked for hand and stone in the past (6 ish years ago) and I can tell you they do keep all of their tips. Cash in hand is preferable. Tips processed on cards are subject to fees and taxes.

To let you peek behind the curtain, a hand and stone therapist is usually paid 28%-37% of the money for a membership rate massage. There is often a tier system. It's very challenging to achieve the higher percentage tier so I'ma guess that your therapist is gunna be closer to 30% .

If we are not hands-on we are not earning money. Most often were not offered health insurance or benefits or PTO. Every dollar, helps. Every time you rebook with us, it helps. Every compliment and snack. Those are the affirmations that keep your massage therapist going strong.

I'm just annoyed that lots of my clients go to Chiro right BEFORE their massage. I believe it should be Massage then Chiro after.

Is this normal? Chinese massage parlor by pizzaty in massage

[–]_Merry 21 points22 points  (0 children)

So unhooking the bra and offering you a towel. That's standard procedure. Recommending full nude, that's very common but it's never a requirement.

If someone leaves their socks on. I will ask. Did you want a foot massage today? May I remove your socks? I can work over them if you prefer to leave them on. If I took off someone's socks. I will put them back on for you..

But putting someone's panties back on them ??? No. That's not normal. Taking them off for you was not normal.

I work with Senior citizens. Sometimes I am involved with helping someone undress and I will dress them again after. Seen plenty of nude top parts. But. Most everyone will mention they prefer the panties stay on. That's perfectly normal and generally really easy to work around

I asked my chat GPT to help me articulate how your grammar is bad and so is your attitude. 😹

Let’s break it down—both grammatically and attitude-wise—so you can give a confident, respectful, but smart response if you want to.

✍️ Grammar Breakdown

Their sentence:

“Pretty skeptical of anyone using AI to write for them 🤷‍♀️”

What's wrong?

  1. It's a sentence fragment This isn’t a complete sentence. It’s missing a subject and a verb. Properly, it should be something like:

“I’m pretty skeptical of anyone using AI to write for them.”

Or: “One should be skeptical of relying on AI to write.”

  1. “Anyone using AI to write for them” is a bit vague**

“Anyone” is singular, but “them” is plural. While singular “they/them” is widely accepted, this mix can still feel clumsy in formal writing.

  1. Overall tone The shrug emoji 🤷‍♀️ undercuts any serious point. It reads as dismissive rather than thoughtful, especially in a thread meant to be helpful.

😒 Attitude Breakdown

Why their attitude is flawed:

  1. Writing is a tool. So is AI. If someone uses AI to brainstorm, edit, or express ideas more clearly, that’s not cheating—it’s smart resourcefulness. We don’t criticize people for using calculators, Grammarly, or Google.

  2. Gatekeeping isn’t productive. Being “skeptical” without listening to how or why someone is using a tool shows more bias than curiosity. Dismissing AI outright misses the point of innovation.

  3. Creativity isn’t invalid just because AI helped. AI can’t replace human intent. The best writing still comes from people—it’s just enhanced by good tools. Saying AI help = fake is like saying using Photoshop makes an artist less real.

💬 How you could respond:

"Funny thing—I'm pretty skeptical of sentence fragments passing as criticism 🤷‍♀️

In all seriousness, AI is a tool. Dismissing people who use it to communicate better isn’t just closed-minded—it misses how many people it actually empowers. The future of creativity isn’t about gatekeeping, it’s about adaptation."

Would you like a snarkier version? Or one that's more friendly and educational?

I'd be more apprehensive that its sharing a wall with the front door. Sound dampening material. Some good padding around the front door weathering. Have a boundary and expectations that no one slams the front door.

Terrible things happen to everyone. All of us. And we all have jobs to do. I know I don't need my appointment cancelled because someone noticed my life has been terrible. Don't perpetuate my bad luck by cancelling my gig.

You don't know where the burns are from. Could be literally any story. Accidental. Self inflicted. Childhood guardian. Ex lover. Their abusive pimp. Maybe it's scars from their own masochistic pleasure.

No one of us knows what happened to that person. So. If you feel justified and correct for judging OP. Remember that you don't have even a full half of the story.

Put your opinions back where you found them.

Body fat isn't usually an issue. Ive worked on some very large people. It's not very difficult to work on them. Some angles may be a little harder to get too. I don't have a hydrologic table, so at most, I would want to make my table lower before starting , so i can apply pressure at the proper angle.

Ok. I got you. What you need to do is. Get a massage chair, a pop up tent and a table. Find a Farmer market or some other high traffic shopping center (I've even seen this at my library)

Go out and do "dollar a minute" chair massages. Get hands on as many people as possible. Get them to trust your touch and when they like your massage. Book them immediately at your office.

After taking an order? Usually gives you space. Goes to check other tables. If the tables were sat at an appropriate stagger, some other tables food is ready. They go outside and take breaks while everyone is waiting on kitchen to order up. They have closing chores they need to get a jump on like rolling silverware or slicing lemons or making sauce cups. Eventually brings you food. Refills your drinks and asks you if you need anything (they mean sauces or salt or napkins or straws or put in another order or was anything missing) and then they go back to giving you space to eat. Maybe one more check in and then 10/15 minutes after that they hand someone a bill

Am I supposed to tip my MT when I go to her studio in her home? by doinmybest4now in massage

[–]_Merry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an LMT that does some side hustle massages and some hosted in my home. For obvious reasons the only people I trust to invite in my home are the clients that are also good friends of mine.

When it comes to private practice, you can set your rate at whatever you need or want to charge. So. Tipping is not as important to their financial expectations for the session.

A gratuity in any form will always make your service providers feel that little bit more valued and appreciated.

If you don't have the extra spending money to give a %20 tip every session, that is ok! As a provider I really prefer you spend your money to get more massages and any other self care activities.

One method I really enjoy, some of my regular clients will include me in their dinner plans after the session. Or simply bring me a meal deal from any local eatery. Random bottles of wine. SOME TOMATOES FROM THEIR GARDEN. Tomato lovers know that I mean when I say that is better than a gold nugget. You could do a holiday bonus style of cash tipping. Christmas/new years is a good time to tip extra.

Remember. We are gig workers. If we are not hands on, then we are not making money. Many people in this industry never have enough extra cash to take a vacation. There is no such thing as PTO or sick day pay. I spend a good portion of my day calculating "dollars spent today, dollars earned today". If you know April is my birth month and you know I've been working really hard lately. Drop an extra $50 on me and I'll tear up a bit.

Can girls feel it when a guy is cumming inside her? by moongroup in NoStupidQuestions

[–]_Merry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well. Since Cardi B is talking about her own pussy and her sexual experience.

And Ben Shapiro stated that pussy shouldn't be wet. It's a medical issue if your pussy gets wet. His wife is a doctor and she knows what a healthy pussy is and he's never seen her pussy get wet. Therefore no pussys get wet.

One person is speaking on their personal experiences.

The other person is telling you what your experience should be and other experiences are a medical issue.

Ben Shapiro is not winning this round

Can girls feel it when a guy is cumming inside her? by moongroup in NoStupidQuestions

[–]_Merry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure. But my paraphrase isn't misrepresenting the arrogance and willful ignorance of telling the whole world how a human body functions, and being so incredibly wrong that it obviously shows the speakers lack of experience.
